So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...

Hi, I am due to have a septoplasty for a deviated septum and the turbinate reduction surgery the end of March. My left turbinate is swollen on the side of the deviation. I have had coblation surgery (where they use Radio-frequency to shrink the turbinate). We only shrunk the front of my inferior turbinate. This did well for about 19 months (until I caught a cold back at Thanksgiving). Then the swelling started all over again- now in the back part of my turbinate.

I had a CT and it showed a lot of nasal congestion but very little sinus. It also showed a slightly deviated septum and nasal polyps on the middle turbinate. What do you suggest I do?

I'am planning to have sinus surgery (septopasty) to correct a deviated septum and deciding between surgeons. One of the surgeons attaches splints with breathing tubes to each side of the repaired septum, the other surgeon just stitches the 2 sides of the septum together in a procedure called "quilting".

Your symptoms could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could also be due to a deviated nasal septum. Has anyone else experienced hearing loss or impairment with problems associated with deviated septums or nasal spurs? I have a deviated septum that has been giving me a lot of nasal blockage feelings and breathing difficulty. My hearing has also gotten worse..which coincidentally has been a genetic thing in my family.....so is the deviated septum..... I have problems with fluid in my ears as well as what they say is neural hearing loss based on my hearing tests..

Nasal bony septum deviated to the right. Ostiomeatal complex is patent on both sides. Minor mucosal thickening involves floor of left maxillary sinus due to chronic sinus disease. There is no air fluid level. Remaining sinuses are clear. No evidence of acute sinusitis. Bones are intact. No soft tissue mass. Nasal passage is clear. Conclusion: Mild left maxillary chronic sinus disease.

I saw an ENT recently who told me that I have a slightly deviated septum but I doubt that could be causing all of these problems. I drink plenty of water, I've tried decongestants, the ENT I saw prescribed an anti-inflammatory nasal spray (barely helped), I've tried pain killers which don't do much if anything, I've tried cold compresses, hot compresses. Nothing seem to works and this is making my day to day life a struggle. I'm looking for any suggestions, thanks.

My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.

I had a nasal surgery of deviated septum...called sub mucosal resection...and after dat I am suffering like hell..I am suffering from a stuffy nose...and white thik mucus..draining from my nose into throat..which leaves a horrible taste..which has reduced my social interaction considerably..please help...

I have had four surgeries over 7 years for cosmetic reasons on my deviated septum. The last time I had surgery I was warned that I may be left wth nasal drip due to the amount of procedures I have had...I accepted this and after my last operation in May 2008 I have had nasal drip which is aggrevated by dust and pollen etc I keep this at bay with cetirizine hydrocholride.

After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side. This occurred a few years ago, and after several months of taking seizure medication and lortab, I was not getting any better.

I have heard of a perforated septum and deviated septum- Can these things lead to a feeling of your eye starting to sink in (it totally is not noticable to look at) its just a slight feeling. What is that all about? AND from there can it cause more damage to your ear drums? Like having a popping or clicking sound when blowing by nose. I would appreciate any advise- insurance issues, surgerys, natural healing, but please dont say to me to stop doing cocaine.

I get like this from time to time. After many scans found out I do have a slight bone spur and deviated nasal septum-means its crooked- but, alas it does not STAY blocked up because I alternate out of each side blowing junk out of it and my ENT actually said if it were 100% blocked I'd never breath out of the side thats blocked not blow a bunch of stuff out and then (temporarily) feel better. I know surgery is an option for the deviated septum. But will my nose ever not hurt again??? It also causes so much pressure in my ears that it has aggravated my TMJ. Sure wish I knew then what I know now...

I was told to go back for a CT scan and yesterday I was shocked to be told that I have a deviated septum (S shape), either a nasal cyst or polyp, and one turbinate significantly larger than the other. The ENT specialist has recommended an "all in one" surgery to remove my polyp/cist, reduce my turbinate and straighten my septum. He figures the reason for my total lack of smell is due to my nose being so blocked that nothing can get to my smelling glands/receptors.
