Avatar f tn As a close, I find it rather odd that you post on a diabetes forum about issues with your cholesterol and triglycerides yet fail to mention anything related to diabetes except your Metformin dose. How stable and under control is your diabetes or is it running rampant like your cholesterol and triglycerides? If you have an eating disorder there is a MedHelp forum for that.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your comments. What kind of questions should I ask him? My blood preassure used to only go up when I went into his office. The old white coat syndrome. The cholestrol hasn't gone down but he didn't seem to be concerned at first until the new standards came out. Even off the pravachol for 2 months when my husband was down last year, then going back on it showed no difference. So I do think that the medicine is not working.
Avatar m tn No sugar. Because I am Native American. I am predisposed to diabetes. I suggest watching Dr. Berg videos on YouTube. You'll learn a lot, and feel better. He is very detailed.
329994 tn?1301663248 Hello, I am a 56 year old female with Fibromyalga, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Diabetes and Microvascular Disease. I currently take Gabapentin, Verapamil, Potassium, Lasix, Metformin, Talwin, and Amrix. I used to take Hydrocodone for back pain and overall pain from the Fibromyalgia. But I developed an allergy to it. So, my doctor switched me to Talwin, which works ok. No allergy to it. We had recently moved and I had to find a new pain doctor.
Avatar n tn Some diabetic medications do this. You can talk to your doctor about a different medication, but none will make you lose weight.

Avatar m tn There was just a report on the news last week that statins have been linked top type II diabetes. My wife is on 80mg of Simvastatin while I'm on 20mg. Coincidence or not, we both contracted type II in recent years. I believe that the benefits pf statins outweigh the risks and have altered my eating lifestyle so to nearly exclude carbohydrates. This has enabled me to continue statin regime while keeping my fasting blood glucose levels at acceptaptable unmedicated levels.

Avatar n tn In Type 1 diabetes, about 60 percent of those individuals develop kidney disease. I was just wondering - of all the Diabetics on this forum .... how many have had endocrinologists put you on medication to *prevent* kidney failure soon after your were first diagnosed? My endo is really pushing to put me on medication in case (and I stress the words "in case") I may get Kidney Disease. I have no signs of it or have it now. My Kidneys are healthy.
Avatar n tn It is also a new practice (Joslin diabetes center - one of the world'sleading diabetes management and research centres) to start all persons with diabetes on insulin instead of oral meds. Glipizide is a drug that makes your pancreas put out more insulin so it can cause lows. It can also make your pancreas burn out faster. So do research this and consider stopping this drug (in coordination with your Dr.) Metformin does not have this effect. So you can ask your Dr.

Avatar f tn Your medications generally do not cause diabetes. The hydrochlorothiazide in Dyazide can increase blood sugar levels in diabetics. If not already doing so, try some lifestyle modifications such as exercising regularly, eating few carbohydrates and sugars, and avoid smoking.
Avatar m tn so, I haven't noticed it before, because my eyes look quite normal on all pictures but recently I have noticed that when I take pictures looking in the front, the pupil of the right eye is a bit higher than the left one. I also tried to take a picture when I have opened my eyes as hard as I could and the right pupil looks to be on the right place and the left one seems to be a bit lower. Please see the pictures and post your opinion. Am I squint? and if I am, can this be cured?
Avatar f tn Hello, if your numbers are so high then your medications are not working for you. YOu risk complications if your numbers can't be brought down. Target fasting is < 95 (ideally), and Target 2 hours after eating is < 140, but ideally < 120. You need a change in medication or possibly even insulin. If you are controlling your diet, I suggest you look into following a low carbohydrate diet, which may improve your numbers.
Avatar n tn Really depends on your blood sugar levels and your medications. if medications are adjusted right then it should not be necessary to snack between meals. eating lower carb will also help avoid highs and keep levels more stable (though medications may possibly also need to be reduced.
