1225070 tn?1344709174 DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils. You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins. I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com. Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!
7062279 tn?1388370086 DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply).
Avatar n tn If it were me, I would probably avoid the Salmon oil and use a different kind of fish oil. Carlson had a great one and I can tolerate it well, I have all kinds of allergies, but, this is good for me to take.
Avatar f tn I have tried different brands of fish oil on different occassions as well as my husband. I wished I could take it for the health benefits; but, in our case, it causes digestive upset such as bloating and gas. So, I've replaced fish oil with flax seed oil and we do not experience the gas and bloating we had with fish oil. In my case, I feel much better on flax seed oil, emotionally as well as physically.
Avatar n tn Eating the right foods literally feeds your joints and keeps them strong and flexible. Foods like fish and walnuts or almonds contain essential fatty acids that lubricate. Unless you eat fatty fish like salmon or sardines on most days, you're not getting enough omega-3 fats-or their anti-inflammatory benefits. You want to get two specific omega-3s in particular: EPA and DHA. The best source for both is fish oil. Aim for 1,000-3,000 mg total DHA and EPA.
Avatar f tn I had to stop while pregnant bc I was getting so nauseous I could barely handle my prenatals let alone adding in my fish oil and vit D. If they are making you sick maybe up your fish consumption. I never took fish oil with any of my three pregnancies but I eat wild salmon at least once a week and either tilapia or cod once a week. May times I eat salmon more than once but buying wild fish gets expensive so we dont as much as we would like.
Avatar f tn and a little upset stomach. Is this possible from fish oil??? I take the fish oil with food .. and the bowel reaction is later/delayed.. but this is not normal for me. I am taking about 1 1/2 tsp daily. I am going to stop for a few days, and cut back to 1 tsp daily and see if it helps. Anyone else have this reaction... or am I a wierdo.. ( dumb question.. I am a wierdo).?? Thanks again for any input.
Avatar m tn DHA and EPA fatty acids are obtained from oily fish. ALA is from walnuts, soybeans, flax, Olive oil etc. The only source I know of which can supply EPA/DHA rather than fish, is egg yolks. 2 a day is supposed to be adequate.
Avatar f tn U can do that. Most prenatal vitamins that also have dha r two separate pills anyway. I take regular omega 3 fish oil pills from vitamin shop in conjunction with my prenatals from cvs. U may want to look into dha specifically for pregnancy, but they're also way more expensive. Also check to make sure the fish oil comes from small fish like sardines or anchovy and that it doesn't contain soy. It's a lot to look into, but I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Interestingly, the type of fish and how it is prepared seem to make all the difference. For details, including what fish oil supplements can or cannot do, see the updated Fish Oil & Marine Oil (Omega-3) Supplements http://www.bmj.com/content/345/bmj.
984847 tn?1253732146 You should really begin taking the 81 bb aspirin now BEFORE you get pregnant, cuz "if" thats an issue, then it will help w/implantation. I would follow your Dr's order & don't worry.
Avatar m tn A possible explanation for moderate improvements in depression among those who respond to fish oil, is that fish oil increases white matter (myelinated fibers that connect brain cells) in areas of the brain which can be compromised in depression. A small study of 16 acutely depressed adults with major depression found that among the 5 whose depression improved over the 6-week period of taking 4 grams of fish oil daily (OmegaLife-3, Unicity International, Inc.

Avatar f tn FISH OIL has both DHA plus EPA. The lattest is not good for pregnancy but the DHA is good, so don't take fish oil as they sell it, get DHA alone. All pharmacies have it.
Avatar f tn I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been taking the generic prenatal vitamins plus over the counter Omega 3 fatty acid supplements that contain fish oil concentrate from Kroger since I don't eat seafood. They have 240mg of DHA and 360mg of EPA in 2 capsules. My doctor told me to take them, but online I've been finding that the fish oil and other things in the over the counter supplements may be bad during pregnancy.
Avatar m tn no it is not harmful it is a must, but the quality and concentration of epa and dha must be very high at 2-3g daily (fish oil quantity is not useful check epa/dha), most products are scam with very low dha/epa so useless.
Avatar f tn i don't remember my research on this fully, but i do recall that plant derived ALA's are not biologically equivalent to marine derived DHA. i take fish oil supplementation for DHA. the only concern there is impurities like mercury present in the fish oil - there are brands that make DHA capsules that have been purified for this purpose. some brands will even go as far to source their oils from the purest fish and highest standards, so that purification isn't even necessary.
Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for this service! Is it more beneficial to take an "omega 3 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement" or an "omega 3, 6 &9 EPA & DHA fish oil supplement"? I'm a bit confused as to which would be of the optimum benefit to purchase. Thanks for your time and expertise!
Avatar f tn My prenatals came with a fish oil supplement for the dha.
Avatar f tn I take fish oil for the DHA because my prenatals don't have it and I don't eat fish.
