Avatar f tn If you have insurance you can go by their list of doctors and associated clinics. If you have no insurance then not all states have the same medical agencies for example Scripps and Kaiser is only in California. You can always go to a large university hospital. Best to try a friend who knows the area that you are going to. I don't believe there is a network across the US that is connected.

Avatar n tn I think it only works this way for in-network doctors/hospitals. Out of network, I think it becomes a battle between the insurer and doctor/hospital. But surely, the insurance company will not care to fight for good pricing very much before the deductible is met. I think that with indemnity plans, it is like always being out of network. So only a very small incentive for the insurer to fight for low pricing for you until the deductible is met.

Avatar f tn You want to check on diabetes. People who develop acanthosis nigricans often are obese or have diabetes or both. So, it would be wise to investigate further. I understand it is complicated with your son's autism, but this would be worth knowing. Since you do the shopping, you have some control over diet. Losing weight may be what is required of him although I realize that is hard. Hard for us all but particularly with your son.
