Diabetes walk for hope

Common Questions and Answers about Diabetes walk for hope

diabetes

Avatar n tn I may be just the parent of a kid with diabetes, but I believe there is so much hope. The hope to remain free from complications because of good management. The hope of finding that new technology which improves your life and health. The hope of finding that cure someday. And it's more than just hope, it's the expectation that diabetes will not hold you back from doing anything that you want to do, from being anyone that you want to be.
Avatar f tn They did blood work and everything was fine there, they did a MRI on my back thinking maybe lumbar or a disc problem but there was a slight encroachment but that was not causing foot drop. They checked for diabetes and I was not diabetic. The Dr. Gave me an EMG and discovered nerve damage but could not locate exactly where but estimated it was from my hip. He called it sciatic neuropathy with unknown cause. I received a foot brace that fit in my shoe and it helped a little.
Avatar n tn I have been type 1 for 18 years now. In the past I drank heavily, smoked (until 2 yrs. ago) and I am currently about 50 pounds overweight. I have a 2 year old and it breaks my heart to look at her and think I might not be around to see her go on her frist date, or graduate from school or walk down the aisle. I think that I've done so much damage to myself that there is no hope for me. Is there any hope for me?
Avatar f tn I am a 50-year-old healthy, athletic female. In July 2008 I noticed as I walked down the hall at work early one morning that my left leg wasn't working right. It seemed it had forgotten how to move smoothly. I tried to ignore it, but over time I tripped more, limped more, and more and more people asked me what I'd done to myself that caused my limp. In the past year, I've had MRI of brain, neck, spine, EMG, and EEG and consulted with two neurologists as well as my primary doc.
Avatar n tn I had natural unmedicated childbirth with DS and SO wanted that for my DD. I am losing hope for a normal birth.
Avatar n tn The only answer I have for you is to find your hope in the things that you love doing. Find hope in all that you aspire and dream of being and doing someday. Do not let diabetes have power over your heart and your spirit. Instead, fill your heart and spirit with the things that make you happy instead. Good luck and all my best to you.
Avatar n tn ll tell you what though I am better at figuring out what is going on, now that I have had diabetes for 26 years! I could not tell if you are male or female-so I will just start listing some things that make my blood sugar go higher. Are you getting your period? Usually the week before mine my readings are higher. Have you had your thyroid checked?
Avatar f tn m doing insulin and everything is good for now, I eat and after I eat, I walk for 10 mins and that helps with my sugar to be low
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, and now my doctors has prescribe insulin, but they also say that I wont loose weight but should not gain either. What do I do to loose weight. I walk everyday for a half hour.

Avatar m tn Thanks for responding. My dad has never really had his diabetes under control, due to lack of trying, but right now he is at a point where he basicly just lays in bed in pain all day, and when he does get up he usually falls so my mom has been helping him out of bed to go to the bathroom. He is really weak. His Dr. has him on Diclofenac 75mg 2 per day, Hydralazine 25mg 3 per day, Lovastatin 40mg 1 tab at bed time, Gabapentin 800mg 4 per day, Carvedilol 12.
Avatar f tn Good luck hun, I no how your feeling :) xx
Avatar f tn Please ladies give me some hope that it will be negative. No one in our entire generation had diabetes. I am of weight too and I still believe the test is conducted on a wrong procedure.
Avatar m tn I had 6 strokes twenty years ago and have had a drop foot since then. I was fitted for the walk aid about a year ago and it was great !!!! But the insurance wouldn't pay for it. surprise, surprise ! I am asking if anyone has a walk aid for sale? right leg. I would really appreciate it.
667078 tn?1316000935 I have hope this will make him better for awhile longer. It is getting harder to walk but I still have hope. I used to live in fear now I live in hope. My life and situations have not changed but it is so much better. Fear is paralyzing and hope is energizing. I need all the energy I can get. If you want to see my "Pretty Dalmatian" look at my pictures I posted of Boomer. He was born with the funny hair. Seriously he does not have fur but human like hair.
Avatar f tn My father has diabetes. It's been for a long time. He was diagnosed with it, 6 months after i was conceived. I have signs of early onset but is there a chance of me getting diabetes. Most of my dad side family has it.
Avatar f tn Idk if i have it or not my one hour test came back slightly high and I'm literally in the hospital right now for the 3 hour test...i hope i don't have it but who knows....
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. My latest sed rate was 185 - normal is 20-30 for PMR (muscle disease). I bolus with Novolog and that brings my sugar down rather quickly. But you're right, I'll have to talk to my physician about this. I don't have an endo.
Avatar f tn The farther I walk the better I feel and even if I feel like crap it still helps!
Avatar f tn I thank you all for your input. The dr office called today we are going to St. Louis tomorrow for more xrays of her neck and a consult with the dr we are hoping to have her surgery Monday already. I am not sure what Ehler-Danlos is but I will def look it up. Her symptoms are headaches, hands and arms going numb and I guess the either her Chiari or the tetherd cord is causing leg weakness to the point she can no longer run and only walk a little ways before she has to sit.
Avatar n tn I feel like I have the wieght of the world on my shoulders sometimes, AND then I have to worry about diabetes. >=) I'm 25... had type I diabetes since I was 19. I did shots up until about a year ago till I switched to the pump. This winter I noticed I was urinating WAY too much and it was starting to become irritating/painful. I knew something was up, so my family doctor put me on anti-bacterial medicine for a possible tract infection (Been on them all week and I think its working).
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. The goal of therapy for diastolic dysfunction is focused on the causative factor for the dysfunction, like hypertension or infarction. The pulmonary hypertension is a consequence to this. So, as advised keep your pressures under control and check to rule out diabetes and dyslipidemia. Follow up with your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
