Avatar f tn Pseudo-Cushing's is a very rare diagnosis in the scheme of Cushing's and is caused by alcholism or severe depression - as in you have been hospitalized for depression type of depression. It gets confusing as Cushing's itself causes depression and the name itself is rather... bad... so I have run across doctors that will say a person has it meaning it is NOT REAL which is in error as it is a real form of the disease. 1037594 tn?1258562179 Have any of you read the information regarding our life clock being sped up by the Hippocampus of the brain and how the Hippocampus becomes an assasign of sorts causing heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and others that I cannot recall at this time. Reading several articles that basically stated the same thing made me think about those poor children that age prematurely and if there was some sort of connection between the two on basic level.
396099 tn?1216254986 But new research shows that stopping drinking -- including at moderate levels -- may lead to health problems including depression and a reduced capacity of the brain to produce new neurons, a process called neurogenesis. The findings from the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill appear online in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology.
Avatar n tn There is a focal 5 mm focus of T2/FLAIR hyperintensity in the mesial right temporal lobe just superior to the right hippocampus. The hippocampi are symmetric and demonstrate normal signal intensity. .... IMPRESSION There is a 5 mm focus of increased T2 signal intensity in the mesial right temporal lobe of uncertain etiology and significance. This is located superior to the right hippocampus. Correlate with EEG findings. Further evaluation with contrast enhancement recommended.
Avatar m tn Damage to certain brain areas can also lead to depression, which often causes significant fatigue. Vitamin deficiencies, such as vitamin B12 deficiency and others, can also lead to symptoms of fatigue, tingling, and numbness.
Avatar f tn Otherwise unremarkable except for the following “coronal images demonstrate a slightly increased signal intensity in the left hippocampus compared to the right.

Avatar f tn Dilated perivascular spaces are present within the substantia innominata on the basis of normal anatomic variation. The right hippocampus appears smaller that the left as best seen on previous coronal images. There is no evidence of cerebral mass, mass effect, ferromagnetic blood products, increasted diffusion-weighted signal or extracerebral collection. 1. No interval change 2. The right hippocampus appears small which is likely on a atrophic basis Feedback anone? Please??
Avatar n tn I can feel EMF through walls. It causes heart arrithmia, internal bleeding, bowl problems, bladder problems, vascular edema.... What can be done for me? I can feel CB radio's from trucks when they transmit. What can be done for me???
Avatar m tn Hi there! The report describes: 1. Dead tissue (infarct) in a part of the brainstem (right paramedian pons) possibly secondary to reduced blood supply. 2. Scarring (gliosis) present in another part of the brain (left frontal region). 3. A small fluid filled cavity is noted in a different part of the brain (hippocampus). Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn m suffering from insomnia and my eyesight has gotten progressively worse, especially this last year. Is there a possible connection between a thyroid disorder and deterioration of eyesight? Avatar m tn can taking xanax for 30 years cause depression over the years of taking it?
Avatar n tn Can you view the size of the hippocampus and the amygdala on a CT scan withOUT contrast? I was inspecting my CT scan and I think I discovered the hippocampi. My hippocampi is extremely huge, while my amygdala was very small- smaller than the average person's amygdala.
Avatar n tn I've been experiencing "crossed eyes" for over 2 weeks. Causes slight headache but when driving, almost panic attack feeling. Eye doc said it was dry eyes but drops provided have not helped. Need new bifocals as it has been 2 years. But, similar symptoms found for aortic aneurism, tumor and heart issues have me scared..
Avatar m tn The rest of the hippocampal formation is within normal limits. Differential diagnosis includes right hippocampus edema versus questionable early hippocampal sclerosis. Clinical EEF correlation is recommended. If clinically indicated, follow up MRI study in 6 months is suggested. Medications prescribed prior to the MRI: Tripletail 300 MG/5ML ORAL I have decided not to give my child any medication until further studies are conducted and I am 100% sure this is the best choice for my son.
Avatar m tn Even better, the walnut diets seemed to activate a process called autophagy, which the researchers described as “a neuronal housekeeping function,” in the striatum and hippocampus areas of the brain. This process was more profound in the hippocampus, though, which is the region of the brain involved in memory and cognitive performance. The discovery of the autophagy in the walnut-eating groups was particularly exciting because as we age, this process slows down.
Avatar n tn m having depression/anxiety issues after alcohol abuse) but maybe someone here might also know something about this. I know no one here knows this for sure, and maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on here but thought I would put it out there. I am just wondering if anyone here has ever asked their doctor or qualified professional if it is possible to run out of neurotransmitters whether it be naturally or from substance abuse. I'm a young male (24) and abused alcoholfor 5-6 years.

Avatar m tn You should contact your local dental society to find a free clinic that provides dental services. If its severe enough, you may need to go to the ER and get antibiotics and pain medications.
Avatar m tn PN may refer to Peripheral Neuropathy or degeneration of peripheral nerves which could occur secondary to trauma, metabolic causes, nutrient deficiencies, medication side effect etc or due to unknown reasons. You could read more about the condition online. Hope this information is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn The mood effects of antidepressants is NOT due to serotonin, but rather to the branch pattern of dendrites in the hippocampus, a part of the brain involved in mood and memory. Many people have an initial dysphoric response to the serotonin that comes from the early effects of SSRIs; the mood effects can't occur for about 4 weeks, and most people discontinue SSRIs long before getting to their therapeutic effects.
620923 tn?1452915648 The gradual deterioration of the disc between the vertebrae is referred to as Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD). What causes the gradual deterioration? As people age, the composition of the cartilage of the body changes, resulting in thinner and more fragile cartilage. The changes cause the discs and joints that stack the vertebrae (also known as facet joints) to wear and tear over time. Degeneration of the disc in Degenerative Disc Disease is also referred to as spondylosis.
