955583 tn?1254259891 first of all, i'm so sorry about the circumstances that led to your contracting herpes. i was traumatized enough after catching herpes from a guy who clearly didn't care about me but i can't imagine all the emotions you're experiencing. depression could be both a side effect of the zovirax or the rape/herpes diagnosis itself. has your doctor prescribed the zovirax episodically (i.e. did he just give you a week's worth of it and then you'll be done)?
Avatar f tn You need to know the clinical symptoms of depression. On the top of this page click Health Information, go down to depression, then click the Information button and then down to Considerations. The list of symptoms is there.
Avatar n tn m now wondering if perhaps my symptoms are due to depression or are perhaps exacerbated because of depression. My question is can depression be a purely physical disease? In other words, can one have depression without feeling 'sad' emotionally? I've always been a happy, optimistic person. I have no other major stressors in my life, aside from my present illness. I'm a 30 y/o male with no history of any serious illness. I'm in good shape and have a good social life.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. These symptoms of headache and mood swings are most likely related to irregularity of menstrual cycle due to hormonal imbalance. Stress is considered an etiological factor in such hormonal disturbances. I would advice you not to avoid too much stress, change is practical phenomenon of life. Additionally, consult a gynecologist to rule out other causes like iron deficiency, folic acid deficiency, polycystic ovary etc. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hi everybody, I have been taking the pill for four months now and I noticed my mood changes a lot lately and most of all I feel so depressed and tired all the time, if anyone could help me because I dont know what to do anymore.

Avatar m tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. Many, many people suffer from depression and it can be difficult to manage/ treat. However, it IS possible to get your depression under control, it sometimes takes a little time and some "trial and error". Your depression is not being managed, and you need to be seen by a psychiatrist who can speak with you, discuss your symptoms and help you find the right treatment for you. Things will get better for you, you just need the right help.
5394463 tn?1367323852 last month I saw a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with severe depression but did not prescribe any medication because he wants to make sure of the diagnosis since I have a history of extreme mood swings and delusions that last few months. since then I've seen him once every week and he also asked a psychologist to evaluate me who suggested I should start anti-depressants as soon as possible to control my symptoms.
Avatar m tn How many of you when you're depressed don't even feel sad at all? When I was at the hospital they told me it was for a depressive episode later after I got out but the psychiatrist told me I didn't have enough criteria for depression before I was told that while I was staying there which I don't know why they would tell me conflicting information like that.

Avatar m tn Most people with Bi Polar, enjoy this part of the disorder, and the downside usually comes with the extreme crash at the end, where they delve into extreme lows, depression, feelings of nothingness and numbness. The low part of the mood, also has symptoms of depression, such as suicidal thoughts, anger, no appetite, or increased appetite, insomnia, inability to care for self, ect. These periods can last for up to minutes, to hours, to many months each.
Avatar n tn Overall, I feel like the thyroid and testosterone issues are kind of like 2 strikes against me as far as mood/depression. I may have to pursue other docs to optimize the Thyroid and T to see if that helps w/o Lexapro or other meds.
Avatar f tn This is a mood disorder when depressive symptoms begin in winter and fade when spring rolls around. Light therapy during winter seems to work well for a lot of people. I would do some reasearch and see a professional counselor/psychologist who will be able to help with treatment options.
1943695 tn?1324041042 Hypothyroidism can cause a cholesterol problem (as well as fatigue, headaches, mood swings, itchy skin, confused thoughts, depression, and many other fun symptoms). My surgeon actually suggested that my untreated hypothyroidism may have caused such a problem with my cholesterol that it lead to my gallstones. (First attack at 22.) I have heard others say part of it is also genetic- if a parent had problems with a gallbladder then their kid might too.
20867265 tn?1552026340 t true bipolar but are just describing the symptoms some get from suffering depression. These categories are usually devised by pharmaceutical companies to sell more drugs. So, yes, it's possible it's a withdrawal symptom, but since you went on the drug for depression in the first place, it could also indicate you never did anything to fix it. Drugs tamp down symptoms, they don't cure this stuff. Therapy might, and might not, but if it does, it's fixed.
2052200 tn?1332429084 I have been diagnosed with depression but I am now becoming concerned that I could have bipolar disorder. I have tried two different antidepressants and both made me experience manic episodes and I had to come off them. I am now on no medication, but I am noticing that I'm experiencing mood swings a lot of the time.
Avatar f tn i was in a psych facility a few years ago for depression and they had me take a test and depression was all they diagnosed me with ...what do i do ...im making my husband crazy at time i just over react ..please help.
Avatar f tn If you have experienced five or more of these symptoms within the same two week period, especially if a depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure are among your symptoms, this could be indicative of an episode of depression. The symptoms should not be accounted for by another illness, drugs of abuse or prescription medications.
Avatar n tn ve never heard of controlling behaviour being part of bipolar disorder. Bipolar is about periods of elevated mood (rage and euphoria) and depressed mood (both of which must be present for a diagnosis) whereas controlling behaviour is more of a stable, non-mood-related thing. I think lilymoon's suggestion is best. A counsellor should be able to provide a safe, fair environment where you both can work out what has gone wrong and what can be done.
Avatar f tn I have been told that my physical symptoms are likely to be due to depression and the lymphocytosis a result of having asthma. I have been taking antidepressants (60mg Duloxetine/ daily - for 12 months), although I stopped taking them 2 months ago as they had no effect on my symptoms. I don't know whether these symptoms are physical or psychological. Can depression cause the physical symptoms i've mentioned above? If so what can I do about it?
