Avatar f tn Hi, Did you ever find out what was causing your ear issues? I have the exact same thing, deviated septum and ear has pressure/muffled hearing. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have a deviated septum and feeling of a constantly blocked nose, and my head pressure is absuloutely constant and diffuse frontal / forehead region.
Avatar n tn My Dr ordered a CT scan a year ago and said i had a deviated septum and some nasal polyps. I generally take Flonase. About a week ago the allergies and sinuses really got a hold of me and i had horrible sinus pressure, felt really spacey, had ear fullness and pain, felt a little off but no ear infection. I got put on a antibiotic. I then just started the Flonase back up. One day i felt short of breath off and on. I also took a Zyrtec.
Avatar f tn I went to a free clinic and was told that my ears look normal and I had tinnitus and basically to live with it. I went and had a free hearing test and was told that my hearing is perfect, but when they did the test where they put it on the bone behind the ear, there was what he called a gap, indicating something behind the eardrum, I think is what he said.
270554 tn?1289511647 I had tried it and it opened up my eustachian tube and sinuses. right under your eyes are your sinuses. evidently there's a connection from the sinus to the ears. after using several drops though... it felt like it zoom right into my sinuses and cleared it up. Hope this helps.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Inflammation in the nose and sinuses can cause inflammation around the Eustachian tube, which is the tube that runs from the back of the nose to the middle ear and is responsible for draining the middle ear of fluid. If there is Eustachian tube dysfunction from nose or sinus inflammation, fluid can remain in the middle ear which can lead to dizziness and tinnitus. Regards.
Avatar n tn Can one experience "late-phase" allergy symptoms like malaise, fatigue, headaches, Eustachian tube dysfunction etc. without EVER experiencing "early-phase" symptoms like runny nose, itchy eyes etc. ? I do occasionally have a scratchy throat, but this is very seldom. I have been experiencing these "late-phase" symptoms for several months now, and was recently diagnosed (via skin ***** test) with allergic rhinitis to dust mites and pollen.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
Avatar n tn If it is blocked Eustachian tube, then doing a valsalva maneuver (Done by taking a deep breath and blowing while pinching your nostrils and closing your mouth) will help. This will help clear the secretions in the tube that connects the back of your throat with your ear. Chronic sinusitis is often allergic and can be due to mold infection too. A damp wall in the house, carpets, and ACs are all potential sources of mold. Please consult an allergy specialist.
Avatar m tn I'm 41 - been dealing with my Right ear feeling 'clogged' now for over 3 years. I have had tubes put in (2 years ago) for 2 weeks...did nothing. The ENT looks, and says my ear is "clear" - Says could be eustacian tube disorder, etc. Finally, after bouts with Bronchitus and sinus issues over Nov and Dec, went back to my Primary - he referred me to another ENT.
Avatar n tn Hi Jen. Sorry you are having this problem. I know it can take a toll on your quality of life. The sensitivity to loud noises sounds like hyperacusis, which I think is a common symptom of patulous eustachian tube. That's a horse of a different color, so to speak. My problem is that my ET doesn't open and close properly. PET is where the eustachian tube stays open all the time. It can actually make you feel like your ear is clogged, however...
Avatar f tn I have had headache and sinus/ear problems it seems forever. I had a deviated septum surgery done back in the 70's and that did help a bit with draining. But, since the last 10 years I MUST stay away from AC, cold air, fans, drafts, etc. If I have been in any of these for more than 10 minutes, the next day my head feels swollen--the whole head hurts, then it goes into my ears with a terrible ear ache and then down into the sinus cavities.

Avatar f tn Everyone here has deviated septum and had sudden profound hearing loss? Yes?
Avatar f tn I went back to the CT scan radiologist and said does that mean septum is straight as I cant have a deviated septum in 1998 and a central (straight ) septum in 2009. I was told the top Dr at the radiologist (In Australia) will look at the scan and advise me. So does central mean straight? I have had this sinus (icecream type headache) over my eyes and cheeks for about a month now. Sinus tablets and sprays hasnt helped.
Avatar m tn For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left. The question on whether or not you will need to go through the operation would be best suited for your doctor to advise you on.
Avatar m tn My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
Avatar m tn An Otolaryngologist did the surgery after a scan and his exam showed a septum deviated to the point that one side of my nasal passage was pinched off, and I had pockets of fluid, mucous, and who knows what else in my sinus cavities. He said the sinuses were not draining. The surgeon states that the surgery was a success, and I no longer have the odor and can breathe much better. We have not yet done another scan of the cavities, as it has only been 6 months since surgery.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
778528 tn?1253813350 Patulous Eustachian tube, also known as patent Eustachian tube, is the name of a rare physical disorder where the Eustachian tube, which is normally closed, instead stays intermittently open. When this occurs, the patient experiences autophony, the hearing of self-generated sounds. These sounds, such as one's own breathing, voice, and heartbeat, vibrate directly onto the ear drum and can create a "bucket on the head" effect.
Avatar m tn I have a deviated septum. I've been searching on google for a while now and I think my case is one of the most deviated septum ever seen :| And I would like to know if that would be easy to fix it and what would it cost in Canada! And I just uploaded pics on my profile! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Deviated septum cause low oxygen in the body and it may leads to digits clubbing due to low oxygen in the body are this both related deviated septum and low oxygen
Avatar m tn i began to worry about my health i started researching about my problem in the internet and found out that i have deviated septum. but still not 100% sure about it so i also consulted an ENT. it took me almost half of my life to determine the problem in my nose that had altered my life. I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose.
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar n tn Hi All, I have been suffering headaches, scratchy throat, malaise, vertigo and eustachian tube dysfunction for the past 4 months, ever since getting over a bout of Otitis Media. After several rounds of antibiotics and 8 weeks on Veramyst, my symptoms haven't improved. I finally went to an allergist yesterday, and had a postive skin-test for dust mite.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
