1177761 tn?1263894979 Can statins cause/effect fatty liver disease or is fatty liver disease only related to diabetes and obesity problems? I've been diagnosed with fatty liver disease, am diabetic and am obese. I am on a weight reducing diet, am taking statin medications, and cholesterol meds. Can anyone shed light onto other means of improving the fatty liver, decreasing its damage and stopping its effects other thanwhat I am already doing? Advice is very much appreciated.

1293887 tn?1332702847 Lazy and controlling mothers and 2. The rate of obesity. Obesity is a HUGE factor in it. Fat out of shape moms have trouble with labor. I know a lot of women also say scheduling a csection was easier and more convenient so women do it. My dr would never ever ever do a c section unless the mother or baby's life was in jeopardy and my OB also will let women go past 40 weeks because the length of gestation in a first pregnancy is more like 41 weeks.

Avatar f tn Both NASH and NAFLD are becoming more common, possibly because of the greater number of Americans with obesity. In the past 10 years, the rate of obesity has doubled in adults and tripled in children. Obesity also contributes to diabetes and high blood cholesterol, which can further complicate the health of someone with NASH. Diabetes and high blood cholesterol are also becoming more common among Americans.

Avatar m tn Agree and the problem is getting worse and worse. Kids need to be out playing instead of sitting in front of video games developing diabetes for example. New York City just lowered not only its fat allowances in food but also now salt. Which is sad cause what is NYC without a salt pretzel and hot dog from the corner vendor.

Avatar m tn This is one of those presentations in which one needs to possibly watch it a few times to catch more, but one of the I believe that the message is that we are eating more and more sugar; they are putting it in everything. Yes, in bread, it is in my canned tomatoes, etc. So #1 we are facing a higher intake of sugar than EVER before. #2.... and this would be in CAPS, that HFCS.....High Fructose Corn Syrup if radically different than regular sugars.
Avatar m tn I am also a strict vegetarian and have low iron levels and fatigue. My obesity and fat is all on my stomach, a huge protruding bell and I have male breasts, my arms and legs and thighs are thin and normal.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm 32 weeks pregnant today and I went to the Dr this morning and she found sugar in my urine. Said I have to take a 3 hour glucose test now and then we'll go from there. Has anybody dealt with diabetes during pregnancy or in the same boat as me? It has me stressed would like to hear some stories!
Avatar n tn Exercise helps people with diabetes keep their blood sugar in good control and within a normal range. Glucose is used while exercising, which would lower the blood sugar level, not raise it. If you are predisposed to developing type 1 diabetes, no amount of exercise will change this. On the other hand, type 2 diabetes is linked with obesity, and exercise would definitely help with the prevention of that type.
703031 tn?1398963307 m waiting for my appointment with my new endocrinologist in May and when researching the symptoms I keep running across the same "diseases" and a possible medication to treat 2 of them. When I approached my gyno about PCOS, she referrenced me to speak with the endo as that is all part of the endo system. She also mentioned you can not have classic symptoms but still have PCOS and vice versa. Have classic symptoms but normal blood work.
Avatar f tn Your risk of heart disease depends on many things -- age, family history, tobacco use, and other medical conditions (diabetes, hypertension, obesity, high cholesterol, etc). If you have risk factors and are worried, it wouldn't be unreasonable to have a stress test, just to make sure the pains aren't coming from your heart.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you are suffering from Acanthosis nigricans. It is a condition when too much insulin spills over into the skin causing a dark brown (bruise-like/dirt like) patch on the skin. It is common in the areas you mentioned. It is closely tied with obesity and diabetes. I have a family history of diabetes (I don't have it), but I did have a dark brown patch under my arms. I began to exercise and eat healthy and some of the patches have disappeared.
