1452978 tn?1285110262 Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!
Avatar m tn All of these problems you described could be related to your deviated septum. I have had many of the problems that you have experienced although not all of them. I am now a senior in college. I had a septoplasty in the summer to repair my badly deviated septum. I now wake up alert and full of energy for the first time in my life and school is a breeze. I had so many problems that I thought for sure it could not be related to my sinuses. ALL of them were.
Avatar f tn There is absolutely no evidence that a deviated septum leads to oxygenation problems and problems with the heart and lungs. The only reasons to fix your deviated septum would be 1) you are finding it difficult to breathe through your nose 2) you have sleep apnea and fixing your septum may help with CPAP compliance 3) you are having severe, difficult to treat nosebleeds 4) you are looking for cosmetic rhinoplasty (of which a septoplasty may be a part).
Avatar m tn I have been having chronic problems with post nasal drip and pressure on the bridge of my nose. It's not terribly bothersome, rather annoying. Let me explain what I mean by post nasal drip. I feel like there is constantly mucus stuck in the back of my nose. It isn't really dripping down my throat, rather just sitting in the back of my nose. It feels thick and I often have to snort in order to get it out. It is not discolored, just clear/milky white.
Avatar f tn I'm a 40 year and have a deviated septum since the age of 13 years of age. Over the years I just dought with it and giving it much thought. But for the last 5 year I've had noticed symptoms of headache, anxiety, virtigo, stomach problems such as gas, belching and as well as tightening of my throat when eating.got a CT scan and was told theirs inflammations and development A frontal ethmoid ,sphenoid & maxillary sinuses.
2058275 tn?1330706149 Assuming you are referring to a deviated NASAL septum (FYI there is a region of the heart called the septum), the answer is POSSIBLY. A deviated nasal septum, when severe, could impair normal respiratory pattern. In some cases this has led to loud snoring and even obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA could cause inadequate oxygenation during sleep, putting extra stress on the heart, which has been linked to the development and worsening of atrial fibrillation (AF).
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar m tn Hi, its unlikely that a deviated septum can cause dizziness. Deviated septum can cause problems with breathing, as it causes nasal blockage. Your symptoms of dizziness and lightheadedness, if are relieved by eating something, indicate that you might be having episodes of hypoglycemia. Inadequate sleep can also cause tiredness, fatigue and dizziness. Other causes for these symptoms are inner ear infections; brain disorders heart problems, fever, stress, low blood pressure and anxiety.
Avatar n tn I would not recommend snorting any more coke tho
Avatar m tn However, I had to go back in for a second surgery to correct the deviated septum, which created problems with the healing process after the first surgery. I saw later on yet another specialist, who is the guru of sinus specialists and he uses fibre optic technology for his endoscope equipment. This apparently makes a huge difference as to how well the surgeon can see inside the sinuses. He touched up some spots inside that were still giving me problems.
Avatar f tn Might want to get an opinion from a ear, nose and throat doctor to see if breaking your nose has damaged your nose. It might have changed the deviated septum to a point that something should be done to fix it. Anything that is very painful and doesn't improve greatly within 24 hours should be seen by a doctor.
Avatar m tn I saw an ENT recently who told me that I have a slightly deviated septum but I doubt that could be causing all of these problems. I drink plenty of water, I've tried decongestants, the ENT I saw prescribed an anti-inflammatory nasal spray (barely helped), I've tried pain killers which don't do much if anything, I've tried cold compresses, hot compresses. Nothing seem to works and this is making my day to day life a struggle. I'm looking for any suggestions, thanks.
Avatar m tn it revealed several polyps through out my sinuses, pus in my left cheek sinus, and airpocket in another sinus, deviated septum and my turbinates are 4x larger then they should be .im on xyzyal which is like zyrtec, veramyst, singular and i take claritin every day...
Avatar m tn I had a deviated septum and 3 surgeries to fix but still have problems and wonder if if the surgeries that cause this but the doctors don't know a thing. It is frustrating. I wish you the best. I choke, throw up etc.
Avatar n tn I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
538090 tn?1213808112 I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told by my ENT specialist that i need a surgery ( September 8th, 2008) along with turbinate reduction. I was doing alright until I had a bout of flu four weeks ago and this made my life miserable. Then came along bronchitis which made my breathing through the mouth impossible. I am still having a little wheezing on my left chest and took an x-ray yesterday. I will have an answer within two days to see what the actual diagnosis will be.

IK went for a hearing test...perfect hearing but a 'typanogram" test showed I have Euchstation tube dysfunction on right...they told me to live with it and that I should not have tubes put in as an adult...told me to have septum correction surgery instead...
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
