Plastic surgery can repair the deviated septum in most cases...but as far as tissue loss....and other damage...sometimes those things are irreversible. Certainly wouldn't hurt to have a consultation with a physician about it. Best of luck!

I had a septoplasty in the summer to repair my badly deviated septum. I now wake up alert and full of energy for the first time in my life and school is a breeze. I had so many problems that I thought for sure it could not be related to my sinuses. ALL of them were. I feel like my life before the surgery was just wasted because I didn't function at half the level I now do.

I went to an EET and had sinus surgery done a few years ago to open up for drainage and to repair a deviated septum. However, since then the pressure and lightheadedness is getting worse and adding to the equation I've got fullness in my ears. Sometimes at night it's all I can do to stand it; the pressure is so bad. I've been to the doctor complaining several times and he says it's "Indiana sinuses". I just don't know where to turn or what to do.

t see a reason to repair it, so im going to start a field hockey season with a deviated septum. and breathing problems. and lack of sleep due to breathing problems. THANKS DOC The pain from my rib is getting better. i really think it might just have been bruised.

I have had four surgeries over 7 years for cosmetic reasons on my deviated septum. The last time I had surgery I was warned that I may be left wth nasal drip due to the amount of procedures I have had...I accepted this and after my last operation in May 2008 I have had nasal drip which is aggrevated by dust and pollen etc I keep this at bay with cetirizine hydrocholride.

5mm Cyst in my stenoid sinus, also Deviated septum repair. Most cases they would not do this for but mine is causing way too many problems. 7 times in 3 months ER for allergies, hit like a mac truck. This better work..Good luck to you..

Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.

I moved to a small country town in 2005. Had septoplasty to repair deviated septum. had allergy testing done and allergy shots. It was 6 months before I had a sinus infection after surgery. I have used NeilMed saline rinse for 6 years, and it truly cleanses the nostrils. I am a faithful uses, morning and evening. I have daily headaches, I sleep elevated. I take Zyrtec at night. Sudafed, alavert, and benadryl for a severe allergy due to grass, trees etc.

Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. In Elementary school, I fractured my nose pretty bad. Then in my early teens, I realized I had a 'bump' on the bridge, & a deviated septum. The 'bump' is caused by 2 super sharp bones sticking out. (It's so extreme/sharp that family & friends I let touch it were *all* really shocked by it, & assured me it was*not* normal.

I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!

I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told by my ENT specialist that i need a surgery ( September 8th, 2008) along with turbinate reduction. I was doing alright until I had a bout of flu four weeks ago and this made my life miserable. Then came along bronchitis which made my breathing through the mouth impossible. I am still having a little wheezing on my left chest and took an x-ray yesterday. I will have an answer within two days to see what the actual diagnosis will be.

I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.

Can you get a deviated septum if you snort pain pills? Like hydrocodiene, percs, norcos.?

I have been having chronic problems with post nasal drip and pressure on the bridge of my nose. It's not terribly bothersome, rather annoying. Let me explain what I mean by post nasal drip. I feel like there is constantly mucus stuck in the back of my nose. It isn't really dripping down my throat, rather just sitting in the back of my nose. It feels thick and I often have to snort in order to get it out. It is not discolored, just clear/milky white.

The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.

So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...

I'm a 40 year and have a deviated septum since the age of 13 years of age. Over the years I just dought with it and giving it much thought. Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.

Assuming you are referring to a deviated NASAL septum (FYI there is a region of the heart called the septum), the answer is POSSIBLY. A deviated nasal septum, when severe, could impair normal respiratory pattern. In some cases this has led to loud snoring and even obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Following the MRI I had surgery to repair the deviated sinus. I was also prescribed an 81 mg. aspirin daily. I was also evaluated for Sjogren's Syndrom,with negative results there. Temporary plugs were placed in the right lower punctum without success, and the pain persisted. Finally the right lower punctum was cauterized to see if the presence of additional tearing would be helpful. But the pain did not abate.
