Might want to get an opinion from a ear, nose and throat doctor to see if breaking your nose has damaged your nose. It might have changed the deviated septum to a point that something should be done to fix it. Anything that is very painful and doesn't improve greatly within 24 hours should be seen by a doctor.

I was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told by my ENT specialist that i need a surgery ( September 8th, 2008) along with turbinate reduction. I was doing alright until I had a bout of flu four weeks ago and this made my life miserable. Then came along bronchitis which made my breathing through the mouth impossible. I am still having a little wheezing on my left chest and took an x-ray yesterday. I will have an answer within two days to see what the actual diagnosis will be.

Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.

Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?

The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.

Has anyone else experienced hearing loss or impairment with problems associated with deviated septums or nasal spurs? I have a deviated septum that has been giving me a lot of nasal blockage feelings and breathing difficulty. My hearing has also gotten worse..which coincidentally has been a genetic thing in my family.....so is the deviated septum..... I have problems with fluid in my ears as well as what they say is neural hearing loss based on my hearing tests..

Can you get a deviated septum if you snort pain pills? Like hydrocodiene, percs, norcos.?

Now the inside of my nose has been eaten away. I have been told by my ENT that I have a deviated septum now and acute chronic sinunitus. He gave me a great receipe for a nasal solution that helps but not enough. In the mornings, my nose is so dry and stopped up that it hurts. When I try to blow all the muscus out, it is dry and hard so it hurts terribly. I have used tweesers to help pull some out but it is getting annoying. It seems to be so far up my nose that I can't get to it easily.

I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.

So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...

After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side. I went to an EET and had sinus surgery done a few years ago to open up for drainage and to repair a deviated septum. You should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist as you may be suffering from chronic allergic rhinitis, a condition that is best managed medically. Certainly a deviated nasal septum can make your symptoms worse but recurrent sinus infections are more likely the result of an obstruction to sinus cavity outflow. This can be a result a allergic causes or anatomic obstruction.

Multiple bones have getting bent in my body not due to an injury including a deviated nasal septum. Is there some sort of week bones disease that I can have?

I understand your suffering, but think I am getting off easy. I do not have a deviated septum (as far as I know - just sticking my finger in my left then right nostril I can say they feel about the same size-wise, but I can't reach very far before hitting the "top", maybe up to my first knuckle on my small finger, just comparing measurement techniques in case it tells us something).

Your symptoms of dizziness and lightheadedness, if are relieved by eating something, indicate that you might be having episodes of hypoglycemia. If you saw the detailed anatomy of all the tiny canals of the ears and nose and eyes, you would be very impressed that we don't have more problems. It sounds like you have a deviated septum, which is more a bony problem than cartilage problem. Deviated septum can cause ear problems. You could try putting a solution of witch hazel and tea tree oil into the ear with an eye dropper for relief. It will clean out the ear.

well i have deviated septum for yrs found out when i was little along with sleep apnea prob because of this .no problems ever with weight when i was little though after i had two kids i'm a little over weight 5'4 160 lbs , seems to be getting worse i wake up choking and trying to catch breath so i'm afraid they'll just say i'm overweight to lose it , and scared to get anything done with my nose has anybody ever had this done , would it be a wise choice , how much pain etc.

I guess I should start with the fact that my husband has been suffering with this for 4 years. he never had any problems with sinuses or allergies or really anything until he worked in fiberglass for 10 months. Now he has constant pressure on his eyes, ears, and head. His throat closes or is so raw that he can't eat. We have found one doctor that dx a sever deviated septum. Unfortunately he needs 4,000.00 to fix something that might not even help. has anyone ever had a septum fixed?

my hubby did not have a deviated septum, if so he would have needed surgery this is gross, and actual chunk of his nose feel out when we was younger as a result of snorting and his nose is fine now i have to get off here soon, but i will check in tommorow if you stick your finger up your nose can you feel a hole? scabs? or is it just really flexible?
