402205 tn?1230481005 I had a CT and it showed a lot of nasal congestion but very little sinus. It also showed a slightly deviated septum and nasal polyps on the middle turbinate. What do you suggest I do?
Avatar n tn The 2 most common causes in adolescents and adults are deviation of the nasal septum and nasal polyps, the latter often associated with chronic allergic inflammation of the nose. A deviated nasal septum can be corrected with surgery. Nasal polyps were, in the past, often treated surgically but at this time treatment with an inhaled nasal steroid, such as Flonase® (fluticasone), can effectively shrink the nasal polyps. You should make arrangements to be seen by an ENT specialist.
Avatar n tn The septoplasty or rhinoplasty for deviated nasal septum (DNS) will help you to relieve your symptoms. I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon for further management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the most common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction and breathing difficulty. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar m tn it revealed several polyps through out my sinuses, pus in my left cheek sinus, and airpocket in another sinus, deviated septum and my turbinates are 4x larger then they should be .im on xyzyal which is like zyrtec, veramyst, singular and i take claritin every day...
Avatar m tn The common causes for such nasal blockage, including nasal polyps and sinus infection. Deviated nasal septum (DNS) can also leads to obstruction. The sinus infection also leads to headache. Another important but rare possibility is Sjögren's syndrome. This is a rare disorder and is also associated with dryness of mouth and eye. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar m tn m not allergic to anything. I also wanted to ask if I have a deviated septum or not, the septum of my nose feels curved to the left and my left nostril has trouble breathing in and out, not to mention the stuffy nose makes it even harder. My nose is not crooked though, just the inside feels curved. What can be done about this as well?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed as having a deviated septum, chronic sinusitus, polyps and a possible mucus pocket. What I don't get is my Homocysteine level is 45.4 (normal high is 11.4) and white matter leaking at the front part of my head. I believe this all started 4 years ago when I broke my nose.

Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Polyps or nasal growths are usually restricted to the nasal cavity. If they are large enough to protrude outside causing distortion of the nasal profile, they are likely to cause nasal blockage. A Complete ENT examination can provide further insight to rule out polyps or cysts or tumors. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I was told to go back for a CT scan and yesterday I was shocked to be told that I have a deviated septum (S shape), either a nasal cyst or polyp, and one turbinate significantly larger than the other. The ENT specialist has recommended an "all in one" surgery to remove my polyp/cist, reduce my turbinate and straighten my septum. He figures the reason for my total lack of smell is due to my nose being so blocked that nothing can get to my smelling glands/receptors.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed as having chronic sinusitus, nasal polyps and a deviated septum. I am tired all the time, get shaky, sore throat, ear pain, can often hear my heartbeat very loudly in my ear, feel really slow and dumb, confused, pressure behind the eye, vision changes, my eyes hurt all the time, dry, gritty feeling and almost feel like I'm staring. I feel like my voice changes (which nobody can tell).
Avatar f tn t been sick in years actually. Can it be due to a deviated septum and polyps and blockage in the nose? because I was recently diagnosed with that. There also was a point when I've been having pressure/migraine headaches but that seemed to have went away. I am just worried about this. Would an ultrasound pick up cancer if it was abnormal?
Avatar m tn CT Scan is not a requirement to diagnose a deviated septum at most places, usually the doctor just examines the septum under light himself.
Avatar n tn 12 years ago I had 12 benign nasal polyps removed and major work done on the right side of my sinuses and a corrected deviated septum. The septum became very crooked due to all the polyps. Since that time, I often experience pressure on the right side of face and head when I bend over. I also get weird headaches on the top right side of head that worsen when pressed upon.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the important causes needed to be ruled out are Deviated nasal septum (DNS) and allergic rhinitis. These conditions can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. Recurrent infection is sign of low immunity. You need to increase immunity by proper nutritious food, regular exercise, mental fitness etc.
Avatar n tn You may have a deviated septum. I do and I sympathize with you.
Avatar n tn The nasal block could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum or nasal polyps. Sinus infection causes blockage of flow especially when a person lies down. The blockade is affected by the side to which the person turns also. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations.
Avatar f tn This can be caused by acute infection, nasal polyps, and anatomical deformities, such as a deviated septum. You may need antibiotic treatment and decongestants. If it persists, have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn My doctor made the opening to my maxillary sinuses to be about the size of a quarter. He also fixed my deviated septum and cleared out some polyps. After the surgery I had many complications and was unable to breathe out of my nose for quite some time. The doctor said it was due to my nasal passages being super sensitive (I couldn't even use a saline solution without them swelling up.) Also, my nose creates a mucus that is the consistancy of egg whites.
Avatar n tn In Aug 2008 I had a Deviated Septum Septoplasty out of no where in late September I felt really light headed, trouble breathing through my nose, and I felt like I was going to passing out. The event happen to me 3 times in 3 weeks. Each time I was hopitalize with pefect for vital signs. The light headed spells started getting longer by the day to the point where I felt lighted headed all day & often was concern that I was going to passout and find myself in the hospital again.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a deviated septum, nasal polyps, chronic sinusitus and a possible mucus pocket. My symptoms and issues all started about 4 years ago when I broke my nose. I was just really confused when I was told the results of my MRI, but then told my SED rate was 2 out of 20. I often can hear my heartbeat in my ear and other problems, but the ENT told me I don't have fluid in my ear, nor post nasal drip (which I find hard to believe).
