Avatar f tn I am current taking 25mcg Cytomel daily in attempt to help with my depression, I had blood taken from my OBGYN this week b/c I was complaining of constant hot flashes and sweating so she wanted to check my hormone levels...my T4 free was 0.32, she has referred me to an endocrinologist. I tried telling her med tech that I was on Cytomel and asked if that would be why it was low but I was just told to see the specialist. I placed a call to my psychiatrist to ask him and still have not heard back.

Avatar m tn The unbound (free) portion is the active part of thyroid hormone. This is referred to as free T3 and free T4 (FT3 and FT4). Free T3 is most important because it is four times as active as FT4, plus FT3 correlates best with hypo symptoms.

Avatar m tn I was a bit disturbed though that the doctor pushed for her to simultaneously see a psychiatrist about depression medication. He said that not having periods can be from anxiety and depression. My daughter was crying at the appointment because she had talked to her friend's mom about thyroid issues and was hoping to walk out of the appointment with a trial run of thyroid medication. Her friend's mom had told her that within a couple of days of being on the medication she felt great.
Avatar n tn If the depression is severe as you say the first thing any medical professional should be looking at is her Free T3 levels with some Vit B and D and magnesium testing Me - with no thyroid left either - not from cancer - but RAI. I was a walking sad - zombie and horrible with depression and panic until my Free t3 level was raised to the maximum on the reference scale of labs. I was horribly addicted to the Xanax and taking them like candy - per doctors order.

Exercise is great for lifting depression. So is eating more veggies! Have your folate levels checked. Eat foods rich in folate - like asparagus etc. Higher folate levels help defeat depression. Stay away from concentrated sweets - candies, cookies, cakes etc.
Avatar f tn Congrats to you! That is so awesome! I am currently on day 3, and have been reading some of your posts. To hear you say that you feel like an entirely different person is so encouraging to me, as i am still going through the physical withdrawals, and the depression/feeling very upset has set in today. Congrats again!!
Avatar f tn ve felt much better in recent years with help from my church family. Many churches offer free counseling that really helps. Reading my Bible and the Psalms helps me many times. Praying keeps me grounded and knowing God is in control helps my anxiety to go away. I know it's so hard, but please reach out. People care about you and wouldn't want you to suffer alone. Long term depression can really benefit from meds and counseling.
Avatar f tn I'm 18 and am wondering where I can find help or someone to talk to other than my mother about my depression. I'm not doing well in school( I'm lazy and sleep during most of it) and I don't have any friends.I have been this way since I was 12 and I have a bad feeling that this is just going to get worst later on in my life. Does anyone have any advice?
1598952 tn?1310396178 Depression is quite possible, but I recommend you visiting psychiatrist. That`s the only way you might know for sure. If it is depression, you have to get help. It`s the only way out. Even if it`s not, you should go. Sometimes it`s necessary to talk to someone neutral to help us to go trough some things, and to give us advise how to handle some changes in our life without major difficulties. Do you have problems telling your parents or friends?

Avatar f tn I know hospitals offer free ones. Talking it out with others who have also lost a loved one may help you move on. And do consider seeing a therapist if your doctor recommends it. Talking through not just the loss but how the pacemaker and the loss are affecting how you feel about yourself and life may help you move past this. Depression isn't easy so be gentle with yourself.
Avatar n tn Hello Doctor, what would be the best way to combat free-floating anxiety? Im a 29 year-old man and about half the time I feel as I have drank 10 cups of coffee. I don't have panic attacks (I have had them in the past so I know what they feel like), but just overwhelming anxiety that lasts for days on end. Im not anxious about anything really, it just feels as my body is revved up, esp in the mornings. Its really effecting my work and social life.
