I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
I know, I know....bad bad bad. Anyway, I'm just wondering if you ever had surgery to fix it. And did you get the doc who messed it up to fix it? Hope you're feeling much better now.
Snoring by itself indicates a narrowed air passages. Deviated septum may not contribute to snoring. For snoring you could avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks and see if this helps with snoring. Regards.
So, in another word, I have this strip on 24/7 - kinda depending on it till my surgery in September 8th. If anyone had a deviated septum and turbinate reduction done only ? Please write and let me know how long is the recovery time and what I need to do to prepare myself. Is it painful and uncomfortable and if so, for how long? My doctor did not order any Cat Scan for me and I wonder if he thinks it is not that serious for me to do so. Sorry laaz, got little side track.
they are mainly green in color, but sometime a little yellow and bloody. they smell and taste so bad!!! i also suffer from chronic headaches since the surgery. everyone is right on telling you that you need to find a doc that will help you with the pain if you choose to do the surgery. after my surgery, i was sooooo sick and in soooooo much pain. i had the worst headaches for three days. all i can remember is passing out alot from the pain, and that i was praying to die. now thats just sad.
I’m a 28 year old male with acute sinusitis and a deviated septum and my sinus cavities are packed with polyps. When I was younger I had an allergy test done, and I was allergic to a few things, 20 years later, same test I was so allergic to everything they put on me that they had to stop because I swelled up so much. I don’t understand how that could happen that I could be so allergic to so many things in a few years.
I asked the doctor to do a sinus CT and he found the Deviated Septum with mild to moderate blockage right side.
” I went to the doctor and then to an ENT specialist and they said that I have a deviated septum. I was up-front with the doctor about the occasional use of cocaine, but he didn’t seem to think that was the cause of the deviated septum. (I’ve never been hit in the face or had any facial trauma.) But, I’m still convinced that I’ve somehow done some serious damage. What does everyone think? Can someone who’s used cocaine less than 10 times deviate or perforate their septum?
I've been suffering from several symptoms for years, and it seems hard to believe all of them come from a deviated septum. My symptoms are: swollen nose when sleeping (inside part of nostrils, which tends to desappear once I wake up), strong headaches when I wake up and at other times of the day, bleeding nose, rings under the eyes, "dried" irrited eyes. Most of all, I've been suffering from tiredness all these years.
If I rub a finger on my teeth and smell it, it has a strong odor. I don't know if the odor is bad breath (and no one is telling me the truth) or if i have a weird thing growing on my teeth/gums. I brush and floss regularly often 2-3 times a day for brushing (including my gums and tongue) because I have become paranoid about the odor. I have tried Listerine, which seems to only work temporarily. I'm not sure what it may be or if is just my nose. PLEASE HELP!!
When I had those I could smell a foul odor and had bad breath. I had to have surgery for it. I think it was called a deviated septum.
Hi, I am in my mid 30's and I have been dealing with bad breath and sinus problems pretty well all my life. My symptoms are: Thick mucus feeling in the back of my throat causing a constant need for swallowing. This is probably post nasal drip. In worst cases, headaches with pressure in the face and sometime in the jaw (but will not hurt if Dr. tap on it like they normally do for a test). In the very worst episodes, this will even make me feel dizzy.

Ever since then its been an ongoing struggle. I feel as if i have no control of my life, and im constantly thinking of my breathing.

But What I am absolutely and Clearly know is that this is bad breath coming from deep in throat and nose is not something I am imagining. My mother, college friends, co-workers, and other strangers have told me I smell bad. Some even joked, "it smells like the rotten mice I saw in my grandpa's backyard" or "it smells like rotten tomatoe/potatoe." Others say, hold their nose.
Its like i cant get to the bottom of my breath and when exercising it gets so bad i have had to stop. Eating also seems to bring it on worse but generally its there all the time from the minute i get up to the minute i go to bed. I was told by the doctor that i could have reflux disease so went on a series of tests and found out i had. I have now had reflux surgery and the problem is still there just as bad if not worse.

The shortness of breath is from clenching my jaw to one side and because I have a deviated septum as well, I have the sensation of shortness of breath. I am more aware of my bad habits and try and correct them from time to time, which helps. But it is frustrating that when I am anxious like most of the time, I habitually, revert to bad habits. I still see a doctor if any of these symptoms get worse. Physiotheraphy helps with the muscle tension.
