Depo provera night sweats

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera night sweats

depo-provera

i am on it and experience the night sweats as well....
i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.
I had only taken one depo provera shot and was due to have my second one between June 30 and July 13, I didn't take the second one. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex July 2nd-5th every day. Is it possible that I'm pregnant? I have had slight bleeding almost every day since but it recently stopped, it was just like spotting, not a flow, only a tinge of color when wiping. I am having many symptoms of pregnancy (nausea, extreme fatigue, headaches, bleeding gums, etc).
I was on depo for 1 year. (I'm 25 now, 23 at the depo time) I gained 50 pounds, had terrible mood swings, depression, bone loss, fatigue and some minor other problems. I suffer from knee/joint pain now because depo causes you to loose calcium in your bones. If you choose to go with it, make sure you start a calcuim supplament right away. I honestly would suggest researching into any drug before you commit to it. Some people I know have had really good luck with it.
I have been taking the Depo-Provera shot for over a year now. I am a 33 year old. I have 2 children, 10 years old and 7 years old, and have hot flashes during the day, and worse at night, along with cold sweats. The reason the doctor insisted on the depo was because of maternal family history of estrogen-fed breast cancer. My question is whether the depo shot is inducing menopause hot flashes, or do I need to be concerned about other things, such as cancer.
I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
I have really bad nausea, hot flashes, not able to sleep good when i do fall asleep i cannot stay asleep the whole night i wake up off and on, i have night sweats my whole body will sweat especially around my neck and chest area. I sometimes have an appetite and then sometimes i dont. I am sensitive to smells and get nauseous and get very weak. I get dizzy when I stand for a few seconds and then it goes away. Some days i am ok and some days are horrible.
I had horrible dreams, night sweats, just absolutely terrible fight or flight anxiety over nothing, I couldn't sleep ... I didn't get my period for 13 months! after ONE shot! when I DID get it, it was HORRIBLE! I hurt like crazy in my lower belly for like 3 days before it came, and when it did, it was so heavy i had to change my pad every 45 minutes or so. I had it for 11 days ... it never let up. it hurt so bad I could barely get up and move around. I had to sleep on sheet protectors.
I began noticing severe menopausal symptoms about three months after I cycled off of my preferred birth control method Depo Provera. When I finally looked online to find out what was wrong with me (no period for 6 months, difficulty sleeping, incredible hot flashes and night sweats, excessive weight gain, a lot of crying, etc.) menopause kept coming up as one of the possible causes. After extensive testing at my doctor’s office I was told I was menopausal.
For me, the hot flashes were AWEFUL! I had at LEAST 5 a day and at LEAST 3 night sweats every night. My last shot was March 5 and I still have no period, still no baby, and still hot flashes. Not as bad as when I was on treatment, but they are still there. My husband and I never used any protection ever since we've been together, about 10 years. And no babies. When I was little, if someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I ALWAYS answered, "a mommy.
I have been on that for 3 weeks now and I have been bleeding so heavy the last 2 weeks and I am having the worse night sweats ever, I wake up thinking I wet the bed because my entire body is drenched in sweat. I am at a loss. I dont know what to do. I seriously cannot handle this anymore, the hormones make me moody, angry, I cry over everything and everything, and my poor boyfriend (who is amazing with all of this by the way) gets the brunt of it.
Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
If you are taking depo-provera i would seriously recommend you stop using this asap. I had the same symptoms as yourself and was diagnosed with depression, i wasn't depressed it was the side effects of the depo -provera. Also if you do ever plan on having kids it could take up to years after coming off of this pill for your body to regulate. I regret ever taking this for of contraception as my body is still completely messed up. Hope this helps!!
31 and have been noticing that my pelvic pain, cramps, painful intercourse, and low back aches are returning. Now on top of that I've recently experience night sweats every night, and bouts of hot flashes and cold chills. The night sweats could be due to having the furnace on but my husband doesn't wake all sweaty so I'm not sure about that theory. I wake up and my clothes are soaked and I'm freezing from the sweat evaporating off my body.
brown periods lasting a week, leg weakness(feels like growing pains), cramping, sharp abdominal pain on and off, hot and cold sweats. I took the depo provera shot the beginning of January and didn't have my period for four months. When I finally got my period it lasted exactly two weeks, started out being all brown blood and continued into regular blood. Through out the time I have had the worst sharp pains bringing me to my knees because it hurt so bad but only for a few seconds.

about 2 weeks before i normally start i get UGLY, sore nipples(never before) nausious, extremely tired, starting early if not late, severe headaches, i may spot several days before i start, going longer, stopping and starting.... most of these started 4-5 months ago...i've had night sweats for a long time(years) and hot flashes(thought that it was dep. medi.).
I had problems kind of like what you are describing before. 6 months after I got off Depo Provera, I felt pregnant, I wasn't getting my period, I was nauseous , vomitting, the smell of food would make me sick (and I have all that stuff again but this time I am 22 weeks pregnant) anyways all my doctors thought I was pregnant also. I had cat scans done, and it showed I had a cyst on my ovary and that my liver enzymes were a little high.
sumpin about wd and menopause exacerbates each other/or even if u r not in menopause cos i am not/on depo provera/..i had the sweats worse when i was using than after i quit..the 3-4 day patches/estrogen have virtually eliminated it...
Remember doctors are humans too, and sometimes they forget that we are not doctors, and cannot afford some of these costly procedures, especially if they are not needed. I was on Lupron-Depo and Depo-Provera, Lupron is like a pseudo-menopause, some (not all cause we are all different) have night sweats, mood-changes etc. I did not notice such problems and Lupron worked short term for me. However longer term I was on Depo-Provera. It work fine.
My left breast continued to get larger so I called my family doctor back and asked if the fact that I had been on Depo Provera for 10 years could be the problem. He told me to see my OB/GYN. He said that because I had gained 10 lbs that could cause my left breast to get larger. (But yet the right stayed the same size?) He suggested getting off the Depo, and I transitioned to Mirena.
I had the hot flashes and night sweats. plus one of the side effects was headaches. I got such a bad migrain headache I was rushed to the hospital because it looked like I was having a stroke. Nothing seemed to work and I didn't get much relief. I was even taking two birth controls everyother week to try to get the bleeding to stop. Cause after my daughter my problems didn't go away or get better they got worse.
He put me in a menopausal state before the last surgery to slow the endo growth; however, I started having night sweats and hot flashes. Now I am on estrogen to reduce the menopausal symptoms, but I am bleeding again and having INTENSE endo pain. My doctor doesn't seem to have a better treatment plan except narcotics and surgery and repeat. Does anyone have ANY suggestions so that I can lead a somewhat functioning life???
After the first daughter I suffored from secondary infertility and had 6 miscarriages. I was on depo provera for 3 cycles coming off of the depo back last August. In December I started having severe lower back pain. In February it became unbearable so I went to my GP. They did an ultrasound and found that I had a 2 cm ovarian cyst. My GP then sent me to my GYN. The GYN put me on 3 months of birthcontrol pills. Last month my dh and I decided to try for another child. Well...
severe pms/pmdd. Cramps 2 weeks before period and so painful they wake me up at night. Passing large clots during menstruation. Bloating, gas, loud bowel sounds (and embarassing at times). Extremely painful ovulation. Constant lower back ache that gets worse around periods. Nausea. Fatigue. Painful intercourse. Night sweats on occasion, and my breasts produce a colostrum-like substance especially right before my period. I had a tubal after my last child - 12 years ago.
Second was the Depo-Provera shot, and third was the Lupron Depot shot. She's wanting to lean to the Lupron. I'm so confused. This endo thing sucks, and knowing that I'm going to have to deal with it for the rest of my life sucks more. Plus, while I never was gung-ho to have children, now the option has pretty much been taken away. I didn't even know I had endo..... The endometrial cyst rupturing and spilling endo everywhere is what made me go to a gyn in the first place.
I've never done Depo Provera but I have a friend who's using it with great success. She's a couple of years older than me and it's kept her from having to have a complete hysterectomy. Her endo isn't as bad as mine though. The last endometrioma I had removed was the size of a soft-ball and it was inside my ovary.
But I have also entered into menopause, experiencing night sweats, hot flashes,(hence my nickname), etc. I once found a website-then lost it-(another menopause symptom!) that mentioned the increased relevance of hives to pre-menstrual girls and menopausal women. Something about the body changing and fighting itself. My Dr. first prescribed Allegra 180 which stopped the hives for a few weeks but they came back. She changed the prescription to Allegra 60 so I could take them 3 times a day.
