Avatar f tn Prenatal vits don't have DHA in them. So you do need to take the extra vit. It's very beneficial for you & baby. I've taken the extra DHA vit during all of my pregnancies. I also take a calcium vit before bed, the extra calcium is good for U and baby. I don't think my dr said anything to me either but I told him when at my 1st apt he wanted to know everything I was taking, vits & if any other medications.
Avatar f tn They actually tell people with depression who arent even pregnant to take it because it helps your seritonin flow. When you get pregnant, your baby takes DHA from you for its development and if you dont eat a lot of fish, which is where we get it from, you could become depleted of it. Ive noticed my mood lifting.
1225070 tn?1344709174 I just take one pill a day...here is some more info... Expecta® LIPIL® DHA Supplement One easy-to-take softgel per day helps provide the DHA your diet may lack. Take Expecta™ LIPIL® DHA Supplement in Addition to Your Prenatal Vitamin to Help Support Your Baby's Best Start in Life. May support your baby's brain and eye development during pregnancy and breastfeeding. DHA is especially important to your baby during pregnancy and your baby's first year.
519661 tn?1264516208 Your brain is mostly made up of fat and the baby/placenta take up so much of your own nutrients while they are forming. Pregnant women are especially vulnerable to depression and mood changes if they don't have sufficient supplies of EPA/DHA in their systems. I would go to a trusted health food store or get a physician grade supplement of EPA/DHA. It works wonders for me. And baby needs it (especially in the third trimester) to help form the brain!
7062279 tn?1388370086 DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply).
1666434 tn?1325262350 I have always taken mine first thing in the morning with my cran-grape juice after I eat my cereal. If I happen to have a different breakfast - like on Saturdays when we make pancakes - then I usually forget to take my vitamin until I remember later that day. I guess eating the same breakfast helps me remember my vitamin routine. I take nature made prenatals that are sold at most drug stores and grocery stores.
Avatar f tn No you should be only taking the DHA one.
668044 tn?1225913014 I take One A Day Prenatal with DHA/EPA. The box (for $13) comes with one bottle of 30 prenatals and a bottle of 30 DHA/EPA pills. I have been taking them together through my pregnancy. My OB recommended them if the ones she prescribed didn't work out (they gave me a stomach ache so I went with One A Day). I have heard nothing but good things! I recommend them!
Avatar f tn I take a prenatal vitamin with iron and also a DHA only prenatal vitamin. I'm 8w+2d and haven't been to my first obgyn appt yet, have that at 10 weeks. Don't know if this helps, just what I decided to do.
Avatar f tn DHA is a kind of Omega 3 fatty acid (which is usually DHA+EPA) Omega 3 s are considered really beneficial for our brain and general health..and considered really good for fertility.. they're found in fatty fish or you can take them as supplements..
Avatar f tn Hi I'm in the same exact boat as you but I got some from my doctors (my ob) but my friend who just had a baby said that she used over the counter ones and they were chewable ones
1492421 tn?1290300515 folic acid is one of the more important ones to take so your baby dosn't get birth deff.
Avatar f tn I take mine everyday but there are women who don't take them their whole pregnancy and have healthy babies. ..However, I would start taking them asap. It's an easy thing you can do to give your baby all the necessary vitamins. It won't hurt to take them, so there's no real reason not to.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
Avatar m tn I am with baby _ nature made + dha. Never made me sick either.
Avatar f tn Im 29 weeks abd usually ill feel dha baby moving around during dha day but today i havent felt him move like talkin bout should i go to dha hospital or not
Avatar n tn Idk what is in the pills you are talking about but if it doesnt have dha/epa i would suggest going ahead and taking actual prenatal vitamins. Dha is to help with brain development.
1969424 tn?1353020641 im using nature made (i have used without dha ) now using with dha. still ttc for a year a few months now .. i was also using fertility blend for women, with lots of hope, sadly it made my stomach sick, so i had to stop that.
1003723 tn?1306252350 I usually only give Peri about 1 bottle a week mostly on Sundays when I haven't pumped enough for church. Otherwise she's getting breastmilk.
Avatar f tn They make me sick but I do take flintstone gummies, folic acid (I have a deficency so I take an extra separate pill) and I eat eggs on the morning (helps provide dha to help develop baby brains). For the most part though, prenatals are more for the mother to stay healthy and happy. The baby takes all of the mothers vitamins, leaving the mother with fatique, dizziness, and various other symptoms. I feel 10 times better now that I am taking my cocktail of vitamins.
Avatar n tn ve heard as long as you are eating healthy the baby is getting nutrients from your food, just needs the folic acid in tablets to prevent spina bifida and other defects. :) ask you're doc if you want to find out .
Avatar f tn Are the Nature Made Fish oil 1200mg ok for me to take? Im taking a prenatal from Wholefoods called Baby & Me, but it has no Dha in it... so im taking fish oil, with no mercury in it... im wondering if that is Safe to take. Please help?!!
Avatar f tn read your post and was wondering what DHA was? My wife is 8 weeks and she is taking Centrum New Prenatal and the contents has no DHA?
4163555 tn?1408028522 So i hear its for brain development and helps with tube defects for baby....has anyone heard that they make baby smarter?
