Avatar n tn I recently worked with an epoxy that I had thought was an MSDS Health rating 2, which means: "Intense or continued exposure could cause temporary incapacitation or possible residual injury unless prompt medical attention is given." The warnings on the package suggest to avoid eye/skin contact, avoid breathing vapors and to work in "adequate ventilation" (note that no one ever explains what this means).
Avatar n tn Serious lansoprazole side effects You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience any one or a combination of the serious lansoprazole side effects. Serious lansoprazole side effects include skin irritation or rash, blistering skin, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat or eyes. Other serious lansoprazole side effects include breathing problems, difficulty swallowing and hoarseness.
Avatar f tn Hello I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure that yes these drugs are causing you extra anxiety... Zoloft can cause an increase of anxiety in the first few weeks, kind of a restless feeling..but I'd say its probably the Dextroamfetamine that you are feeling the most, it is basically speeding you up, hence the fast heart rate, and high temperature.. What have you been prescribed the Dextro for? I hope you feel better soon, but definitely keep an eye on things!!
Avatar n tn there are a lot of other tests to do besides the dex test! After the dex you have to wait to do other tests as the dex has to get out of your body but 24 hour urine tests and other pituitary tests would have been a logical step... They go in via a nostril. I have had 12 surgeries - that one was among the easiest! The disease is not easy though...
Avatar f tn However, if you take into consideration how ACTH and dex work together and if the doctor thought about that... dex suppresses ACTH down (I use it to keep my near 4000 down to 400) and that in turn would make the cortisol receptors in the adrenals not be activated. If the tumor was in the adrenal, then the level would be high (it would not need the ACTH to give off cortisol), and to be low just means the dex is working like it should.

5143317 tn?1383747820 I'm not sure where to ask this, but I'm awaiting the results of an overnight Dex test. The doctor did not tell me and I didn't think to ask, but the test was done not fasting. Will this affect the results?
1672951 tn?1303944089 Please go back to the doctor and ask for a solu-cortef act-o-vial. You do not want a dex shot as the solu-cortef acts faster and dex takes longer and in an emergency, you want fast. I think as well the dex shots were just recalled. You may have to ask around as not many pharmacies carry injectibles any more but call around and you should be able to find it. My insurance did not cover the emergency shot but last time it only cost $17 so I paid out of pocket.
Avatar f tn ve had to increase to combat side effect of adrenal drug dex; Valium (tranquilizer) for panic disorder, also increased because of dex; Tyl-Codeine #4 60mg (for back pain), also increased; and Lyrica (lower back). I also have severe pain from a lumbar joint syndrome, where the butterfly joint of the back is fracturing and arthritic and pushing on a nerve there, but only relief is to lay down...
Avatar f tn The short (take the 1mg dex at 11pm, draw 8am the next morning)with blood or the urine do a urine collection off dex, then take 1mg dex every 6 hours (what a pain!!!) for day two, then day three, collect another day (keep both jugs very cold both during and after collection!). So you have to be careful on the timing of the start of the test and take the meds on time, as well as the timing of the start and stop of the urine testing etc. It will be a complex three days.
Avatar f tn With incorrect directions - your draw should have been at 8am - what time did you take the dex? He is probably using this as a test of exclusion, but experts use this as a test of location of the source of cortisol. One test does not rule Cushing's in or out. I failed this dex test (all of them actually) but still had it. Many of my friends did as well. Find another doctor. Even the new protocol says test with three different things. He did not.
905502 tn?1245176370 You were feeling better because the steroids made you feel better and now, the steroid withdrawal makes you feel rotten. It is normal however to make you feel rotten - what a great test, huh? It is also a very unrealiable test. I had Cushing's disease and I suppressed on every level on dex test and dex-crh tests yet I still had Cushing's. So did a lot of people I know. I hope your doctor does not use this as a test of exclusion.
Avatar f tn what did your Dr say???? Were you supose to take the dexamethazone???
Avatar m tn Hi I am not a doctor but I would think that there would be an MSDS sheet that would explain the dangers. You already know that everything you we eat breathe and put on the body has to be processed by the liver. I will try to find something. and come back.
Avatar f tn Anyway, a month later, (yesterday) I was prescribed lansoprazole but I have done some research and it says lansoprazole can cause kidney failure. Should I take these tablets or wait till Friday and get a second opinion from the hospital on my assessment?
596605 tn?1369946627 0.25 dex is equal to 6.67 HC. But dex can last (half life) 36-54 hours - thus when you take another dose, the first dose is not out of your body. Until the long lasting cortef comes out - and they are working on formulas that mimic a normal diurnal rhythm, the longer lasting steroids are kinda iffy as they work for some - but they do have hidden side effects like eating bone and weakening muscle etc. So keep an eye out for that.
Avatar f tn I am 28 years old and have been experiencing anovulation. After extensive testing I was diagnosed with 21-hydroxylase deficiency. I have chronically high progesterone (ranging from 3-40). I was started on dexamethasone and have had success with reducing progesterone. The problem is now I am in adrenal suppression with morning cortisol >.1. I have been lowering my dose of dex but have not seen much improvement in improvement in cortisol levels. Has anyone had similar problems?
Avatar f tn I'm confused........I've been looking at my labs and they did a corticotropin (P) and my results was 16 range is (10-60 a.m. drpg/ml) This test was done at 3:43 PM. They did not give me any dex it was just a regular draw at 3:43 in the afternoon. It looks like I've never had the ACTH test done is this important?
Avatar m tn I had 3 operations in the first 5 years without success (it just came back) but a breakthrough came 4 years ago when my ENT specialist put me on lansoprazole, a PPI, believing that it was probably due to acid reflux (although I had no symptoms). The granuloma disappeared over the next 6 months. However, it sometimes comes back, or at least the symptoms do, every few months, but go again after 2 or 3 weeks. But over the last week or so symptoms have come back with a vengeance.
