Avatar f tn The symptoms are quickly relieved once the diabetes is treated and under control. In Type 2 diabetes the signs and symptoms may not be so obvious, as the condition develops slowly over a period of years and may only be picked up in a routine medical check up. Symptoms are quickly relieved once diabetes is treated and under control.
Avatar n tn Recently i have been experiencing extreme thirst, frequent urination and hand shakes. I know theses are some symptoms of diabetes however I have not experienced any weight loss. Is there another possible explanation for my symptoms? Are these enough symptoms to be concerned about possible diabetes?
Avatar n tn i have listed below the warning signs andd symptoms of diabetes. if your child has any otf these symptoms i wouod contact your doctor immediately to have him checked out. Knowing the warning signs for type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes) could save a child's life.
Avatar n tn Other signs to watch for are frequent urination, dramatic weight loss, and sometimes the symptoms can mimic the stomach flu. If your daughter is especially active, the 5-8 bottles of liquid you mention may be what her body requires to stay hydrated in the summer's heat. Just to put things in perspective for you, just prior to my son's diagnosis he was drinking gallons of water a day and begging for more!
Avatar m tn my husband had signs and symptoms of diabetes for 15years before he went to see a doctor. After all the usual tests it was confirmed and he has started on medication. He has diabetic retinopathy for which he is getting treatment and regular B12 injections and the doctor has given him all the usual checks. He last saw him in July last year but has seen the nurse for a blood test twice and his b12 injections. My worry is that he hates going to the doctor but he is getting increasingly weak .
Avatar m tn I am concerned lately that I am cold all the time. That is very unusual for me, truthfully the exact opposite. I realize that I am now thirsty alot more often and have even lost control of my bladder in the middle of the night while asleep. I feel that I have been eating much less but haven't lost any weight. I am a bit confused about these symptoms so am wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions....thanks!
Avatar f tn You need to go the doctor. One of the symptoms of diabetes is weight loss. And really, since you were working out hardcore, your body weight should have really gone up since muscle weighs more than fat. One of the signs that I ignored was when my 13 year old lost weight. He was a tad on the chunky side and I attributed his weight loss to puberty and biking around the neighborhood more since it was summer.
Avatar n tn The frequent urination comes from the body tryting tto digest the nbodies fat cell for energy since you are not using insulin to digest injested food, thus the weight loss. You may also notice excessive thirst and fatigue. These are symptoms of type one dibetes which doesn't have as much of a family history ar type two. Type two used to be called adult onset and type one juvenile.
Avatar f tn By the time the glucose overrides the kidneys filtration system and shows up in the urine, your dog would be showing signs. More importantly, speak with your vet about weight loss strategies. Like in people, diabetes in pets can usuallybe prevented through maintaining a proper weight. Your dog will have more energy, arthritis will be less of a concern, even cancer rates are lower in lean dogs and cats. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I have adopted a two year old son. He is a little short for his age but he is stalky. When we first got him about 6 months ago he would eat anything and everything you put in front of him. Now he has gotten to where he will hardly eat anything but he drinks constantly. It doesn't matter what you give him to drink he will drink all of it and instantly want more. When he is drinking he drink he doesn't just drink it he downs almost the entire drink before sitting it down.
Avatar m tn Have you been tested for Diabetes? Unexplained weight loss is one of the signs, also increased thirst. Drinking, especially to the degree that you have indicated will only make it worse. The sugar in the alcohol could be throwing your whole system off. I hope you get some answers soon!
Avatar m tn Frequent urination and unintentional weight loss are classic signs of diabetes. See Dr as soon as possible for bloodwork. Also you can purchase a glucose meter at any pharmacy to check before then. But you will need a Dr to tell you if it is def diabetes or not.
1080243 tn?1262975363 The fatigue and weight loss could very much be symptoms of diabetes. He should get checked with an A1C (an average of blood sugars for the last couple months). He should also have his Type clarified as weight loss often comes with Type 1 (or LADA, a slow onset type 1) not Type 2. If he becomes ill with flu-like symptoms and vomiting he needs to go to the ER. If the numbers were not blood sugar readings, ignore this advice!
Avatar f tn Nausea after eating, increased thirst, unexplained weight loss, and frequent headaches are potential warning signs of type 1 diabetes [more so than type 2 diabetes]. They also raise a red flag to a number of potential gastrointestinal issues. Bottom line is he needs to be evaluated by a doctor asap.
460185 tn?1326077772 Hi hon, Yes I remember your kitty and his situation! So you did shave him - I'm sure it made him much more comfortable. And no, it certainly doesn't sound trivial in the least. He's your friend and your baby, his well being is extremely important. It might just take longer to grow in in that area. You could try gently brushing the area, with a very soft brush to stimulate growth. I have had good results recently with something similar on the back of my cat Nighteyes.
2104507 tn?1333752737 With the FT3 and FT4, you also need another TSH. Some people function better with a higher TSH, which is why you need to know the actual thyroid hormone levels. You should also get actual insulin levels tested, if you can. This should be drawn during a period of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). If insulin is detectable, the indication is insulin resistance, which means your body is producing insulin, but using it. Talk to your doctor about this.
Avatar m tn My cat is 10 years old and has some strange symptoms, similar to diabetes. Before bringing her to the vet, which will be quite costly, I want to try some tests at home. My friend told me of 3 brands that are available on-line: Glucotest, Petcheckup and Pawcheck. Does anyone know anything about these? Thanks.
