243097 tn?1233755999 No baby will not drown in the fluid. They practice breathing it in and out during pregnancy and when they are born, the birth process forces any fluid from their lungs, and the doctors suction them out after they're born.
7463033 tn?1399311106 I read a post on the 25-34 forum about someone having too much amniotic fluid && it got me wondering how they check your fluid levels && when does that start ? Also , what determines how much you should have .
Avatar f tn U will be able to monitor your diet and watch ur bloods and u will be fine.they usually bring u in at 38 weeks and induce u when u have gestational diabetes. Im sure your baby will be perfectly healthy.best of luck.
Avatar n tn m happy to try and help answer your question. You have low amniotic fluid? A normal AFI is 5 to 25 cm. What is your number? There are different reasons to have low amniotic fluid. Here is an article. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn In almost seven percent of pregnancies, amniotic fluid problems develop. Imbalances in amniotic fluid volume can cause pregnancy complications. In very rare events, amniotic fluid may even pass through the placenta and enter the mother's bloodstream, causing a life-threatening pregnancy complication called amniotic fluid embolism. Oligohydramnios Pregnant women with low levels of amniotic fluid have a condition known as oligohydramnios.
4322328 tn?1353998038 hi im 26+1 according to my ultrasound and doctor my amniotic fluid is upper normal. normal but to many. what will happened to my baby then? wasn't able to ask my ob during my check up :( im a bit worried.
Avatar n tn Im 33 weeks and had a sonagram this week. Their saying i have to much amniotic fluid. Anyone else have this? What happened? Did they induce?
Avatar f tn Too much amniotic fluid is an indication of issues. Can be diabetes or abnormalities with the pregnancy or the baby.
Avatar f tn They told me at my docs office that my fluid was low, sent me for an ultrasound a week later at the hospital and the fluid was fine. But i found that on google so you would know what could be wrong if anything. You gotta keep in mind too that the baby is swallowing and then peeing out that fluid. So if they just caught it after it peed it out but hadn't swallowed much yet that could make a difference too if it was super excessive.
7566904 tn?1394763978 Well when I went to get my baby monitored the other day because I couldn't feel all his movements she said that I could have alot of amniotic fluid. Byt she didn't say anything about getting it checked out or anything. So idk if I should ask my Dr or not. Plus my feet are sooo swollen. Should I call and tell them?
Avatar f tn We can even leak urine when pregnant, I hate to say and have watery discharge. So, normally they check your amniotic fluid levels which I assume they did or you and it was fine. So, it likely was not the fluid you were leaking. When is your follow up with your OB?
Avatar n tn I had a check up with the midwife today and it seems there is an excess of amniotic fluid around baby. They did a glucose test as it can be a sign of gestational diabetes apparently. I won't get the results for another two days. I feel huge and am now quite worried! Has anyone else been through this? It may turn out to be nothing serious but of course I looked it up on the internet and could mean a number of quite serious complications.
Avatar f tn s found in pregnancy is that black women or women carrying 1/2 black babies often have extra amniotic fluid in their second trimester and then it resolves by itself and seems to be a normal healthy variation. I don't think he's published this finding anywhere. So are black or partially black?
377412 tn?1283809646 Has anyone ever had amniotic fluid leakage? Im 6 mo and for some reason my discharged seem to have increased. I dont feel dehydrated but it is almost 100 degrees out everyday. But my first thought was leakage. Im going to take my 3 hour diabetes test tommorrow and Im going to ask my doctor.
Avatar n tn But not in all cases.i dont have diabetes and yet ive alot of fluid and large baby.my baby is almost 8lb and im only 36wks. They cant find any reason for this.they are giving me a c-section at 39 wks.by that stage my baby could be well over 10lb. My first child was 6lb 2oz at 41wks!
362119 tn?1223137936 I dont think there is anything to worry about in general, I always carry a lot of amniotic fluid with all my pregnancies, and all my children turned out 100% fine, I was also able to have a vaginal delivery with all of them. They could possible reduce the amount of fluid, but beings you are so far along it is probably unlikely.
Avatar f tn amniotic fluid index (AFI) and maximum vertical pocket (MPV). The AFI checks how deep the amniotic fluid is in four areas of your uterus. These amounts are then added up. If your AFI is less than 5 centimeters, you have oligohydramnios. The MPV measures the deepest area of your uterus tocheck the amniotic fluid level. If your MPV is less than 2 centimeters, you have oligohydramnios. Ask your health provider if you have questions about these measurements.
Avatar f tn I am 28 weeks and during my ultrasound this morning, I was told I have a little too much amniotic fluid. Thwy said it could be gest diabetes, a fluke or possible birth defects. I am over weight so they're thinking its gest diabetes and I go for a glucose test tomorrow but iam ofcpurse concerned with thw birth defects. I had the panorama test done and everything came back negative with that so I know I probably have nothing to worry about, I just help myself from worrying a little.
Avatar f tn t think it was amniotic fluid but they are testing it to see and they also took a few more samples just to be safe of what it could possibly be.
Avatar f tn I did and it just may make for a bigger baby my son is measuring 7 pounds 4 ounces at 35 weeks and estimated to be a 9 to 10 pound baby when born
Avatar f tn I am 6 weeks 3 days pregnant, and since the very start of my pregnancy I've had some leakage. I wear a liner everyday, but it isn't enough to have to change it throughout the day, or soak through. It is a clear fluid, and I've never noticed a smell to it. Could this actually be amniotic fluid like I was told it was? Or do you think this is more of a watery discharge?
Avatar f tn I'm 35.5 and have had too much fluid for about 3 weeks now. They did a double and triple check for diabetes all was fine. All ultrasounds are showing notification normal and can see our lil lady swallowing and everything. Dr told me it sometimes just happens without much explanation and they have continued to monitor. She's weighing in at 7lbs 12oz and with extra fluid Dr thinks she'll be arriving early but otherwise looks healthy.
9489952 tn?1404326682 I went in for my ultrasound and 45 min later I got called back into the hospital for a nst.. even though I just had one yesterday. I asked what the problem is and they said I have excessive amniotic fluid and wanted to make sure baby was ok.. has anyone else ever had this?
Avatar n tn Hello, I'm 35 weeks and was told that I have a little extra amniotic fluid. I don't have gestational diabetes, no high blood pressure I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and how was your babies? How was labor? All input is awesome! Thank you!
1661682 tn?1313135396 I believe it was the week before labor.. I thought it might be amniotic fluid but it didnt keep coming and seeing as my bag never ruptured on its own, it probably wasnt..
8355018 tn?1410790463 I was diagnosed with this at 32 weeks and at the time was measuring 37 weeks, anyone any experience with this? I'm now 34 weeks and have a scan next week to check fluid levels again.
Avatar f tn This sac protects the developing fetus, and it slowly fills with amniotic fluid and swells as the fetus grows. Initially, the mother's body provides the source of liquid, but over time, much of the fluid is fetal in origin. By the end of the pregnancy, a lot of the amniotic fluid is in fact urine generated by the developing fetus. I dont know if that helps at all sorry , but yes amniotic fluid can vary by your fluid intake .
Avatar n tn m 36wks and OB told me I have too much amniotic fluid. Since there is too much fluid baby keeps moving from head down position to breech so OB wants me to have a csection at 39wks. He said the risk of waiting until water breaks means that the cord could come out before the baby does. I read that this condition is more common in women who carry larger babies but OB keeps telling me my baby is measuring on the smaller to average size.
