467126 tn?1283144858 Pregnancy and tanning is always a touchy subject. Some salon owners don’t allow it, while others think it’s completely fine—in fact, many female salon owners say they tanned throughout their own pregnancies. What I hadn’t heard before was a question regarding the safety of sunless tanning while pregnant.
415867 tn?1323365503 However, if you use a fake tan spray or a spray-tanning booth, then you may inhale some of the DHA or erythrulose. We don’t know how it will affect you or your baby if you inhale the chemicals. To be on the safe side during pregnancy, try to stick with fake tans that you can apply by rubbing, not spraying. If you do want to use a spray, make sure the room is well aired. Also protect your eyes and lips with barrier cream or petroleum jelly.
412873 tn?1329174455 Sunless tanning products may contain anywhere between 1 to 15 percent DHA; the higher the DHA level, the darker the tan produced. Manufacturers of sunless tan products claim that DHA is a simple carbohydrate sugar solution but a toxicologist who investigated the harmful effects of tanning beds disagrees. Even the FDA has not approved the use of DHA in spray tan booths. The FDA previously approved the use of DHA as an ingredient in tanning products but strictly for topical application only.
1025521 tn?1252507728 I made an appointment with a dermatoligist, but it is not for almost 3 weeks and would like to find a solution hopefully before then. I do not know that this is caused by tanning or not, but it has happened twice now and always at the time that I am tanning... Please HELP! Does anyone have any suggestions on this or ever seen anything similar.
Avatar m tn Hello, According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless- or self-tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. Another popular form of sunless tanning is the bronzer. These powders and moisturizers, once applied, create a tan that can easily be removed with soap and water. More like make-up, these products tint or stain your skin only until they are washed off.
Avatar n tn You might as well check the ingredients against the ingredients in your old lotion. If possible, switch back to your old tanning lotion to rule out that as the cause of the allergic reaction.
Avatar n tn I have got them from tanning at salons. I cannot confirm what it is or what you have but I pick up a product at my tanning salon called HALT (sun spot treatment with aloe adn unipertan) made by Norvell. I had them order it for me and it cost me only $14. You apply it 2 times a day and it can take a few weeks to work. It has helped me in the past.
961574 tn?1520648103 however i did find the following Top Rated Prenatal Vitamins After reviewing a large number of prenatal vitamins, I have found a couple I would consider to be by far the best prenatal vitamins. Both of these prenatal vitamins contain a mix of ingredients that not only help with your babies development but also helps the mother with the necessary nutrients and minerals needed to keep her healthy.
Avatar f tn So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
Avatar n tn released ingredients too soon Krill Oil: NOW Neptune Krill Oil (75 mg EPA and 45 mg DHA per softgel, 2 per day) Found only 79.1% of claimed EPA and 76.7% of claimed DHA Also found only 78.4% of claimed total omega-3 fatty acids Spoilage (TOTOX value = 57.
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
Avatar n tn I went to a walk in clinic where the dr diagnosed me with Pityriasis rosea and told me to wait it out and it will go away, maybe some sun or the tanning bed would help. The hearald patch was seen on my stomach and traveled. After 2 more weeks, the spots traveled up my neck and on my face, became itchy and with the tanning, the spots stayed white while i was tan. I was then diagnosed with tinea veriscolor and told to use antifungal cream and use head and shoulders.
566175 tn?1278430472 I am looking for a good prenatal, with DHA and a stool softener. I am interested in hearing what all you girls take and any feedback. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Look at the ingredients and see if it has DHA in it. It is an additive that can cause nausea.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies My Doc prescribed me prenatal vitamins and prenatal vitamins with DHA. I went to the pharmacy for a refill and the pharmacist was very surprised that I am taking both vitamins. She said that they both have the same ingredients, except that the one has DHA in it. It's like I am taking double dose. Do you have any ideas if it's dangerous for my baby? I am in my 19th week. I wrote to my doc, he hasn't answered yet.
Avatar f tn Prenatal are not at all the same. Some are sourced from synthetic ingredients and contain GMO'S and pesticides. What you want is a whole food sourced organic prenatal vitamin. Typically rainbow light prenatal are good for those who want an easy 1 a day whole food based vitamin. It will provide you and your developing baby with the essential nitrients. Personally I use garden of life prenatals. You need to take a DHA supplement as well for your babies brain and nervous system development.
Avatar f tn I buy the nature made brand prenatals from Costco. They're a great deal and have all the ingredients you need.
Avatar f tn Thx.ladies.
5049711 tn?1364572195 Depends where you go, definitely ask a doctor but I know that the one by me uses a product that's purely a DHA protein so I'm assuming its not bad but I'm gonna ask my doc too cuz I'm a pasty mofo, but you can go in a tanning bed, if you go 3 times a week for no longer then 8 min your fine ( depending on the bed), if stick with the lower beds that produce more UVB rays ( the burning rays) because they produce more vitamin d which is essential for the baby, the only danger factor
Avatar n tn Thank you ladies I'll talk to my dr once I go to my first appointment next week. The prenatal vitamins I'm taking have I think 200mg of Dha. I read online that Dha can make you constipated and nauseous.
Avatar f tn Is there much difference between over the counter prenatals and prescription ones? I got a prescription from my primary Dr when I found out I was pregnant but they don't contain dha. The prenatals sold at Costco have dha. Should I take those instead?
Avatar f tn Just use a tanning lotion out of a bottle. Spray tans are dangerous because Drs don't know what inhaling the tanning solution will do to baby and tanning beds are extremely dangerous in pregnancy.
558632 tn?1303471125 I take flaxseed oil for my eyes instead of fish oil.
Avatar n tn I had it before. Somebody told me to go to the tanning bed a few times and it will go away. I am so against tanning beds now because I had to have 2 skin biopsies (both benign) which put a scare in me. I used to worship the sun and went to the tanning bed for special occasions. I will say though it did work and got rid of the rash.
12584065 tn?1436320514 So i just got a bottle of DHA 600 from gnc tonight. It also is combined with 250 mg of EPA(omega 3). Is that too much? How much do u ladies take???
