579670 tn?1218213544 Hi, i am doing Food technology GCSE and my coursework is to design and make a range of products suitable for a diabetic that could be sold in the healthy eating section of a supermarket. Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most?

443878 tn?1205103196 I gained 90 pounds when I was pregnant, got gestational diabetes, turned into type II diabetes after I gave birth. I have tried every diet imaginable, and have not been able to lose much weight at all. I lost a few pounds when I started metformin medication, but have now stabilized again.
Avatar f tn I am 28 weeks and crave strawberries and blueberries. Put some whip cream on the strawberries..it is like a whole new world lol. My husband makes fun of me because he says I moan when I eat it lol. I hates whip cream all my life til now!
Avatar f tn Had a funnel cake with strawberries and whipped cream on it last night and now all I want is strawberries!
Avatar n tn Yeah, a lot of people don't realize just how common of an allergy the strawberry is. I can't eat them either. I don't get a super serious reaction, but the reaction is enough that I know not to mess with them, especially since my old man is allergic and even gets hives on occasion. I get a sore irritated throat, which is definitely sensitive enough to be paying attention to. I used to eat a lot of the strawberries which my parents grew themselves.
Avatar f tn ) but go for a walk or exercise after. The main thing is not eat too much. Protein helps alot so you stay fuller longer. And protein doesn't break down into sugars later.
535822 tn?1443976780 If you have pre diabetic readings 112 what would a days meals be, could you tell me what you would eat for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and best times to eat, what time is the last meal .I have got a book about this also and am reading but wanted your input.
Avatar f tn I made some healthier desserts not loaded with sugar. Coconut bark is a good one as coconut oil is full of good fats and helps to curb sugar cravings. Just mix 2 cups shredded coconut, 1 cup coconut oil, 1 tablespoon honey and a dash of vanilla essence... Spread out 1cm thick and freeze. You can top it with a thin layer of dark chocolate too. After I eat 1 piece I feel satisfied and not like pigging out on more sugar Eating coconut oil is good for your skin too!
1360484 tn?1277732214 Does anyone know of any quick low fat low calorie desserts I can make for my family?
9924471 tn?1419954420 Thank you! Congrats to you also. (: For my appetizer, I'm gonna serve mini sandwiches, veggies in a cup with ranch, & chips with dip. For my desserts, I'm gonna serve fruit salad, cookies, mini popcorn balls, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit wands, & cake.. But for my main dish, it's gonna be spaghetti with garlic bread & a small salad.. Lots of food, I know lol.
284738 tn?1283106819 I love many, many desserts. If I had to pick a dessert to eat right now, it would probably be a big warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and whipped cream on top. With me, there is no such thing as a dessert being too sweet!
Avatar f tn t have to worry about cooking nor cleaning up. I told the owners of the restaurant what food and desserts I wanted and they made it accordingly. It was cheaper than purchasing the food and having to prepare it and get all of the necessities. Good luck and best wishes!
Avatar m tn After a harrowing several minutes, we gave her some milk and eat 2 strawberries (based on the assumption that this would only produce a mild boost to her sugar) and she recovered a bit. At the (really bad) public clinic where we then took her, they said it was a low blood sugar attack. I would like to know what to do if she is ever in that situation again, where she can't help herself. How do you know if it is high or low sugar in an attack and what to do?
Avatar n tn That is very strange! Have you ingested any over the counter medicines, products or foods? Nyquil, Listerine, fruit cake? That's the first thing that came to mind...Although, I know Nyquil is a huge no-no for pregnant women because it does contain a small trace of alcohol...and because of the holidays, many foods and desserts are spiked with traces of alcohol...other than that, I'm stumped. When can they tell you what it is from?
Avatar f tn My hospital set me up with a diabetic education class, and it helped tons.
872485 tn?1240603562 I had an A1C test and it came back at 6.4%. He said he wants me to follow a diabetic diet and exercise and have retest in 6 months. My fasting BS was 88, so that's good. I was told in college (I"m 34) that I had hypoglycemia and both my grandparents (one on each side) has diabetes. Does 6.4 mean I'm prediabetic? diabetic? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I swear, if I hear "Your baby is going to be diabetic!" One more time I'm going to punch someone! Everything I eat is under scrutiny from strangers! Mind you I'm eating perfectly healthy! Here's what I had yesterday when I heard this..... Breakfast: Fruit & Yogurt Parfait and a blueberry muffin. Snacks: Strawberries & grapes then later carrots and celery with a tablespoon peanut butter. Lunch: Tossed salad with 1 slice colby jack cheese and turkey.
Avatar f tn in 2007 I was diagnosed with gastritis. Since then, I have intolerance towards avocados, bananas, strawberries, tomatoes, cantalope and apples. 15 minutes after eating, I have stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting. What's happening?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm new to your Diabetes 2 Community but have been involved some with the MS community. I have Multiple Sclerosis but was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes 2. When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating.
1666434 tn?1325262350 m not a big sweets person but we have like five different chocolate desserts in the freezer - fudge pops; ice cream sandwiches; mini ice cream cones w/chocolate on top; multiple flavors of ice cream... it's bad. I don't eat a lot at a time, though. I usually have one or two treats a day.
Avatar m tn ths usual times to check blood sugar are fasting. Optimal level is in the 80s, but ‹95 is truely ok. >125 is diabetic. Other time is 2 hours after starting to eat. Optimal in this case is also <95, but 180 2 hrs after rating is considered diabetic. If you suspect you are at risk, for health, cut added sugars from your diet and reduce intake of processed foods. If you are diabetic, then low carb diet and meds, if necessary, is typically effective approach.
Avatar f tn I'm a diabetic and 28 weeks...I cave sweets too lol. Try baking with splenda instead of sugar...they have a lot of splenda cake and cookie recipes.
Avatar f tn Stay away from sugars like soda and desserts. Drink lots of water. When you take the classes they will teach you how and what to eat. It is important to walk after meals it helps regulate your sugar. The important thing here is that you do what you can now for your baby. Most women the gd goes away after pregnancy. I'm diabetic before pregnancy and from the get go I had to follow diet and excercise and be more strict on myself. I'm very resistant so I am on insulin.
Avatar n tn Start reading labels to get familiar with carbohydrate grams. I think 50 grams per meal is plenty, but she needs to see a diabetic nurse to help her with all that, and also you can subtract the fiber and thats helpful too. Another important factor is serving or portions of food. I always say hospital serving size is helpful. American Diabetic Association web site has a carb counter you can use also. I will try and find the link for you.
Avatar f tn ) not sure really lol i dont think my mom, the one throwing it has thought that far ahead lol of course a cake. Prolly some fruit salad desserts since i could probably live off them lol try to google. Finger food. Easy party foods.
