Avatar n tn No. HbA1C of 6.2% is well within the normal limits of all Diabetic association guidelines. Also Fasting Blood Sugar of 88mg/dL is normal. This is in case if he is not on any anti-diabetic medication. Otherwise I would call it well controlled Diabetes. Allthough an assessment if he has Pre-diabetes needs to be done by his body weight and OGTT test.
Avatar n tn Yours kept taking me to the main page. Using the ADA search button, I found the reference using key words "check glucose" which brought up a bunch of useful information. In fact it returned 750 hits. For those of you reading this, use key word(s) in the ADA site search button to retrieve information that are "not" seen on their main page and main page sub-listing categories. Its not the most intuitive of sites to navigate.

Avatar n tn t make sense for it to be OK for type 2 diabetics to have higher levels and have those higher levels be considered normal/acceptable. If they refer to web sites such as the ADA [American Diabetes Association] or the Canadian Diabetes Association web site did you know both are sponsored by major drug firms, and there are others including several major hospitals. The wolf is watching the sheep.

Avatar n tn I tend to get dizzy, light head, and anxiety, dry mouth and eye irritations often. I also feel that Diabetes also have simillar symptoms. I was not told that I have blood sugar problems by the Doctors. But seems like all the symptoms of diabetes. Avatar f tn I'm quite interested in the association between diabetes and HCV. However, all the research seems to be with type 2 diabetes, either 'caused' by HCV treatment or in association with HCV chronic infection. I wonder how many people there are who have HCV and were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as adults... I was diagnosed with type 1 in my early 20s.
1215139 tn?1348197429 According to the American Diabetes Association, eating a lot of sugar does not cause diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused by genetics, Type 2 diabetes is caused by genetics and lifestyle. Being overweight will increase your risk of developing diabetes. A diet high in calories (whether those calories are from sugar or from fat) can lead to you being overweight which is one of the risk factors for diabetes. I hope this answers your question.

Avatar f tn My obgyn office says I have gestational diabetes, even though my blood sugars (tested for a week because I refused the glucose test) are within range of non-diabetic pregnant women according to the American Diabetes Association. I don't shoot up and down either, my sugars are fairly steady. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?
Avatar m tn Hi..my mum has liver cirrhosis for the past 30 years and she also has Diabetes Type 2. Our Local MO has recommended Galvus 50mg for diabetes medication. However, after further reading on the net I found that Galvus 50mg is not for liver patients.. the problem is I can't seem to find any suitable medication for her diabetes which would NOT effect her liver condition. I welcome any suggestion or recommendation from members and medical practitioners here please..

Avatar m tn Hi, the American Diabetes Association recommends a post-meal glucose level less than 180 mg/dl and pre-meal plasma glucose of 90–130 mg/dl. Please note that the postmeal glucose level is taken two hours after the meal. You should also consistently check these levels as a single abnormal value doesn't mean diabetes. I hope this helps.
