Common Questions and Answers about Diabetic breakfast meal plan

Avatar n tn Hi, there are some great online keto groups and low carb / paleo groups / pages for meal ideas. I don't typically snack. Breakfast would be eggs done somehow, with either veges, cheese, or meat. I am partial to a good sausage occasionally. Usually washed down with coffee with cream. Lunch and dinner are typically meat and veges of some sort. I do make low carb breads (look up cloud bread or psillium bread for starters), and these are great with cheese, salad, salami, etc.
194838 tn?1303428544 Eating meals with a known number of calories at specific times and a moderate amount of measured exercise (i.e. walking fifty blocks) , also at specific times would be ideal. Few people can do this. You have to resolve yourself to the fact that, if diabetic, you can't have whatever you want whenever you want without paying the penalty. At a senior citizen center, for example, the standard daily meal for lunch is 1400 calories.
Avatar n tn t think that it makes any difference whether your child eats regular meals or variable meals with snacks as long as you know how to count the carbohydrates and adjust insulin accordingly. Obviously, those who eat according to a set meal plan have their lives simplified by not having to do the math for every single meal, but some folks prefer to have the flexibility of being able to eat what they want to and adjust the insulin.
7058746 tn?1393435420 m required to eat a total of 180 carbs a day/30 carbs each feeding (eat up to 6x a day-breakfast, lunch, dinner with snacks after each). I have to check my sugar before my first meal and then every two hours after breakfast, lunch and dinner. I mainly drink water (all day) and milk (breakfast/lunch only). You can still eat what you like BUT it's definitely about portion control. For example, I can only indulge on 10 peanuts for my fats, lol.
Avatar n tn I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar m tn This is difficult to ascertain without knowing your bedtime, morning fasting, preprandial [before meal], and postprandial [2-3 hours after meal] glucose levels. Other questions that will help: • Are you eating a diabetic diet? • All you ate was the banana at breakfast? • Any foods/snacks between breakfast and 3pm? • Any juices or energy drinks from breakfast to 3pm? • When and how often do you test? Start testing to see which foods affect your glucose levels.

Avatar f tn Everyone is different. I'm allowed 45 carbs per meal snack every 2hrs very few carbs. Test 1hr after meal. No fruit for breakfast or snack. No fruit juice period. That's my meal plan now yours could be different. I've found walking right after really helps bring down the levels. But carbs you have to watch even if it says sugar free.
Avatar n tn I eat no more than 20 to 25 gr of carbs at this meal. I take 2 medformin with breakfast. Most other readings after meals are well within normal limits and my most recent A1C was a mere 6.3 Any suggestions? Avatar n tn im needing to find a simple diabetic diet plan. the doctor gave me one but it seems really complicated. does anyone know any good sources for diabetic diet plans?
Avatar f tn She explained it with more detail and explained how it affects myself and my baby. She also helped me with a meal plan, a grocery list, and gave me tons of recipes. What matters is the total carbohydrates! I kept looking at the sugar... which is important too! But when I plan my meals out during the day I can only have so many carbs at one time. For breakfast I can only have 25 total carbohydrates. For snacks (you should have three snacks a day including one before bed) no more then 30.
579670 tn?1218213544 Hi, i am doing Food technology GCSE and my coursework is to design and make a range of products suitable for a diabetic that could be sold in the healthy eating section of a supermarket. Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most?
Avatar n tn You should eat a small meal every 4 hours when you are diabetic. If you eat a big meal (or wrong food) in the evening your blood sugar will shoot up and you will feel good. During th early hours of the morning the blood sugar levels will drop and you wake up feeling bad. Try and eat a wholewheat sandwich with chicken breast (no mayonaise!) and tomatoe or something similar (low fat, low sugar) just before going to sleep.

Avatar n tn If your fasting blood sugar is consistently at this level, maybe you need to take your Metformin in the morning with breakfast to help with your meal time numbers (and not before you sleep). What is you Hba1c? Why were your prescribed metformin? What was the result that resulted in it's prescription? Please come back and let us know.
Avatar m tn BUT I CHECK MY BLOOD SUGAR, BEFORE MY BREAKFAST RESULT IS 5.44mmol/L, 98mg/dl, I TOOK 4 SMALL HOME MADE BREAD AND VEGETABLES WITH SHRIMPS, AFTER BREAKFAST MY SUGAR LEVEL WAS 9.38mmol/L, 169mg/dl. Can u say, what is it?
Avatar n tn t take my Novalog fast-acting insulin pen with me. However, I inject myself shortly after the meal, when I get back to the office. The max. amount of time I inject AFTER a meal is about 30 minutes. Is this a bad idea or should I assume that it's better to be late than never? I'm a 26 year old Type-1 diabetic by the way.
Avatar f tn I am thinking about starting this up on Monday 4/11. My plan would be 1 drink for breakfast, 1 light (maybe hard boiled egg or small fruit) snack (if needed) 1 drink for lunch, light snack (like Greek yogurt) and then a sensible dinner. I also plan to walk at least 20 minuets a day (hard to do more since I have to be at work by 8:30am and only have have half hour for lunch) plus 60 minuets on weekends. But I don't know if I would be taking in enough calories.
Avatar n tn 7:30am (breakfast), 9:30 am, noon, 5:30 pm (dinner), 7:30 pm, and 9:30 pm. My concern is the apparent difference in effectiveness of the Humalog which he takes at 7:30 am and 5:30 pm. He measures his blood sugar two hours after taking the Humalog (@ 9:30 am and @ 7:30 pm). Over a seven week period his 9:30 am reading has averaged 214 and his 7:30 reading has averaged 113). His physical activity during the 2 hour periods after taking Humalog are about the same.

Avatar m tn I tested before breakfast at 143, 2 hours after breakfast I tested at 251, 2 hours later after excersize I tested at 086. Are these types of spikes something that is normal? I really don't understand yet what to expect. Thanks in advance.
