Avatar n tn My father was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My uncle has type 2 diabetes as well. Recently I have just been looking into the common symptoms and have become rather concerned. I would like some clarity on whether these are actual symptoms of diabetes or not. 1. Most of the time during the days it seems like I'm always very hungry. 2. If I'm not weight lifting and eating A LOT of food I tend to lose weight. 3. Occasionally I feel very weak. 4.

Avatar n tn Vision changes and are a symptom of high blood sugar and with your family history, I would suggest having a glucose test done. Other symptoms of Type 2 diabetes (some similar to Type 1) would be extreme thirst and hunger, hard to heal wounds, weight loss, frequent urination, blurred vision, tingling and numbness and itchy skin. A CBC test will show the maturity and count of red and white blood cells but is not the tool used to diagnose diabetes.
Avatar f tn Back in January 2016 my 25 year old brother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. We have a family history of this but no one expected him to get it since he leads a very healthy lifestyle. It was a major shock for all of us. He then was told that he need to have his eyes dilated for an exam. My brother has had 20/20 vision his whole life. Since the exam his eyes have not returned to normal. Its now been 7 months and no one can figure out why this is happening.
Avatar m tn The difference between type 1 and type 2 essentially is in management. Typically type 2 diabetes has adult onset. It can often be managed through diet and lifestyle modification, with/or without the use of oral diabetes medication. Type 1 used to be called Juvenile Diabetes. This was the diabetes most frequently noted in children. This diabetes is managed by diet/lifestyle changes and the injection of insulin. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I am 34, exercise regularly, don't smoke, don't do drugs, eat fairly healthy. Two months ago I had a sudden episode of blurred vision, crossed eyes and couldn't see for 1 minute. I went and was tested for diabetes and also went to an eye doctor who checked my optic nerve. They found nothing. The eye doctor mentioned that it could be eye strain. I did just recently get a new job where I spend more time at my desk staring at my computer so I dismissed it as eye strain.
Avatar m tn If I read without my bifocals, I have to put the readiing material very close and it is somewhat blurred. But, after I read w/o glasses for an hour, my vision, both near and far are normal with my glasses. My Opthomologist is perplexed by the problem, and I am going to try other experiments to see what the results are. I will read with a pair of distance glasses from at least an arms length and see if it creates any blurring.
Avatar f tn The only thing that might be related to the diabetes is the blurred vision. Does the problem come and go or is it constant ? Possibility of Diabetes here is slim.
Avatar m tn This is my third week after doc said I was diabetic and changed eating patterns and began walking twice daily for 20 minutes. Also put on metforim at 1000 mg a day. I am on day 5 with blurred vision. My doc says it should clear up in a week and is caused from my body adjusting to lower blood levels. Any thoughts on this? This blurry vision is scaring me. It is horrible and I must use my strong reading glasses everywhere I go. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
