Oh no no no! You don't want to play doctor with this for a bunch of reasons. For one, you're talking about two totally different meds. Paxil is an antidepressant, and Xanax is a benzodiazepine. They cannot "replace" one another, they do totally different things.
Do you not have a refill of the Paxil? If not, you need to contact your doc ASAP and obtain at least enough of the Paxil to get to into see your doc for a refill. Stopping Paxil abruptly can be a nightmare.
I am currently looking for a new depression medication. I need some info on something that is NOT a SSRI, a hormone, and is not zoloft, celexa, or prozac......also something that does not contain salicylic acid aka aspirin. If anyone can help I would appreciate the help.
He was very good and after a couple of meetings he prescribed me with medication for what he called a chemical imbalance in my brain that caused depression. The meds worked and I definitely wasn't as sad most of the time. So for seven years I've taken meds. More recently I've started to feel, emotionless and even angry (on the inside). Im not suicidal like I was in middle school, but I definitely don't feel good.

It depends on which medication, there are some that are safe. Ive been having issues with it, because ive already taken all the ones that are safe at one point and there are very few that are safe.

does anyone know anything about celexa? for depression I have been on wellbution 300 mg lexapro paxil ... i can't find anything that continues to work for my depression. It seems to work for a little while and then stops. Or maybe it's just me? my diagnosis is bipolar 2 although sometimes I think it's bipolar1 with depression. I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.

First of I just want to say thank you to any one in advance who may leave a response to this post. I've been struggling with bad depression and I keep cycling fro one medication to another, not because the aren't working but, because I seem to really struggle with the physical side effects, The main problems are of course drowsiness, sexual dis-function, and constipation.

One week ago my Dr changed my medication. I was taking 150mg of Wellbutrin and 8mg of Zanax a day. I have been on this medicine for about 10 years starting out at a much lower dosage. I DO NOT suffer from depression as I have told my Dr. I have built up immunity to these drugs and he switched me to 30mg Paxil, and 1mg Klonopin.
Actually feelings of guilt can be part of depression. You made some mistakes and you are right to be concerned and seek help. Suicide is not courageous. Don't even think about it. Seeking help is the right thing to do. Speak to your psychiatrist about the fact that the medication you take isn't helping you as much as it should and they can decide what to do from there.
