Avatar n tn Maybe you have atrophic rhinitis from the surgeries or vasomotor rhinitis from these surgeries, could have disrupted the nerve endings inside your nose. What was the cosmetic reason for- if I may ask? Ever try going to Mayo Clinic in Rochchester Minnesota? or John Hopkins clinic ? Take care.
538090 tn?1213808112 I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told by my ENT specialist that i need a surgery ( September 8th, 2008) along with turbinate reduction. I was doing alright until I had a bout of flu four weeks ago and this made my life miserable. Then came along bronchitis which made my breathing through the mouth impossible. I am still having a little wheezing on my left chest and took an x-ray yesterday. I will have an answer within two days to see what the actual diagnosis will be.
Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
Avatar n tn Sorry, if Vasomotor rhinitis is from imbalance of sympathetic or parasympathetic of nasal mucosa - then how could vasomotor rhinitis be from inflammation? Couple doctors said vasomotor rhinitis is from chronic inflammation, a couple other doctors said from imbalance of sympathetic or parasympathetic nervous system nasal vessel mucosa. It is very confusing. If from imbalance then why would steroid nasal sprays suppose to help? Which they don't for me but I guess they do for some people.
402205 tn?1230481005 I had a CT and it showed a lot of nasal congestion but very little sinus. It also showed a slightly deviated septum and nasal polyps on the middle turbinate. What do you suggest I do?
Avatar m tn However, the problem persists in varying degrees. I have a deviated septum and persistent rhinitis. Any advice would be welcome.
1387175 tn?1326400997 I went through that with my father and two trips to the ER. It was horrible. He did have a deviated septum and was taking aspirin. The last visit, the ER doc actually had to do a cauterization. He also used to use a nasal spray daily and that may have aggravated the condition Has your mother seen an ENT doctor? If not, I suggest she do so.
626646 tn?1242907042 Hello, Various causes for chronic post nasal drip are allergies, viral infections, deviated nasal septum, chronic sinusitis, adenoid enlargement and diseases like sarcoidosis and GERD. Pls check out with an ENT specialist if you are having chronic rhinitis or sinusitis or deviated nasal eptum. If you have chronic sinusitis then it can lead to continuous production of mucus and less drainage leading to post nasal drip.Transillumination test and X-Ray or CT sinuses can help in diagnosing it.
Avatar n tn Do you have trouble breathing through your nose on either side? Ask your Ent about vasomotor rhinitis, the blood vessels inside swell up and can cause pain , pressure. One of my ENt doctors tells me to do nasal irrigation twice a day for ever, he said that it may not seem like the rinses are helping but they really are - could have fooled me- I have been doing them for 6 yrs. and it has not done a thing. Either has oral or nasal steroids. Do you have constant post nasal drainage?
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the important causes needed to be ruled out are Deviated nasal septum (DNS) and allergic rhinitis. These conditions can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. Recurrent infection is sign of low immunity. You need to increase immunity by proper nutritious food, regular exercise, mental fitness etc.
Avatar m tn The first was to remove polyps and a deviated septum, the second was revision surgery to remove scar tissue and to drill windows in for drainage, the third was to remove a frontal sinus infection, and the fourth was to reduce the turbinate on the right side. I have continually recurring bouts of thickened mucous and inflammation that ends up in repeated infections. I also had repeated bronchitis and have now been diagnosed with adult onset asthma.
Avatar n tn Nose bleeding can also be seen due to hereditary, dry nose, lower vit k levels, some foreign body, superficial veins, rhinitis secondary to deviated septum (seems to be relevant) etc. Sometime veins are superficial and any minor harm to nose causes bleeding. When nose start bleeding you need to sit rather than sleep, as sleeping causes increase in pressure inside head and cause more bleeding also pinch the lower smooth area of nose to prevent more blood loss. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Hello, My question is I saw a Doc in dec 06 he said I allergies went on Zyrtec D came back a year later he said I still seemed bad sent me to a ENT which in return said I had a Deviated septum and allergies that I could get the septum fixed if I wanted to. Still not felling better I went to see one of the Top allergy docs here in Chicago he said I have Neirogenic Rhinitis Syndrome. I kinda know what it is but I cant find anything else on it. Were can I look? I have googled it to no end.
Avatar m tn it revealed several polyps through out my sinuses, pus in my left cheek sinus, and airpocket in another sinus, deviated septum and my turbinates are 4x larger then they should be .im on xyzyal which is like zyrtec, veramyst, singular and i take claritin every day...
Avatar m tn My husband was diagnosed with Vasomotor Rhinitis about 3 years ago. He is a 36 year old male in great shape and good health BESIDES VR (Vasomotor Rhinitis). He has suffered his whole life with what he considered an allergy until he was dx with VR by a very reputable ENT in Madison WI. He grew up in Western Mass, has lived in Chicago, Virginia, Oregon (Portland) and now Madison, WI. All places he has lived offer NO relief.
Avatar f tn Might want to get an opinion from a ear, nose and throat doctor to see if breaking your nose has damaged your nose. It might have changed the deviated septum to a point that something should be done to fix it. Anything that is very painful and doesn't improve greatly within 24 hours should be seen by a doctor.

Avatar n tn hi - I have nonallergic (Vasomotor Rhinitis) I know what you mean about this ruining your life. I have had this for 6 yrs. now. Constant 24/7 post nasal drainage, blocked nasal passages that clog up on one side then the other side. I have tried every nasal steroid spray that was ever invented I think and even oral steroids. Nothing helps. I irrigate my nasal passages twice a day with the NeilMed nasal bottle and the pre-mixed solution.
Avatar f tn Hi There! I'm wondering if anybody else here suffering from sinus congestion. Mine is going back for years I've seen several ENTs, one was convinced that my blocked nose was due to dust mite allergy. So he performed a surgery, a middle turbinate reduction, it was in 2010. and prescribed the usual stuff, costeroid spray. The surgery didn't make the slightest improvement, nor the spray didn't help.
Avatar f tn I felt an inflamation of my throat , i went to the pharmacy and they prescribe to me antibiotics (Cefadroxil / Biodroxil), i am still in the course , but i am astonished now that my tongue is black , Does these antibiotics affect and change the tongue color to Black ? . Before about two weeks my tongue was white and Dr. said to me that was fungels, but now it is black !
Avatar n tn Sinusitis has symptoms like feeling pressure on forehead, sinus drainage, fatigue, poor sense to smell and taste, bad breath, sore throat, ear pain etc. You need to undergo detailed evaluation and rule out deviated nasal septum, blocked sinus, presence of foreign body etc. You should take rest; drink plenty of water, salt water gargle. Antibiotics, antihistamines, cough syrup will help you but to be taken against prescription.

345124 tn?1234483278 you can also have what is called as mixed rhinitis. There is no cure for vasomotor rhinitis. Mayo ent doctor told me to use nasal rinses twice a day for the rest of my life, use musinex tablets to keep drainage thin , use a humidifer. Doctor said the rinses may seem like they are not doing any good but they really are he said. Could have fooled me.
Avatar m tn I am frequently stuffy myself, and they said it was non-allergic vasomotor rhinitis. Also, I am pretty sure there are surgeries available for nasal bones. After all, if the nasal septum (divider between nostrils) can be surgically repaired, why not other bones? I would use tiger balm to clear a stuffy nose. Decongestants can give you rapid heartbeat and are as addictive as any other drugs, so try to only use those when you absolutely cannot breathe without them and tiger balm fails.
Avatar m tn Hello today the doctor told me I had Vasomotor Rhinitis and GERD. A few websites say they go hand in hand is this true?
