Avatar m tn I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
Avatar f tn I have a deviated septum, and have to mouth breathe. This causes dry mouth, but nothing can do. We tend to have congestion when pregnant which leads ro more mouth breathing. Take care.
Avatar m tn For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left. The question on whether or not you will need to go through the operation would be best suited for your doctor to advise you on.
Avatar m tn It's probably either from dryness due to mouth breathing, or from your stomach juices that are being suctioned into your mouth. I would consider seeing a sleep doctor about possible sleep problems.
538090 tn?1213808112 After I was diagnosed with Deviated Septum, I have had no trouble breathing until a bout of flu and bronchitis hit me some four weeks ago. This really made my life a living hell and I searched and searched in the net to see what I can do to get relief. So much so that I visited my doctors 4-6 times within that span. I am a very healthy 49 years man (knock on woods) and barely visit or take medications.
Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
Avatar f tn t see a reason to repair it, so im going to start a field hockey season with a deviated septum. and breathing problems. and lack of sleep due to breathing problems. THANKS DOC The pain from my rib is getting better. i really think it might just have been bruised.
Avatar m tn One side of my nose is blocked and will open if I change sides (deviated septum / have tried nasal strips and saline before bed). In short, I mostly get my rest okay, ......but I am tired of not having the freedom to sleep "anytime" I want. Once I get up in the morning, I don't rest until a set time late at night. Is spaying the Oasis down my throat each night safe to ingest for extended periods? Is it safe to up the dose of PrilosecOTC to 2 pills per day to see if it works?
Avatar f tn Everyone here has deviated septum and had sudden profound hearing loss? Yes?
Avatar m tn The nasal injury could have caused a deviated nasal septum and this could further cause difficulty breathing through the nose. Also, the dry mouth indicates breathing through the mouth. The condition needs evaluation and therapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi, the most common cause for nasal obstruction is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction and breathing difficulty. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar m tn My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
Avatar f tn Septoplasty for deviated septum and coblation of the turbinates My teenage son had this as outpatient surgery two days ago. Day one was pretty rough, so keep current on those painkillers. His doctor's advice; use bags of frozen peas instead of ice packs - they mold to the face better. The cold really helps. He also told me to get an over the counter spray called "simply saline" to spray right in the nose to keep it moist.
Avatar m tn My question is how much do the stents interfere with your ability to breath during recovery and do the breathing tubes really help or just plug up with dried blood and mucous and take up breathing space.
Avatar f tn As it is found in some researches that deviated septum can cause disordered breathing during sleep.
Avatar f tn There are a number of reasons for mouth breathing. The first thing to consider is your nose. Do you have allergies, a deviated septum, or enlarged turbinates? These are issues that your your doctor can address. Dr. Mehregan's comment is also right on the mark. Most people who are chronic mouth breathers have jaw structures that aggravates tongue collapse, especially when you're on your back, and especially if you're in deep sleep, due to muscle relaxation.
Avatar n tn Most of the time, I use my mouth to get oxygen. In school, I saw a poster about sleep apnea and i was worried about any problems.
Avatar m tn I have been having chronic problems with post nasal drip and pressure on the bridge of my nose. It's not terribly bothersome, rather annoying. Let me explain what I mean by post nasal drip. I feel like there is constantly mucus stuck in the back of my nose. It isn't really dripping down my throat, rather just sitting in the back of my nose. It feels thick and I often have to snort in order to get it out. It is not discolored, just clear/milky white.
1452978 tn?1285110262 Has anyone had the sinus surgery and it helped the dizziness, off balance, and lightheaded feeling. I am have a deviated septum that is being correct. I am nervous I have never had surgery before but I am praying this takes care of the issues. Could someone please share their experiences with me, my surgery is Thursday. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn If indeed I have sleep apnea, then would you say it is best to treat that before attempting to fix the deviated septum. My deviated septum did not give me any problems until 2 years back when I developed the forward head. Are there any laser septoplasty methods?
Avatar f tn The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Avatar m tn I also had a CT scan done on my sinus area and was told it was clear. I would like to mention that I had deviated septum surgery about five years ago. These issues are really starting to affect my quality of life, and feel I feel hopeless. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
