I don't shoot up and down either, my sugars are fairly steady. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?
Avatar n tn Now a dx of Diabetic Type II has been made based on a 3-hour Glucose Tolerance Test. Told that Dr a year ago there was more going on that merely Thyroid and Perimenopause. Was I ever right! Turns out that in an overview of regular blood tests, I don't indicate any problems. Because of that, he turly believed nothing would be found abnormal. Fasting blood glucose is still in the Normal range despite it takes 3 hours on the GTT for my glucose to get back to a normal level.

Avatar n tn Dear Paralegal, i am not aware of any insurance systems that one can change to that will cover diabetic supplies unless you become diabetic while on the insurance as after that most insurance plans i'm aware of will not treat a pre-existing condition. The only area i'm aware of that may have the information you desire is the American Diabetes Association.

People with elevated triglyceride levels tend to have high total cholesterol so it is important to work on lowering this number. High cholesterol puts you at risk for heart disease and stroke.

I would suggest that you discuss your concerns about getting pregnant with your endocrinologist and your OB/GYN.
Evillady There is no "diabetic diet" its Carbohydrates that cause BG to rise. So reducing the carbs you eat will help in BG control. So I eat salad and steak, veggies, no fruit (fruit has a lot of carbs) eggs, bacon, cheese, chicken, fish, garlic, and lots of herbs and spices and hot spices. There are other diabetic news groups with recipe sections.
Avatar f tn So many times it comes back w false positives and stresses people out for Nothing. Then I think of the select few that decide to abort bc of the results. What if they had a perfectly healthy baby but went.off the tests?? I'll love my baby regardless of its health issues. And my cousin was.supposedly going to be born w downs 100% positive genetic test amnio etc. But she was perfectly healthy. Imagine that? Its not worth the heartache And.stress for me.
Avatar f tn My mother is a type 2 diabetic, two of her sisters were as well and died of diabetic complications. One had an amputation as did a brother of my father who was diabetic. I also have Hashimoto's thyroid disease. I am physically active, exercise daily and am of slender weight but so is my mother and were my aunts. Also, when I urinate it smells like a donut shop, It's the only way I can think to describe it, sorry. I eat a lot of fruits, veggies and whole grain foods.

Avatar n tn ) As you are probably aware, there is an association of increased risk for BC in menopausal women using combination HRT (estrogen and progesterone), esp. for lobular cancer. (I don't believe there is as much information re a link to BC when estrogen alone is used, but I could be wrong.) In the recent years since the trend has changed to using the lowest doses of HRT for the shortest possible time, BC rates in this country have dropped.

Unfortunately, one of the things that alcohol does is preventing this release of emergency sugars. If you do some research on this subject you will find that many doctors suggest that diabetics either don't drink alcohol at all or limit the intake to 1 drink.
Avatar f tn hi all, i'm 32 yrs and i hav 3 kids, my last is 2yrs old. i hav PCOS, but not diabetic, jus overweight, maybe by about 40lbs or so. my dr put me on bc to help regulate my cycle, which it did perfectly, before tht, 8mths would pass i and i wouldn't get a period. i was on bc for almost 2yrs, but came off it cuz we want to try for another baby(my hus is not gettin any younger lol). a few days after coming off bc i started takin metformin, it's been about 10 days.

You can find advice on alcohol consumption on the Diabetic website confirms what I wrote in my post. Don't drink more than 2 alcoholic drinks in a day. One alcoholic drink is equivalent to a 12 ounce beer. Drink slowly and only drink when eating food. Having a beer would be better than having a liqueur or sweet wine.

TSH was 0.19. FT3 was 2.54 and FT4 was 2.05................Doctor told me to come to 900 micro gram per week from previous 1400 micro gram per week................after 6 weeks TSH came to 2.14......................I went higher to 1050 microgram per week of thyroxin and now got the following results: TSH 0.
