Avatar f tn 2% is equivalent to a daily glucose level of 146 to 160 mg/dl, well into diabetes land. A normal A1c is 4.1 - 5.0% which is 70 to 99 mg/dl. Diabetes starts at an A1c of >6% and where complications began to take shape. There are many drug company sponsored web sites wanting one [and some doctors] to believe higher than normal A1c and/or glucose levels are OK when in fact it induces diabetes side effects.

Avatar f tn Is there some particular reason doctors fail to test for appropriate nutrient levels as a root cause of diabetes before they they begin their lifelong treatments of the symptoms?
1539037 tn?1294318628 The test at 13 weeks was enough according to the doctors here. Search the website and you will find many who agree.
Avatar m tn But any case you should ask your doctors these questions. You should want to be tested for HIV if you have to worry about it this much. Good Luck!
11037407 tn?1414769352 Do Doctors care about the common folk? I really do not think so if they keep getting symptoms that match yet they all (Doctors) tell us it is in our imaginations. So man people saying the same thing, yet this site say's "179 doctors online to help you." Okay, I WANT HELP!!!!!!!!! I have the same thing and they are real. If there is a real Doctor somewhere in this site that honestly cares like they are suppose to then come to Northern California and you will have your lab rat- ME!
1182699 tn?1297574784 Juvenile diabetes, in some cases, can be associated with gluten and/or casein intolerances. It's possible getting off of gluten (which is in wheat, barley, rye and oats) could solve the problem. I would get shaky, feel faint and have heart racing after eating gluten containing foods - I didn't realize the gluten was causing the problem until I got off of it. When I cheated a little, I would get the same symptoms again. Just a thought.
Avatar n tn My son does that as well but I'm also teeny tiny so he doesn't have much room to move.

Avatar f tn Fasting blood sugars between 100 and 125 are considered pre-diabetes. 126 and over are diabetes.
Avatar f tn You want to check on diabetes. People who develop acanthosis nigricans often are obese or have diabetes or both. So, it would be wise to investigate further. I understand it is complicated with your son's autism, but this would be worth knowing. Since you do the shopping, you have some control over diet. Losing weight may be what is required of him although I realize that is hard. Hard for us all but particularly with your son.
