Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar m tn it took me almost half of my life to determine the problem in my nose that had altered my life. I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose. i still experience excessive sweating, sinusitis, tinutis but tonsilitis i havent experience it so far, and its been a year and 1/2 since my surgery.
Avatar m tn My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
Avatar m tn I have a deviated septum. I've been searching on google for a while now and I think my case is one of the most deviated septum ever seen :| And I would like to know if that would be easy to fix it and what would it cost in Canada! And I just uploaded pics on my profile! Thanks!
Avatar f tn My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.
Avatar f tn is it because my deviated septum is visibly crooked there? (you can see my septum on the inside of my left nostril) and the hole to breathe in is smaller? or is it the allergies/small sinus infection? or could it even be really bad Anxiety making me feel this way? Any response is greatly appreciated. Or if somebody else has had this as well that would be great.
1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
Avatar f tn I hope the title doesn't seem too silly, but yes, I haven't been able to find a slow breathing technique that works for me in the last 2 years. I can't breathe through my nose really well, deviated septum. ENT's told me to fix my anxiety before contemplating any surgery. And then I clench because I have TMJ, that is a work in progress. I breathe abdominally but I constantly feel jammed up around the neck and mouth.
538090 tn?1213808112 I just had my deviated septum repaired last Wednesday, along with sinus surgery. I couldn't breath thru my nose at all, and my sinus' had almost quit working from being blocked, so constant chronic sinus infections. I haven't experienced much relief yet, but it's only been 8 days so far. They only way to fix a deviated septum is surgery. Without the surgery it can cause a lot of sleep problems, sleep apnea, disturbed sleep patterns, dry mouth. Lots of complicated problems.
Avatar n tn re only getting worse. My CT scan was negative for chronic sinusitis but showed a slight deviated septum with a bone spur. The congestion was not in my sinuses but rather in my upper nasal cavity. My nose isn't realIy runny but I get a ton of post nasal drip that makes me feel as though I am drowning. I got allergy testing done and I am not allergic to anything.
Avatar m tn I had a deviated septum and 3 surgeries to fix but still have problems and wonder if if the surgeries that cause this but the doctors don't know a thing. It is frustrating. I wish you the best. I choke, throw up etc.
Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
Avatar m tn surgery for deviated septum; and eyelid surgery to tighten my eyelids – but they only fixed the problem by about 75%. One oculoplastic doctor that I saw suggested getting Botox shots near my eyes to see if that might help with the problem(she sais that the shots help people about 20% of the time). The other oculoplastic doctor suggested that I have a surgery to get Jones tubes put in. The Botox shots cost $100 to try. Also I don't know how visible the Jones tubes would be.
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
1452978 tn?1285110262 Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Not only did I get a dorsal hump, I think I have a deviated septum, because my left nostril is a lot easier to breath through than my right nostril, and not only that my left nostril also got much bigger than my right one . I used to love how my nose looked, it was hump-less and my nostrils were even, but now I have ruined that.
Avatar m tn You should see an ENT surgeron to determine how bad the deviated septum is and how you can fix it (normally an easy day surgery - I took a week off of work from it but I was fine after 5 days - however mine was not bad enough to need to break my nose which would increase the recovery time).
4556201 tn?1356445652 It could be a combined procedure, surgery for the deviated septum and the bump. Consult your primary care physician, who may then refer you to an ENT surgeon. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
Avatar m tn Ok so I got a CT scan done and the otorhinolaryngologist head doctor found a very big cyst in one of my sinus cavities, and commented on my deviated septum and how it is very crooked (genetic) also the cartilage is structurally messed up and both nostrils have a lot of blockage...my nose basically ***** at doing its job. They're going to have surgery to fix it so that I can breathe properly through my nose.
Avatar f tn Just read your posting from six months ago as I explore why I had a severely deviated septum and it struck a chord. I had septoplasty, sinus surgery and turbinate reduction two years ago and it was the best thing I had done for myself in years. Unfortunately, I did not realize my problem until I was in my early 50s after suffering countless sinus infections while dealing with severe environmental allergies that were all diminishing my quality of life.
Avatar n tn I know surgery is an option for the deviated septum. But will my nose ever not hurt again??? It also causes so much pressure in my ears that it has aggravated my TMJ. Sure wish I knew then what I know now...
Avatar f tn 20 mg ,been on it over 6 weeks now ,I do a have a nasal deviated septum on the right side and that's the side were the problems have been
Avatar f tn I was seriously assaulted one year ago and CT showed I had 4 fractures in my face including orbital and one on the top of my nose, next to my eye. I had to have corrective surgery to fix the bone on the top of my nose and a deviated septum. When this assault took place, I was punched once and experienced instant numbness on the whole right side of the front of my face and on the upper right side of my two front teeth and gums, even though I wasn't hit in my mouth, but by my eye.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
