280234 tn?1532986249 I was wondering if any other young adults have been diagnosed with colon polyps? I'm a 34/f who was recently diagnosed with a 1.1 cm "Tubulovillous adenoma" during a colonoscopy (was seeing blood/mucous in stool for about 6 months). The lab report came back that it was benign, and my GI doctor said follow up with him in 3 years. From what my GI doctor told me, and what I've read about these, they are considered precancerous. Following up in 3 years makes me nervous.
Avatar f tn Hey Sweetie............you are most definitely NOT dying, but you need to let your parents know how scared you are so they can help you. Your symptoms are all very common for anxiety and depression and not a single one of them can harm you in any way. Please talk to your parents or call the doctor who perscribed these meds for you and ask him/her to give you the reassurance they should have given you before you left their office!

Avatar f tn In any given year, about 12 million adults in the United States have depression. Depression cuts across all racial, ethnic and economic divides — no one is immune from the risk of getting depression. Depression typically begins in the late 20s, but it can arise at any age, affecting everyone from young children to older adults. Twice as many women are diagnosed with depression as men, but this may be due in part because women are more likely to seek treatment for depression.
Avatar m tn The good thing about being so young is that your resilliancy has the capability of being higher than most adults. An adolescents will and imagination are tools that can be used to escape extremes that many adults couldn't tackle. The bad thing is when you have noone else to talk to but yourself it is hard to find the right answer. I knew what it was like not to have an escape from the deppression when I was young and I know what it is like as an adult.
Avatar f tn I picked up a prescription for Prozac for my 10 yr old son. He sees a councelor regularly and we just started with a psychiatrist for meds. He was seeing an RN for meds prior to that. He has tried Lexipro, Stratera and Abilify all of which we didn't like. He was crying all the time and didn't know why, panicing/couldn't get him to go to school, etc. The symtoms that were were treating esculated x10. It got really bad so I weaned him off everything.
Avatar f tn s no real proof this is true, they just follow young people more closely than they do adults. Nursegirl is right, you need a different doctor -- if that comment is accurate you're not in the best hands. This is one of the side effects that is most emphasized as one to mention to your prescriber.

Avatar f tn Why do you think your son hates you? Talk to us, a lot of us are parents and some like myself have adult children. Others are young adults who can give you a fresh perspective on how young people view things like this.
Avatar n tn One of the common side effects of antidepressants, more common in young people but also in adults, are violent and suicidal thoughts. Sometimes a particular antidepressant can be very stimulating as well for some people, and Prozac is one known for that. That can increase your anxiety rather than help tamp it down. Much of this typically happens during the early phase of taking the drug and can stop over time, but it can also just be that this is not the proper medication for you.
1662361 tn?1302762372 This actually is pretty common with some of those types of meds with teens and young adults. It could be that they just need to change your med to something different. It could also be that if you depression meds are making your symptoms worse, that is why the anxiety meds are not helping as much as they should - because your other symptoms are increased, it's kinda like they're working against one another.
Avatar f tn I am taking Cymbalta and Welbutrin for depression. These have been controlling it farily well for the past several months. I also take Yaz birth control daily. I just had a period a week and a half ago. I have mood swings, the hot spells, no libido or any kind of drive. The symptoms have grown in intensity in the past couple of weeks. My husband has joked that I am starting menopause....I'm only 26.
Avatar f tn I agree with opus. You need to get many opinions. I think there may be an underlying cause, more physical than mental. I feel this, because your child has always had issues that may have just been blown off as being "late" in development. I don't think any reputable pediatric psychiatrist would not just throw drugs at your child, and they are the most knowlegable when it comes to the effects of doing so.
Avatar n tn You could print out information from the net to show her, too, but I have seen this sort of thing from young adults and they do need to find out for themselves the consequences. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Diabetes runs in our family but no one has gotten it as a child. They have all gotten it as adults. Should I take him to the doctor to get tested.
Avatar n tn I wonder what exactly is wrong with me. I know something is wrong with me but going to a therapist is not an option for me. My parents are religious people who would say something similar to "pray the darkness away" or "you're being ungrateful". I do often feel ungrateful but I seriously think I need some type of help. Therapists are simply too expensive to even consider anyway. I have poor performance in school which started when I entered 5th grade (I think).
