Avatar f tn Im borderline gd and my dr prrscribed me a glucose meter to check my sugars 4 times a day. I have weekly appointments and they are watching me closely bc i had low fluids at 30 weeks. I get a non stress test and an ultrasound fluid check every week and we also review my sugars. Lately they have been high, not just a little high but like 155 (normal is below 120) and they seem to be unconcerned about it. My baby is 3 weeks ahead in growth and i am getting more and more uncomfortable.

As the previous poster said it can mean a much bigger baby and even possibly a c section whether you want one or not. I recommend sticking to a very strict diet if you ate diagnosed with diabetes or gestational diabetes.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there is no perfect diet and there no perfect diet for diabetes. But avoiding simple carbs is good for everyone. A BG meter is a good tool to use. Check out everything. Even beans. Yes some people have a very large and long lasting spike on beans, even though books suggest it as a good choice. Supplements can help some people. If you want to go in that direction consider things like chromium, they help some people control BG.
