Avatar n tn This child should be removed from your ignorant care and given to someone who respects human life and rights. If you are in the U.S., I hope you are arrested and jailed for even considering this. She will die, not due to infections, but due to your lack of any ability to care for or about another human being, culture be damned.

Avatar n tn t feel like I am as aware as I should be about my diabetes. Alcohol digests differently than food and can do different things to the way your body absorbs insulin.
Avatar f tn What r the dangers of my fasting blood sugar being 96-100 daily am 34 weeks pregnant. My post meal numbers have been from 90-120 and 120 when I eat French fries and ice cream. The reason for my question is that I dont feel comfortable taking medications if there is no need but the docs tend to push meds. I am a medical assistant and to my knowledge blood sugars over 100 when fasting tend to be problematic but 100 or less is fine.

Avatar n tn Let me try and answer your questions about exercise and diabetes. I am not aware of any connection between the onset of diabetes and over-exertion. Exercise helps people with diabetes keep their blood sugar in good control and within a normal range. Glucose is used while exercising, which would lower the blood sugar level, not raise it. If you are predisposed to developing type 1 diabetes, no amount of exercise will change this.

Avatar m tn what have you reversed? You are controlling it by "via diet and exercise" just go back to your old diet and exercise and your diabetes will be back. that is controlling it "via diet and exercise" there is no reversal you cant go on with life as if your not diabetic. You HAVE to DO something to control it. When cancer is reversed you dont have to do anything it stays away. would you cal cancer "reversed" but only as long as you stay on keamo?

Avatar n tn Hi, it is normal not to want to take medicines. However your fasting level at 240 and random at 300 are very high. Normal levels for people without diabetes are < 95 fasting and < 120 2 hours after eating. Your very high levels are putting your body under a lot of stress. You are dramatically increasing your risk for vascular and heart disease. You also increase your risk of going blind and kidney failure. And these are just some of the worst symptoms.
Avatar n tn I would encourage you to talk to him and his doctor about the EMOTIONAL pain of diabetes and see how you can find help for him on that level. It takes emotional strength to manage a 24*7, no vacation, high stress disease like diabetes. Few medical doctors tune into this important aspect of diabetes management, unless we patients bring it up. Some folks can get motivated by finding another individual who is going thru the same thing.
Avatar f tn Insulin resistance appears when thyroid levels are too low or too high. So, yes, a low TSH can cause higher than normal blood sugar levels.
Avatar m tn I do not eat before exercise at five thirty every day. I am taking metformin glimperide januvia and atenolol for my high blood pressure. Before i exercise blood sugars are 156. After exercise they go to 226. Why? I take my meds about fifteen minutes before my exercise routine. Blood sugars continusously drop as the day goes on. before dinner time they can be 100. after eating they drop to 60 sometimes.
Avatar f tn My reference to the study you presented was only in respect to the association between HCV and diabetes, not between inteferon and diabetes, therefore my use of the word "irony". Hopefully that was clear, but if not, I'll try and summarize what I said again. On one hand it appears that HCV increases the risk of diabetes (see study posted by Mike) but on the other hand it appears that the treatment for HCV (interferon) can also increase the risk.
Avatar f tn qualified, many not) have claimed that fasting can cure many ailments, including diabetes. Long-term fasting in anyone has potential dangers and should not be undertaken without close monitoring by a physician, nurse practitioner, medical dietician (as part of a multi-disciplinary team) or other qualified health care provider.
Avatar f tn I am about 20 pounds overweight and have been trying to lose that to help with the diabetes. I have a healthy diet and try to exercise as much as I can. I also have Crohn's disease (which may have contributed to the onset of diabetes), so heavy exercise is out for me. I am young and rather active, but have a bad family history with diabetes and inflammatory bowel diseases. Sometimes I feel like no matter what I do my genetics always win.
325405 tn?1262290178 I was normal weight a little over 2 years ago before getting pregnant and got gestational diabetes and gained 90 pounds while pregnant. That turned in to type II diabetes after I delivered, and I feel like I'm stuck at too high of a weight right now (just over 200 pounds at 5'5"). I have taken a little off since being on metformin, about 5 pounds in 6 weeks. Is it just going to take a while? Can my doctor recommend a weight loss medication since I have diabetes?
Avatar f tn An easy way to lower blood sugar levels is to stay fit and healthy. Regular exercise not only helps lower blood sugar levels, but also helps fight infections. Staying active and taking regular exercise can also help with blood pressure problems. Exercise also helps control the body's weight and regulate cholesterol levels. This exercise does not need to be a grueling workout. Thirty minutes of exercise a day, even walking, will help to lower blood sugar levels.
Avatar m tn Honey contains fructose, which in a majority of diabetics elevates glucose levels. One must make and maintain lifestyle changes in order to control and manage their diabetes and/or help reverse it. Reversing diabetes depends greatly on your unknown glucose levels and how long you've been that way. It depends also on your current body weight and diet.
Avatar f tn The best approach is low carb diet, with plenty of vegetables and unprocessed foods, exercise, and medications, if required.
