Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.

1554647 tn?1316827220 There is a parallel here in the US, which is the sway held by the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), a voluntary group docs can belong to, who set up and publish diagnostic and treatment guidelines. It is supposed to be the gold standard and the best medicine, but in the world of microbes, nobody told the bugs what the rules are, so they often cheat and don't do what IDSA says they should.
6359077 tn?1441486304 I am not sure about your interpretations of HBV treatment guidelines. Guidelines do vary and change quite frequently. The trend is towards "treat in all cases with non-zero hbvdna" , but there are still conservative approaches. To interpret the guidelines correctly, you must know the phases of the HBV life cycle - Immune Tolerant, Immune Active, Immune Control, and Immune Escape.
Avatar n tn It was most likely a combo test since that is the standard test given in Canada (I live in Canada) All blood tests in Canada are 4th gen and only rapid tests are 3rd gen. I confirmed this with an HIV clinic. Remote areas might not use the 4th gen but in Ontario I would definitely say it was a 4th gen. Your results are conclusive. 12 months is only if you are using antibody only testing. I highly suspect you had a duo/combo test.

505907 tn?1258369340 Bull puckies!!! Though Canada has strict guidelines, there are ways for these pharmaceutical companies to sneak through. After my last drug, Cymbalta, which advertised reduction of chronic pain from depression, put me in the hospital! If there were more pdocs in Canada, I would sure want to shop around for the right one, not just stuck with one, and put up with them who get "courted" by the drug companies.. I like the american system for that.

It started when I just came back from Canada which was Wednesday. It was actually Wednesday afternoon and I felt very depressed (didn't think it was depression cause I just left Canada. I felt naturally sad.) Then at Thursday I went to Dorney Park which is a fun amusement park which COMPLETELY kept my mind off of depression.

The 90 day window period refers strictly to Antibody only tests.
