Avatar f tn Yes. I had the septoplasty in 2005. The deviated septum came back on the same side. I am scheduled for a revision in September 2008. There was no accident that caused it. It just noticed in my 20s. Still trying to get even air flow.

Avatar f tn For, example, if you have a deviated septum, can only breathe out of 50% of nose, or have symptoms of rhinosinusitus. Check with your insurance company to see their policy, then look into the database of doctors covered by your insurance, look up best ones, go to them showing you need a nosejob, and they will contact your insurance company, and hopefully they will cover at least part of it. Good luck!

Avatar f tn I had rhinoplasty surgery two years back by Dr. Philip Solomon at Toronto. I had a good experience with the surgeon and I am happy with the results. I had to wear the nose splint for about a week following the surgery, and I started going to work after two weeks. By the time the swelling had gone down almost completely. I say almost because there will still be some swelling but it won’t be noticed easily.
Avatar n tn Over the years I have broken my nose several times from a variety of activities ranging from accidents, street football and martial arts. Naturally this has created issues such as a deviated septum and so forth. I knew the septum was deviated and finally after fracturing it again in december, I started to have the left side of my nose collapse with heavy inhalations. Looking up my nose you could see that the left side was very narrow to begin with while the right side was wide open.

Avatar f tn Hi there - I had revision rhinoplasty on may 4th and it seems like my problems before have worsened. Due to my first rhinoplasty, my septum became deviated to the right and I had a large bump on the left side of my tip making my nose look like an 's'. I thought I was clear that I wanted my nose straightened and the bump reduced - I did not want to wake up with a completely different nose - but now my nose is shorter, thinner and it makes the problem even more noticeable.

Avatar f tn I have had previous surgery, approximately 6 years ago, for infections caused by allergic rhinitis and the overuse of Otrivin Nasal Spray. I also have a deviated septum, but chose not to have this fixed at the same time, as it was too costly.
Avatar f tn a lot of websites explaining septoplasty that i have visited say that there is usually no exteranl swelling or brusing.. i had quite a deviated septum before the op where one nosrtil was completely outturned & blocked off by both septum bone and cartilidge.. i have not received any rhinoplasty.. is this normal & can i assume that my natural smile will return in the upcoming weeks?? can anyone else report there experiences please??
Avatar f tn One of my friends had a similar problem with her nose and she just undergone a Rhinoplasty. It did not just gave her a new nose, instead it could clear her breathing problem also. Dr. Robert Backstein from Ontario was her surgeon. Anyway, I recommend you to go for a good surgeon. Only a right surgeon can do it right for you. Take care.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
Avatar m tn Hi, I just had surgery thursday evening to fix my deviated septum, remove cysts in my sinus cavity, treat my sinus infection, and some rhinoplasty to also increase breathing efficiency. After the surgery, I noticed something tickling the back of my throat and feeling foreign/odd. After inspecting it at home with a flashlight, I can tell that some phlegm or clearish looking substance has attached to my tonsil and is aggravating my throat.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
