Avatar n tn Fortunately, there are several options which can treat symptoms effectively. In severe cases surgery may effectively stop the excessive sweating. The National Health Service (NHS), UK, mentions that the biggest challenge in treating hyperhidrosis is the significant number of people who do not seek medical advice, either due to embarrassment or possibly because they do not know that effective treatment exists.
Avatar m tn Hey, Thanks a lot for the advice. I'm in the UK so I'm at the mercy of the NHS depending which endocrinologist I see. I could pay to go private but that's kinda a last resort as it'll be pretty expensive. I'v decided to start taking Olive Leaf Extract as I'v heard it's pretty good for fatigue and stuff, kinda guessing that it can't do me any harm even if it doesn't help.
Avatar m tn He should talk to a doctor to find out if it's a sign of diabetes or not. I know the artificial sweetener in diet sodas has other issues of its own. It's plausible-sounding that it could be diabetes or maybe some kind of kidney issue.

Avatar m tn m not sure about current estimates of the prevalence of HIV in London area men who have sex with men. One in 7 sounds too high for gay men in general, but it could be true for some, e.g. those who are frequently and outwardly unsafe (frequent anonymous partners, barebacking, etc). The GUM clinic will know; or you could look up information from the UK Health Protection Agency (HPA); I imagine they have a website and/or a public information phone number.
Avatar n tn Nothing is new or change on diabetes medicines. Where do I find a new tact? No special/change diet for diabetes. Its bad smell happens to me just few months ago. Thank you anyway.
Avatar n tn From what I know diabetes can cause impotence in men. It affects autonomic nerves, which go from your spinal cord to your lungs, heart, stomach, intestines, bladder, and sex organs. Men who have had diabetes for many years can be affected by the damage to these nerves, resulting in impotence. The Joslin Diabetes Center website has some information on how to treat this condition. You may find it at: https://store.joslin.org/Beginners_guide_605.
Avatar m tn This is how we would handle it in the USA. I am lead to believe by many posters much more difficult in UK under NHS. 1. Scedule and appointment with an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Your symptoms do not suggest glaucoma. Also see your personal MD to rule out diabetes, hypertension, etc.
Avatar m tn I have had chlamydia and gonorrhoea before and noticed a similar smell when i had chlamydia, so i immediately thought it would of been a common STD. However i have been to the NHS sexual health service several times and the tests came back negative. I have even paid for a private sexual health test that tests for 8-9 different STDs and all results have been negative. I have consulted with my local GP and he took a urine sample and could not find anything either.
Avatar f tn I also have 3 relitaives in the family with PCOS and have some symptoms altho non of the masculin symptoms. I also read either cortisol or insulin resistance can cause glaucoma? i cant remember which one, i was diagnosed with glaucoma 2 years ago.

Avatar f tn I am currently on the NHS and I recently spoke to FTB4 about receiving a second opinion regarding my symptoms, is that possible to do on the NHS and where I live? I don't really want to pay for anything private as I'm currently jobseeking. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Urine test reveals, more often than not, the presence of diabetes. That was certainly the case with me. However, in early stages or in the pre-diabetes stage your kidneys may not be 'spilling out" the excess glucose from your blood and one may get a false sense security. This situation can last for a number of years with consequent damage to your organs by the high blood glucose.
Avatar f tn I have very little confidence in the NHS lately with a condition the doctors missed in my son. Is it time to go private? If so can anyone tell me how to go about this and does anyone know how much it will cost?
Avatar f tn Dear Katiexx145, Male breast cancer is rare, but one out of every 150 cases of breast cancer involves a man, usually in men over 60 years old. It is impossible, over the internet without ability to further evaluate, to say for sure what this lump is. This could represent many things and does not mean it is a cancer. However, a persistant lump that is increasing in size is something that should be checked out - as he is now doing.
Avatar f tn Hi I have some symptoms that are causing me concern. I have an increase in white patches on my skin and after extensively googling as to what it could be I have narrowed it down to vitiligo or morphea which I believe are both caused by autoimmune illness. I don't see my doctor about this until Thursday so that he can know for sure what my skin problem is.
Avatar f tn My girlfriend was diagnosed with THRUSH yesterday (of the mouth), several days after performing oral sex on me. Her Dr feels it is possible that it was present in my semen. He said it would be"milky". I checked my semen and it seems ok, a translucent slightly off white with a normal consistency. I have no rash, sores etc.,no discomfort, no fever. I am finding very little info on male yeast infections but what I have found says I would be in discomfort and have red spots on my genitals.
Avatar f tn It says online u need 1.6 litres of water a day I'm probably drinking 3 times that amount since pregnant I'm constantly thirsty. I've been tested for diabetes and it was negative.

Avatar m tn In what way could it be a sign of diabetes?
Avatar n tn t just NHS but private as well. It made me wonder if acl reconstruction is less successful in the UK because the NHS doesn't like to pay for it and therefore pts don't get as much experience dealing with aclr patients. This is just my theory but I've heard the success rate is about 90% but that might just be for America.
