Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum with bone spur

deviated-septum

in the AM i will have a little solid white discharge when i blow my nose but its nothing major. i went to an ENT. had a ct scan done of my sinuses. DR said i had a deviated septum with a bone spur. i am scheduled for all kinds of allergy testing and a VNG ( for possible ear issues ) but after talking w/insurance and billing, i can not afford all the testing. DR said the deviated septum and bone spur could be causing me the issues but wanted to do all this other testing first.
My ENT wants to do surgery because I have had 11 sinus infections this year and my CT scan shows chronic sinusitis. I have a bad deviated septum and nasal bone spur He also wants to use a ballon and enlarge my sinus passages. This all sounds really painful to me. Post op he wants to sent me home with perocet. But I take three perocet everyday for 6 bulging disk and and severe disk disease in my mid and lower back.
I am a male in his late 40's with a history of Tourette's Syndrome (mostly head and neck tics - sometimes pretty severe) and cervical osteoarthritis affecting C-4 and C-5 with a bone spur. At various times (and depending on posture or activity) I can hear/feel popping, cracking, crunching and grinding noises/sensations in my neck. My symptoms vary in type and severity depending on many factors such as posture, time of day, engaging in different activities, etc.
I get like this from time to time. After many scans found out I do have a slight bone spur and deviated nasal septum-means its crooked- but, alas it does not STAY blocked up because I alternate out of each side blowing junk out of it and my ENT actually said if it were 100% blocked I'd never breath out of the side thats blocked not blow a bunch of stuff out and then (temporarily) feel better. Hope this helps!
My chronic runny nose began in 2004, about 2 years after surgery for a deviated septum. I think that is what triggered my vasomotor rhinitis, but since it was 2 years after the surgery, I cannot be sure on that. At least I know it is not Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) that sometimes leaks into the sinuses after surgery. I am taking mostly anticholinergic drugs, such as Bentyl and Atrovent, to help it be manageable (dry) when I have to work.
Thanks for the reply, the ENT Doc. tells me I have level 3 allergies with a deviated septum and a nasal bone spur - he thinks the allergies are causing the dizziness and that the inflammation from the allergies around the bone spur was causing the headaches. He's giving me allergies drops and the headaches are gone - the dizziness has improved. The tests I would like them to do is heavy metals and Lyme. Although it's reassuring to hear that the disc bulge can be the source of the leg issues.

Hello, I'm a 36 yr. old male who began having balance problems (walking but feeling like I might fall down) last August 2006 - went to my primary care Dr. he told me I had fluid in my ear and gave me some meds, that went away and then I began to have headaches daily for 3 months and then they went away.
I have a history of IBS, GERD, Gastritis, Lactose Intolerance, Chronic Sinusitis, Allergic Rhinitis, Deviated Septum, Cervical Arthritis w/ bone spur, Tourettes w/ head jerks, OCD, GAD, Panic Attacks and a few others I can't think of right now. I'm middle-aged, don't smoke or drink and don't take a lot of meds. Can anyone relate?. Thanks very, very much for your input!.
These episodes can last a few days or a few weeks with various degrees of intensity. I have a history of Allergic Rhinitis, Chronic Sinusitis, a deviated septum, GAD, OCD, Hypochindria, Tourettes Syndrome, GERD, IBS, Cervical Arthritis and Panic Disorder. My Tourettes causes me to jerk my head back and forth and side-to-side many times each day and as you can imagine, this is not good when you have cervical arthritis and a bone spur.
My ent doc says I have polyps, deviated septum and a bone spur but surgery is questionable. I wish I could give you some advice but nothing seems to help me very much. I am going to see a different ent soon.
This was primarily due to a badly deviated septum and bone spur that had to be surgically corrected. The infections are pretty much under control now, but I still have one big problem. At night, especially when I sleep, I get extremely congested, and I have to breathe out my mouth. Now I have been getting dry mouth (I don't think it's an infection, because I don't see any evidence of that). I also have a very bad dust mite allergy.
I've had 2 sinus CT scans which revealed a deviated septum with a nasal bone spur. In March I had a brain MRI which came back "clean"/"unremarkable". I have also been to a chiropractor would told be I have subluxation in my neck and lower back - have been seeing him for 5 months and still have symptoms. Went to the Neurologist and he examined me and said I was fine.

Anyway, I've had two CT Scans--one of my sinuses that found evidence of past sinus infection, a nasal bone spur, and a deviated septum. I visited an ENT and he didn't feel concerned that what was found was causing my symptoms. The second one was an orbital one to see if there was anything going on around my eyes (as my eyes checked out fine). My doctor said that the radiologist said there is evidence of sinus disease.
GAD, Hypochondria, Panic Disorder, OCD, etc) as well as Allergic Rhinitis, Chronic Sinusitis and a Deviated Septum. I also have cervical arthritis with a bone spur at C-5/C-6 and I also have bad, worn-down teeth (I'm always grinding them). For many years now (probably 7-8) I've had these on-again/off-again bouts where whenever I put food (or anything else) in my mouth, I produce extra saliva (no drooling though or anything like that).
ENT also tested me for sleep apnea - said I had a mild case and gave me a mouth piece to wear at night. I've had 2 sinus CT scans which revealed a deviated septum with a nasal bone spur. It got better this summer (2007) and into the fall (2007) – never really going away but much better – would this rule out ALS?

GAD, GERD, IBS, Tourettes w/ head jerks, Chronic Sinusitis, Allergic Rhinitis, Deviated Septum (left side), Gastritis, Panic Disorder, Cervial Arthritis (w/bone spur), OCD, Hypochondria, Lactose Intolerance, bouts of insomnia (early awakening), etc. Former alcoholic/smoker (stopped drinking/smoking a long time ago). Took several Levaquin/Cipro many times for prostate issues. Had a few bouts of depression in my life.
Here is what I've been diagnosed with over the years... 1) Cervical arthritis at C-4/C-5 level with bone spur (ostreophyte).
Hi everyone I'm a 48 year old male with a history of anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, Tourettes, hypochondria, various phobias, etc. I also have acute sinusitis, a deviated septum (left side), allergic rhinitis and cervical arthitis (an "osteophyte"/bone spur at C-4/5). Anyway, when I have bouts of anxiety, they either come "out of the blue" for no apparent reason -or- there is some underlying source(s) of stress in my life that I believe triggers it.

I am a middle-aged male with a history of GAD, OCD, Panic Disorder, Tourette's Syndrome, Depression, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (as a child), Bi-Polar Disorder (a recent diagnosis), severe stress-intolerance, Cervical Arthritis at C4/C5 (w/bone spur), Chronic Sinusitis, Allergic Rhinitis, Deviated Septum, IBS, Diverticulosis, GERD and Gastritis.

Went to the doc and she ordered CT of the sinuses which came back that I had a deviated septum with a bone spur. She referred me to an ENT, and he said I didn't have an ENT problem. Then in January I became very ill with bronchial pneumonia. I was ill for around 8 to 10 weeks. At the end of the illness, I began to have vision problems. I was photophobic, my vision became hazy on occasion (this would come and go).
