Avatar m tn My husband appears to have Anhedonia depression as a result of answering a questionnaire on depression. He simply gets no pleasure out of live regardless of what he is doing. He also refuses medication, but is willing to go to a class (not counseling) and/or read. What do you suggest? He is 60, and I often find it very depressing to deal with. Help!

Avatar f tn I'm so sorry for all you're enduring. It does sound like you have depression which makes me wonder what the medication is your doctor gave you. If it is an antidepressant then you're on the right track. You should also consider some therapy to help you cope better and determine if this is all a result of losing both parents....which would send anyone into a depression! There are grief counselors who can help you as well.

The meds worked and I definitely wasn't as sad most of the time. So for seven years I've taken meds. More recently I've started to feel, emotionless and even angry (on the inside). Im not suicidal like I was in middle school, but I definitely don't feel good.

1039200 tn?1314912008 To my surprise I was offered a job as a healthcare assistant at a local hospital after passing an interview. I accepted but have since been given a sixteen page in depth medical questionnaire to fill. It asks many specific questions, including ones about medication/mental health - amounts/dates, there is no way to be vague, or play down the symptoms. I also have other health problems and am now worried that they will turn around and say I am not suitable for the job.

Basically if it is physically affecting you) 3.) Like Kay said, letting oneself go. losing interest in things, not caring for oneself, not bathing, general attitude of everything is pointless. Avatar f tn T4 serum levels show normal (which do not indicate cellular thyroid function) Before this you may want to consider doing an adrenal questionnaire as a screening tool, which I can send you if interested,in the event you have not already done this. Thyroid dysfunction cannot be corrected before adrenal dysfunction is addressed-something conventional medical doctors do not normally pursue -as both adrenal and thyroid function get further impaired!
Avatar m tn I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.
