Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar n tn I have noticed that my nose is slightly crooked and this was confirmed when an ENT told me that I have a deviated septum on the right side, but he just told me to use an antihistamine nasal spray and an allergy pill: Clarasil D. These medicines have had little effect. I also hear noises in my ears when I swallow. I hear a click/snap kind of noise, sometimes only in one ear and sometimes in both, when I swallow. I also hear this noise when I yawn.
538090 tn?1213808112 My question to you is, is it common for both nostrils to get congested at the same time because of deviated septum or my flu and bronchitis plays a role in it? I haven't been sleeping for over three weeks because of that and is developing anxiety and is afraid to go to bed. Since my surgery date is in September, I would like you to help me to regain my sanity and restore some sleep.
Avatar m tn I had a bad cold and after two weeks the cold began to go away but the left nostril now has a deviated septum. The nostrils are dry and i get a pain in the nose that I can feel in my front teeth. It feels like a small tooth ache. Went to the dentist and endontist and it is not tooth related.
1387175 tn?1326400997 I went through that with my father and two trips to the ER. It was horrible. He did have a deviated septum and was taking aspirin. The last visit, the ER doc actually had to do a cauterization. He also used to use a nasal spray daily and that may have aggravated the condition Has your mother seen an ENT doctor? If not, I suggest she do so.
Avatar n tn My husband has that problem for over fifty years and finally had minor surgery for a deviated septum and it cured it permanently. It has made the Vaseline, Afrin, saline, and all the complaining and nosebleeds go away for good. I don't know if you might have this problem, but you could have ut checked for very easily.
Avatar m tn All my life (or as far back as I remember) I've been anomsmic - I can't smell. An ENT sent me for a MRI which revealed that I have a deviated septum (although it's not visible when you look at my face). The ENT's response was that "it could" be this deviated septum that is causing the anosmia. "Could..." He wouldn't commit to a definite answer. But he was willing to perform surgery anyway!
Avatar f tn I had existing obstructed breathing issues prior due to enlarged turbinates and a supposed deviated septum, in which I had a surgery done 4 years back. Fast forward now I have had a multitude of symptoms due to the anxiety but now im thinking my obstructed breathing is possibly due to a nasal problem and not so much having to do with anxiety.
Avatar m tn I have a deviated septum and constant stuffiness due to allergies and the nasal strips really help. It jsut opens up the nostrils and allows you to breathe. What exactly did he give you?
Avatar m tn so iv been feeling dizzy with head pressure and headaches in the back or my head with fatigue due to a dizzy spell i had in class this is been going on for 3 months constantly i had a mri bloodwork saw 2 ents and a eye doctor did a balance test and everything came back normal the doctors keep telling me its anxiety but yeah what im freaking out about right now some times and this is rare happens maybe 2 or 3 times a year when i bend down my nose leaks clear watery mucus didnt really think much
Avatar m tn I saw my ENT doctor this morning and she showed the result of CT scan. Indeed I have Deviated Septum and she suggests me to be operated. This Deviated Septum explains excessive mucus in my throat. However, I am still wandering if it causes some bloody mucus in my throat in the morning. For that I worry about my lungs.
Avatar m tn I get like this from time to time. After many scans found out I do have a slight bone spur and deviated nasal septum-means its crooked- but, alas it does not STAY blocked up because I alternate out of each side blowing junk out of it and my ENT actually said if it were 100% blocked I'd never breath out of the side thats blocked not blow a bunch of stuff out and then (temporarily) feel better. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Not only did I get a dorsal hump, I think I have a deviated septum, because my left nostril is a lot easier to breath through than my right nostril, and not only that my left nostril also got much bigger than my right one . I used to love how my nose looked, it was hump-less and my nostrils were even, but now I have ruined that.
Avatar n tn A combination of chronic allergy and a deviated nasal septum could also be causing your symptoms of sinusitis. Resolving these issues might help reduce your symptoms. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have seen an ENT and had a CAT scan. The result was that I had a slightly deviated septum and could have surgery, but he said there's no way of knowing whether or not it would help. Also, he said that though an allergist will test for common allergins, it's impossible to test for all allergins, so that could be a cause as well. I do not have the money to pay for surgery, especially if there is no guarentee it will even help at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
Avatar f tn I had my first sinus infection in 2000. I was diagnosed with a deviated septum. Lived in Houston at the time, sinus infections were 1 every 3 months at least. I moved to a small country town in 2005. Had septoplasty to repair deviated septum. had allergy testing done and allergy shots. It was 6 months before I had a sinus infection after surgery. I have used NeilMed saline rinse for 6 years, and it truly cleanses the nostrils. I am a faithful uses, morning and evening.
Avatar n tn The nasal block could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum or nasal polyps. Sinus infection causes blockage of flow especially when a person lies down. The blockade is affected by the side to which the person turns also. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations.
Avatar m tn Ok so I got a CT scan done and the otorhinolaryngologist head doctor found a very big cyst in one of my sinus cavities, and commented on my deviated septum and how it is very crooked (genetic) also the cartilage is structurally messed up and both nostrils have a lot of blockage...my nose basically ***** at doing its job. They're going to have surgery to fix it so that I can breathe properly through my nose.
Avatar m tn I have been having chronic problems with post nasal drip and pressure on the bridge of my nose. It's not terribly bothersome, rather annoying. Let me explain what I mean by post nasal drip. I feel like there is constantly mucus stuck in the back of my nose. It isn't really dripping down my throat, rather just sitting in the back of my nose. It feels thick and I often have to snort in order to get it out. It is not discolored, just clear/milky white.
Avatar f tn I'm a 40 year and have a deviated septum since the age of 13 years of age. Over the years I just dought with it and giving it much thought. But for the last 5 year I've had noticed symptoms of headache, anxiety, virtigo, stomach problems such as gas, belching and as well as tightening of my throat when eating.got a CT scan and was told theirs inflammations and development A frontal ethmoid ,sphenoid & maxillary sinuses.
2058275 tn?1330706149 Assuming you are referring to a deviated NASAL septum (FYI there is a region of the heart called the septum), the answer is POSSIBLY. A deviated nasal septum, when severe, could impair normal respiratory pattern. In some cases this has led to loud snoring and even obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA could cause inadequate oxygenation during sleep, putting extra stress on the heart, which has been linked to the development and worsening of atrial fibrillation (AF).
