Ever since this cold, I noticed a swollen area (about 1 cm across, skin color, a bit whiter) at the tip of my nose, right side. My general doctor says it is 'swollen cartilge' and has referred me to an ENT doctor. I am anxious and thought I would ask here: Anyone that has suffered a deviated septum...Did you actually have any swelling on your nose? Thank you.
Septoplasty for deviated septum and coblation of the turbinates My teenage son had this as outpatient surgery two days ago. Day one was pretty rough, so keep current on those painkillers. His doctor's advice; use bags of frozen peas instead of ice packs - they mold to the face better. The cold really helps. He also told me to get an over the counter spray called "simply saline" to spray right in the nose to keep it moist.
I’m a 28 year old male with acute sinusitis and a deviated septum and my sinus cavities are packed with polyps. When I was younger I had an allergy test done, and I was allergic to a few things, 20 years later, same test I was so allergic to everything they put on me that they had to stop because I swelled up so much. I don’t understand how that could happen that I could be so allergic to so many things in a few years.
Hi Everyone, In Aug 2008 I had a Deviated Septum Nasal Surgery, I had all the common reaction with tons of bleeding for 1 - 2 weeks till my nose healed. I always felt even after surgery my nose felt stuff or swollen & I found myself having trouble breathing. Well this continues for a few months. On Sept 29th 2008 I spayed Afrin up my nose for the 1st time for 2 spays each & felt really high for a few seconds.
believe me when i tell you that if you continue the use of coke you will have much more to worry about than your nose. I dont have a deviated septum but i do have one hole that goes directly to my sinus cavity and another that goes srtraight to the back of my throat. in the last 7 yrs of use i would do a minimum of a ball or 3 to 4g's. daily about some point maybe 5 yrs ago my nose stopped being able to drain at all.
I looked up nose shape change symptoms and it said that the following were possible Congenital disorder Nose injury Broken nose Deviated septum Separated septum Saddlenose deformity Rhinophyma Nasal septal necrosis Nasal tumor Leprosy

I have had four surgeries over 7 years for cosmetic reasons on my deviated septum. The last time I had surgery I was warned that I may be left wth nasal drip due to the amount of procedures I have had...I accepted this and after my last operation in May 2008 I have had nasal drip which is aggrevated by dust and pollen etc I keep this at bay with cetirizine hydrocholride.
I have 3 lumps in the tip of my nose. They feel like balls of cartilage and i can kind of move/roll them around under my skin. I have 2 big ones side by side on the tip and a smaller one above them, more on the bridge. I've had them for a long time. Im pretty sure I have a deviated septum but idk if its related or not.
It's actually making me really paranoid when I'm around people. The bulbous tip of my nose seems swell up at times and I swear, the right side of my face looks significantly different/puffier than the left. I almost look like two different people when side pictures are taken. I find that I struggle to breath properly, especially when I work out. This has led to quite a bit of mouth breathing.
Due to the splinting and packing in my nose I ended up with a large perforation in my septum. I get my nose debrided every 4-6wks. I have been told it can't be fixed. I have seen 2 additional reputable surgeons that specialize in this type of repair. It is has been 3 yrs. and I always get that pungent odor when it needs debridement. Most of the time when the ENT looks with an endoscope after emptying my nose I have an active sinuse infection. My family does smell it.
Any trauma to nose or any direct blow to nose? If not, then probably you might have Deviated nasal septum which also gives the appearance of deformed nose. I think you should consult a ENT specialist and discuss regarding further management. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
And having experience with a deviated septum myself, the airflow is altered in your nose, and that alone can cause problems. Plus the other nostril will be blocked to a certain degree. Do you have problems with sinus infections? Or snoring that interferes with your sleep? Perhaps your should see an ENT who can help you with your septum problems.
1. Foul odor from the nose not subsiding with the treatment 2. Dry nose 3. Nose getting worse during menstruation or bout of alcohol All the above problems indicate that, probably you must be suffering from Atrophic Rhinitis (the condition being uncommon). It is difficult to get rid of this condition medically. There are few options which you can try. a. Frequent alkaline nasal douching b.
Hi I have had this problem for about 3 weeks, I have a sort of fluid leaking from inside the tip which burns and irritates the inside of my nostrils. I have had a deviated septum for about 12 years following an accident. My doctor has already given a course of oral antibiotics that had no effect. I now have some bactroban ointment which works for a couple of hours. I have also been prescribed Nasonex which I feel may be hampering recovery?
Next thing I know, my left nostril is smaller or more slanted than the other nostril. Then, the tip of my nose throughout my left and right nostril feels like there's no bone at all, it feels like a baby nose, it is very flexible. My septum has not created a full hole yet, and I haven't had no major nose bleeds. My throat has been having a lot of mucus lately, so that's probably a sinus infection right?
then as i got into doing the cocaine i have realised it happens more. i dont really get nose bleeds tho. ive read some posts on the nasal septum corroding. how do i know if this is happening to me? the peice between my nostrils feels thin, now that i have stopped using, will the corrosion continue? please get back to me as i cant stop thinking about this.
my sinus surgery i had my deviated septum fixed and lots of polyps dug out. so any advice given would be highly appreciated on my previous post. i get so worried.
Usually it's not one thing, but usually due to a combination of different reasons. For example, if you have a mildly deviated septum, suffering from mild allergies will swell up your nasal turbinates, narrowing you nasal passageways. This may not be enough to clog up your nose, but if you have flimsy nostrils or had rhinoplasty in the past that weakened the nostrils, then breathing in with a stuffy nose may trigger your nostrils to collapse.
T specialist ,finally after the long *** waiting list, whom concluded that I had a deviated septum, (nose cartilage), which allowed more air in so I secreated more flem, more air flowing in meant drier nasal wall which meant bleeding, so the option is to have septoplasty, which is surgery to correct the septum, therefore stopping the symptoms and allowing me to live like a real 18 year old.
Just a very sharp pain in the nose that seemed almost to be in the bone and cartilage, hurting mostly over the bridge and traveling down to the tip of the nose, as if my nose was broken. But I hadn't had any injury to my face. I've been on an antibiotic, Cephalexin, for 10 days and the pain is nearly all gone. I still feel it slightly if I push my finger into the bridge of my nose where the pain started.
If you do start to notice any pain towards the tip of your nose, up towards the bridge, grab a Q-tip and try packing that corner of your nose with plain old over-the-counter antibiotic (like bacitracin or neosporin) if available in your country, and keep doing that 2 or 3 times a day until a few days after all symptoms and sensation goes away. (The same way you're supposed to take all your antibiotic pills, even if the symptoms go away early).
In addition, I feel like I am getting pimples in there, but there is nothing visible. Also, the nose appears to have changed shape. The tip appears slightly larger, and the sides have more prominent swollen ridges. I asked my primary about it, and he said that there is only one cause for nose growth, and that I clearly don't have that. He recommended that I go to an ENT to get the nose checked out, and I really just want to know if there is anything in particular I should ask about.
I have intranasal cavity damage as a result of my abuse,as well as a deviated septum which also complicates things. Congratulations on your decison to quit!!! So proud of you!! It's tough,I know, but worth it. As far as what you are describing,I've not heard of that portion of the nose being affected that way. It's best to see your doctor and come clean with him/her and see what can be done.Maybe try the concealer..who knows,it may improve your self esteem if nothing else.
A few years ago I had correction of a deviated septum and while they were in there they layered my turbinates to help chronic sinusitis. Between the two...much relief of long-suffering. I constantly felt like I had just accidentally gotten a snoot full of dirty pool water up my nose and got 5 to 10 bad infections a year. No more of that. May 1 or 2 a year, usually following a nasty cold, like a normal person. Took a long time to recover from surgery.
A deviated septum can sometimes lead to a deviated nose. If it is determined that the deviated nose is responsible for impaired breathing, then the insurance may cover some of the cosmetic changes that are necessary to improve breathing. An in-person exam would really be necessary to provide you with the best advice. Thanks very much for the message and best of luck to you.
Reason as to why this happens. Deviated septum perhaps? When you breath in the air sometimes hits the internal area of the nose, where it's tender and is just blood vessels so it dries out. So basically have your septum fixed, or learn to love ointment and blowing out scabs. Maybe you're lucky like me and it was just a scab that couldn't heal without cauterizing. A broken blood vessel that won't heal.
Well, not only i smy septum still super deviated, but everytime I clean my nose, my septum is bleeding. I clean it with a Q-tip so I don't hurt it, but it's always, always bleeding. Is this normal?
I used to have a perfect petite nose as as child and then my septum deviated to a severity that it was impossible to breathe out of my nose. Aside from that, it caused my nose to become massive and ugly. Two years ago I had corrective surgery that included turbinate reduction, removing bone obstructing the sinuses natural passage and a septoplasty. After about a year and a half or so, the septoplasty failed and I had to get it fixed again at the end of July '10.
