Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum bad you

Avatar m tn All of these problems you described could be related to your deviated septum. I have had many of the problems that you have experienced although not all of them. I am now a senior in college. I had a septoplasty in the summer to repair my badly deviated septum. I now wake up alert and full of energy for the first time in my life and school is a breeze. I had so many problems that I thought for sure it could not be related to my sinuses. ALL of them were.
4556201 tn?1356445652 Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. In Elementary school, I fractured my nose pretty bad. Then in my early teens, I realized I had a 'bump' on the bridge, & a deviated septum. The 'bump' is caused by 2 super sharp bones sticking out. (It's so extreme/sharp that family & friends I let touch it were *all* really shocked by it, & assured me it was*not* normal.
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar f tn I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
Avatar m tn Hi, its unlikely that a deviated septum can cause dizziness. Deviated septum can cause problems with breathing, as it causes nasal blockage. Your symptoms of dizziness and lightheadedness, if are relieved by eating something, indicate that you might be having episodes of hypoglycemia. Inadequate sleep can also cause tiredness, fatigue and dizziness. Other causes for these symptoms are inner ear infections; brain disorders heart problems, fever, stress, low blood pressure and anxiety.
538090 tn?1213808112 My question to you is, is it common for both nostrils to get congested at the same time because of deviated septum or my flu and bronchitis plays a role in it? I haven't been sleeping for over three weeks because of that and is developing anxiety and is afraid to go to bed. Since my surgery date is in September, I would like you to help me to regain my sanity and restore some sleep.
Avatar m tn For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left. The question on whether or not you will need to go through the operation would be best suited for your doctor to advise you on.
Avatar n tn have you really. what do they do, put in a plug?
Avatar f tn CSF is Cerebrospinal Fluid. If the nurse swabbed you up to your deviated septum, then it could be either two things. It could be a CSF leak or an infection of your deviated septum. Most likely it is an infection caused by the nurse shoving that swab deep up in there, going into your deviated septum, and ripped open a blood vessel. All you can do is take some antibiotics, or see a ENT doctor for further analysis.
Avatar m tn I have a deviated septum. I've been searching on google for a while now and I think my case is one of the most deviated septum ever seen :| And I would like to know if that would be easy to fix it and what would it cost in Canada! And I just uploaded pics on my profile! Thanks!
Avatar m tn The bits of blood you see could be from your sinuses, due to the wrong airflow from your deviated septum. And also if you have lung issues you will have shortness of breath from all the excess mucous blocking your airways. It sounds like you're in good hands. If you do experience breathing issues you could always request pulmonary function tests to see how well your lungs are performing.
Avatar m tn You should see an ENT surgeron to determine how bad the deviated septum is and how you can fix it (normally an easy day surgery - I took a week off of work from it but I was fine after 5 days - however mine was not bad enough to need to break my nose which would increase the recovery time).
Avatar f tn t want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar f tn is it because my deviated septum is visibly crooked there? (you can see my septum on the inside of my left nostril) and the hole to breathe in is smaller? or is it the allergies/small sinus infection? or could it even be really bad Anxiety making me feel this way? Any response is greatly appreciated. Or if somebody else has had this as well that would be great.
Avatar m tn I have problems believing that the deviated septum is the cause of all of this but I could be wrong. My symptoms are quite bad to the point of my day to day life being a struggle. This is why I'm desperate for some answers or any relief. I appreciate the suggestion about the alternative therapies though, I will go ahead and post something similar over there to see if anyone has any ideas.
Avatar f tn Deviated septum cause low oxygen in the body and it may leads to digits clubbing due to low oxygen in the body are this both related deviated septum and low oxygen
Avatar m tn Can you get a deviated septum if you snort pain pills? Like hydrocodiene, percs, norcos.?
Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
Avatar f tn Does long term deviated septum cause any chronic low oxygen in body how to manage it and low oxygen results in hypoxia which may cause low oxygen supply to body parts experts can clarify thank you
Avatar m tn I have been having chronic problems with post nasal drip and pressure on the bridge of my nose. It's not terribly bothersome, rather annoying. Let me explain what I mean by post nasal drip. I feel like there is constantly mucus stuck in the back of my nose. It isn't really dripping down my throat, rather just sitting in the back of my nose. It feels thick and I often have to snort in order to get it out. It is not discolored, just clear/milky white.
