Avatar f tn Depends on your md but zoloft and wellbutrin( no clue how to spell that) are frequently prescribed to pregnant women. Also depends on how severe the depression is a risks vs benefits thing. As far as anxiety not really sometimes anti depressants help. My md said take benadryl, it doesn't make you less anxious but makes you sleepy...

But I think if she talks to her doctor about it, they can best guide her. It will be important to monitor her during and after pregnancy.

Avatar f tn You need to get a different Doctors. It's your body & there are anti-depressants that are safe for baby while you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Avatar f tn I suffer from depression and anxiety, as soon as I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking all my medications. I was doing ok the first few weeks I am now 14 weeks 6days and my depression is getting bad again. I was told that the dr can put me on a low dosage of depressant meds but I dont want it to affect the baby in any way. Is anyone else suffering from this problem?
Avatar f tn I'm planning on going back onto medication for depression and anxiety as it's got much worse since being pregnant. I think after your first trimester any defects people claim pills can cause are massively decreased because your baby is developed much more. Just go through all options with your doctor first and any cons of pills you may take. Ask to see a counsellor as well as that may help as well.

Avatar m tn In any case, my spouse has stopped taken celexa and because we are trying to get pregnant. It was suggested for her not to take a medication as such during a pregnancy period. She did consider a natural medication to help with the depression (ie St. John's Wort) but to my knowledge is not taking anything at this time. Are there any suggestions to help her through this? Should she stay away from commercial medications? Is there a common or less common alternative? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn Seems this is an off-label indication, and doctors use it based on experience As for your question about decreasing chances to get pregnant, I have no idea about that, but I can tell you that seroquel is in category C of risk for pregnant women. As per FDA, this means: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available.
Avatar f tn Category B Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Category C Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
