Avatar f tn My 84 year-old mother had diabetes mellitus and has had 3 strokes, one of them massive within a 5- year period about 4 years ago, 3 heart attacks after that within the past year which left her with congestive heart failure. In January of this year her primary care doctor sent her home with hospice care saying that she could last 1, 2 or as long as 6 months because of the congestive heart failure. As the days go by, she gets weaker and weaker, now not able to even stand with assistance.

I'm guessing that s/he is not a diabetes specialist and that's the type of physician who should be guiding your diabetes care. Specialists might be called endocrinologist or diabetologist. None of us here is a physician, but we're long-time diabetics or care-givers for diabetic children. You didn't mention if you've been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2, and the treatment options vary for these types.

The light headedness may happen if there is inadequate supply of oxygen to the brain. This can happen with cardiac disorders or lung disorders. In cardiac disorders there is inadequate pumping of blood and in lung disorders there is inadequate oxygenation. It could also be due peripheral arterial blood disorders.

A heart attack (myocardo infraction) damages heart cells and impairs heart wall movement causing low cardiac output and requires emergency treatment to prevent cell necrosis (dead heart cells). I assume CABG was to help control symptoms rather than a heart attack emergency. If I understand the situation, your husband had 4 blockages that were bypassed in October.
