867582 tn?1311627397 There is no way I can walk in a walk-a-thon, so I am riding my scooter. It doesn't matter how you do the miles. I can't say I raised an enormous amount of money, just a couple of hundred, but every penny helps. When I asked about participating on my scooter, the MS chapter told me that was just fine. I figure by riding my scooter, it will also draw attention to the effects of MS on a person's life. Maybe next year, you can use a scooter. How do you get around otherwise?
Avatar f tn Ok and thanks. My problem though is that my mom thinks that I don't have heartburn or anything and claims that I don't need to see a doctor. My jog a thon is tomorrow, so every time I feel the blast of stabbing pain in my chest I shall stop and walk for now. It has been getting worse the more I have been doing physical activities.
Avatar f tn my cornea is thin of 461 and 464 with -6.5 and 7 and -1 cylindrical power.can the vision be corrected atleast to -3 by epi lasek or other refractory procedure?
Avatar f tn About 2 years ago I started waking up in the middle of the night with my hands, fingers, and knuckles grossly swollen. So swollen to the point I would be in pain. It looked like my hands were full of fluid. I could barley move or bend my fingers and felt as though they were parylized. Also I began gaining weight for no apparent reason. It started about when I got my gall bladder removed I have been tevery doctort. All were to no evail. Since my hand thing started ...
1162986 tn?1263517508 I did the read-a-thon as a kid, but never the walk. My area (Ontario) has five bike treks for MS, which I had to miss out on last year because I just wasn't well enough to ride, but with any luck I can train for them this summer. We'll see! Otherwise, perhaps the walk.

328927 tn?1227761840 She was throwing up a lot. Hopefully it's just a bug.
649848 tn?1534633700 -( I started off my day yesterday in a great mood... My daughter has Lupus and they were having a walk-a-thon, so I was planning to attend that with her. She had done an excellent job of raising money for the cause and was supposed to be awarded some prizes. Unfortunately, her estranged husband picked this weekend to be a jerk (putting it nicely) and turned the entire day upside down.
Avatar f tn I started using a cane after a nasty fall where I really hurt myself. Now I can hardly walk at all without assistance. My balance is terrible and my anxiety level is through the roof. Right leg is very weak and atrophy has set in. Recently I saw a Neurologist and discovered my left foot was also starting to drop. They immediately started testing for MS. After the brain scan MRI WAS DONE THEY RULED THAT OUT.
Avatar f tn My father has diabetes. It's been for a long time. He was diagnosed with it, 6 months after i was conceived. I have signs of early onset but is there a chance of me getting diabetes. Most of my dad side family has it.
Avatar f tn I am a 50-year-old healthy, athletic female. In July 2008 I noticed as I walked down the hall at work early one morning that my left leg wasn't working right. It seemed it had forgotten how to move smoothly. I tried to ignore it, but over time I tripped more, limped more, and more and more people asked me what I'd done to myself that caused my limp. In the past year, I've had MRI of brain, neck, spine, EMG, and EEG and consulted with two neurologists as well as my primary doc.
Avatar f tn Hey all! We took off TTCing in February and we're back to it this month! Starting this Sunday, we're having a week long conceive-a-thon! My thoughts are positive, We're going to just enjoy all the BDing, and MAYBE we'll end up with a little bean! SSBD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, and now my doctors has prescribe insulin, but they also say that I wont loose weight but should not gain either. What do I do to loose weight. I walk everyday for a half hour.

Avatar f tn I am the spokesperson for our local ConquerChiari Walk a thon... unfortunately as far as neuros go ... my inability to work any longer reduces my ability to travel to see anyone who could come close to being called a specialist... my doc has done quite a few decomps for chiarians and he did a great job for me ... the difficulty is getting back into see him ... welcome to the welfare medical system!!!
Avatar f tn That's what I do too. But my Dr put me on insulin while I'm pregnant. It must be working because my blood sugars have been great. I'm just scared that I'm going to screw up and hurt the baby.
Avatar f tn Remove all sugars, try to eat a salad before your meals, and walk daily. I had a very hard time adjusting to a new diet. I got the hang of it and have really low numbers now. This is my third pregnancy and first time having GD.
Avatar f tn Well, I won't lie, she is at risk. Diabetes is nothing to mess with, and I am sure hep c isn't either. A couple suggestions, you can try asking her to take a walk with you, see if she will drink sugar free soda (check on that, I don't know if that is ok for diabetics), and see if you can come up with some delicious healthy food to make her. Grilling food is way healthier as a rule than frying, or you can bake, but I am almost sure grilling is the best (eh, double check on that too).
Avatar n tn I was able to eat anything ... the key is more protein in your diet & a brisk walk after your meal or a little salsa dance! Thats how i controlled my numbers. At first i tried the diets recommended by the drs....but i was always still hungry or sometimes over on my #s.
Avatar f tn but if you ever (or often are not very active after drinking sugary drinks/eating a meal) drink a soda and watch a regular length movie without going for a long walk or doing some exercise it will not be very accurate... Your decision, but honestly I would really talk to your dr and not change what you do regularly! Trying to beat/cheat the test isn't a good idea...beat the test because you are healthy and really don't have GD!
1875160 tn?1330609662 Hello .. well I am about 6 week 1/2 pregnant now the problem is I have type two diabetes I've had it since I was 16 and now am 25 . I had got from obesity since then I have lost some weight not all . I was going for the sugery but found I'm pregnant. Now the doctors wants me to monitor my blood sugars but the thing is he wants me to try and bring it down to 120 so that the baby wouldn't be indanger any more .
Avatar f tn Until you can grasp which foods your body can tolerate it is extremely important to test your glucose preprandial [before a meal] and postprandial [2-3 hours after a meal]. Preprandial provides a baseline while postprandial tells you how the foods you ate 2-3 hrs earlier affect your glucose levels. Postprandial levels should be <141 mg/dl, better yet <121 mg/dl. Normal [70-99 mg/dl] is time to celebrate.
Avatar f tn Yeah ive tried everything but goes up more n i walk everywhere as i have 3 children
Avatar f tn Have dinner early and go for a walk, I've gahad 3 GTT this pregnancy, failed the first and passed the second two but I know I have GD, my sugars are over 10 at night 2 hrs after dinner. My mum had GD and she said eat early and go for a walk, bcos we r busy during the day and using energy your sugars are good, at night we eat then sit around or go to bed and that's why it stays high...
