When the brain remains deprived of glucose, a later set of symptoms follows: ifficulty in thinking, confusion, eadache, seizures, and coma. 1090423 tn?1286287650 Do i have diabetes , my symptoms are dry mouth , frequent urination , skin sores , shortness of breath and cramping in my legs and arms .
Avatar f tn I have type 2 diabetes and have for 11 yrs, I thought I had diabetes for a while before I was actually diagnosed and not knowing enough, did not press my doctors reasoning for not thinking my higher blood sugar readings were not significant enough. He did not do a Hemoglobin A1c test. Just a blood glucose which was showing high blood sugar readings for some time, and he for whatever reason didnt think it signficant enough.
1918828 tn?1328123158 Hypothyroidism can cause the symptoms you listed. Have you been tested for diabetes? I've read that many people with diabetes have the thick, dark skin under knees, elbows, etc.
Avatar f tn With small fiber neuropathies, symptoms include burning, tingling, or buzzing or other vague symptoms starting in the feet and hands then in some cases spreading to other parts of the body. The EMG/nerve conduction studies (NCS) (tests done to check for neuropathy) will not show an abnormality, and a definitive diagnosis can only be made with a skin biopsy so that the number of nerve endings can literally be counted.
Avatar n tn s decently bad and is turning a dark purple color with grey skin and white skin surrounding it. The doctor who discovered it said he might have to get this foot amputated as well. His medical center is the VA hospital and they think his diabetes may be caused by Agent Orange[which he was exposed to during Vietnam.] He's had a prosthetic leg for almost a year now also.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms, however, particularly, the thirst and dehydration, hunger and eating more with weight loss, pale, itchy skin and red bumps are more indicative of diabetes. I suggest that you get tested for that, along with getting your thyroid hormones levels tested asap. With your history of, both, hyper and hypothyroidism, you should be getting your thyroid levels tested every 3-4 months, if not more often.
Avatar m tn Thanks for using the forum. The usual symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, thirst, blurred vision, feeling tired, cuts/bruises that are slow to heal, frequent infections and numbness and tingling in the distal extremities. Some of these match up with the symptoms that you are experiencing. However, your symptoms are also common with many other ailments. I would suggest seeing your doctor.
Avatar n tn itchy skin all over the body. I scratch until I bleed.
Avatar m tn Blisters can be caused by intense rubbing or friction. They can also be seen in moist skin as one always covered with sweat or water. The symptoms can also be due to chemical irritants or poison ivy or eczema or dermatitis. If diabetes is not control then the symptoms may be aggravated. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar n tn Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the cause of your symptoms are. however, I will try to provide you with some possibilities regarding tingling in the fingers and toes. If this occurs in the setting of anxiety or stress, when you are breathing fast and shallow (what is termed hyperventilation) this could just be due to the changes in the blood that occur with this type of breathing pattern, and the solution would be slower deeper breaths.
Avatar f tn Full blown and un-treated diabetes may lead to a condition called ketoacidosis. When this happens your skin will taste sweet and produce an instantly recognizable pungent odor. Diabetics using insulin may get a smell like acetone. And then a change in diet eating foods like eggs, garlic, onions, liver, red meat, fish, processed foods, legumes, fried foods, curry, or spicy foods too much will produce strange BO's.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Your daughter has many of the classic symptoms of diabetes. I didn't even know this until I checked on it, but diabetes makes kids more susceptible to skin problems including itching. I think you would be prudent to get her to the doctor as soon as you can. I hope the diagnosis isn't what I suspect it is. Good luck.
1580703 tn?1651904887 t have all these symptoms from this infection. most of these symptoms are directly related to your diabetes that needs to be controlled better :( do you follow up regularly with your endocrinologist? does your insurance offer nurses who specialize in diabetes to work with your regularly?
Avatar m tn m now in control of my disease. Except for one side effect that is driving me crazy! My skin is sticky. My Dr. says it's common, but no one I've met with diabetes has this hideous side effect. I don't know what kind of soap/shampoo to use to keep a waxy kinda film from building up. Been through baby shampoo, dove soap, dish soap and this does help.
Avatar n tn Yes, these are all symptoms of type I diabetes in children. My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
Avatar m tn Those symptoms MIGHT be related to diabetes, but if that were what was going on you would most likely also have unusual and increased thirst and urination, possible weight loss. Those symptoms can indicate many different conditions including stress (which if your tag is your profession would be understandable!). I would see your PCP and have a complete physical and discuss the possible meaning of your symptoms with him or her.
Avatar n tn m 18 years old, and I frequently worry that I have diabetes. I seem to see a lot of the symptoms in myself, but most just call me a hypochondriac. Let's hope they're right. I tend to exibit Lethargy, whether or not it's just because i'm a teenager or not is unknown, I don't usually have to urinate much, but i do crave drinks often. I don't over-eat, if anything, I under-eat. That's one to two meals a day. I think I get enough exercise, but I could be wrong.
Avatar m tn Several weeks ago after my physical.. My blood test came in with Trigly at 244 (I ate something which I forgot) instead of < 150 Uric Acid at 8.7 on a 4-7.8 scale and A1C at 6 in a scale of < 5.7. I also taking allupurinol for my Gout (which rarely have problems) but stopped taking it due to sudden body itch all over. After 6 weeks I had stopped taking Allupurinol my body, arms, underarms are itchy and skin feels blotchy. Am I having this problem due to be a predibetic? What can I do?..
Avatar f tn Hey, sorry for the delay in my response. My symptoms frequently change and so my focus tends to follow whatever the "ailments of the month" are. I am having to accept that drinking wreaked havoc on my body and a lot of symptoms haven't manifested in any diagnosis. For example, the diabetes. My blood sugar was 125 on three checks. Compounded with other apparent tell-tale signs, I was convinced. However, my Dr. being obviously smarter than me was reluctant to diagnosis it.
Avatar m tn It is felt in the upper skin side. Nothing can be seen by naked eye. The skin seems to be dry and have no. of black moles. I am using moisturizer and talcum powders, have some temporary relief for some times, but the burning sensation is continuing. Is it some type of skin cancer or skin disease. Recently I have also got burning sensation in my sole of two legs. Kindly advise me for a permanent solution for the burning sensations. I shall be thankful to you sir.
