Avatar f tn They did blood work and everything was fine there, they did a MRI on my back thinking maybe lumbar or a disc problem but there was a slight encroachment but that was not causing foot drop. They checked for diabetes and I was not diabetic. The Dr. Gave me an EMG and discovered nerve damage but could not locate exactly where but estimated it was from my hip. He called it sciatic neuropathy with unknown cause. I received a foot brace that fit in my shoe and it helped a little.
Avatar f tn I am a 50-year-old healthy, athletic female. In July 2008 I noticed as I walked down the hall at work early one morning that my left leg wasn't working right. It seemed it had forgotten how to move smoothly. I tried to ignore it, but over time I tripped more, limped more, and more and more people asked me what I'd done to myself that caused my limp. In the past year, I've had MRI of brain, neck, spine, EMG, and EEG and consulted with two neurologists as well as my primary doc.
Avatar f tn I quit drinking and smoking two and a half months before I found out I had diabetes. I now walk every day for at least 30 minutes and I count my carbs and eat a healthy and well balanced meal. Just because you have diabetes it doesn't have to have you. As long as you exercise and eat right you can manage your diabetes. It doesn't have to be a death sentence. Many people with diabetes live long lives because they have it under control.

Avatar m tn Today, 2 weeks after my Doctors visit I almost passed out while exercising. I was doing a very brisk walk and suddenly about 15 minutes into my workout I felt like something was pulling me the right. I couldn't go straight. Then I got very light headed and felt like I was going to lose consciousness. I sat down on the ground and I felt this pressure but no pain on the right side of my head. I sat there for a few minutes until my head somewhat cleared and I walked slowly back home.

Avatar f tn I usually set my self a 'blow out' day. Where I have a little of the sweet stuff I crave, but even then I limit it. I have mine on a Sunday as the shops aren't open here on Sunday so I don't go and buy extra. I can only have what is the house. It helps me to feel not so limited if you know what I mean. I reckon we crave the sweet stuff because we aren't allowed to have it...

Avatar f tn This is just a suggestion for those who are going to undergo surgery or have already undergone it, walk. Even if you feel like crap, or don't feel like you have the time just do it, even if it is just up and down the driveway. There were days, especially in the 2 weeks right after surgery that I felt like poop on a plate, but I made myself walk at some point during the day.
