Depo provera injection schedule

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera injection schedule

depo-provera

I went off depo provera after 2 shots in January. I was supposed to get my injection mid-January but didn't. Now I'm having nausea every day - almost all day long - fatigue, and sleepiness. Mid-March, I had some spotting just for a couple of days, followed by SEVERE breast swelling and pain. Then I had what seemed to be a normal period two weeks ago (5 days long, not very heavy, no cramping).
Hi there, depo vera is injected every 12 weeks while the contraceptive has the power to prevent conception up to 14 weeks, the injections are usually given every 12 weeks to ensure that there is no gap in the effectiveness of the birth control between shots. If such a schedule is maintained, pregnancy while on depo-provera is extremely rare. Since your girlfriend was not on taking it regularly there might have been a period when she had sex while not on depo.
Oh, and just as an after thought, I've also had the implant in my arm which did exactly the same as the flipping injection so avoid that aswell if you've had problems with the depo injection.
What you listed describes what I feel exactly. I used to be an incredibly happy, bubbly person, and these mood swings are killing me! I really like the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill, it's not that I mind pills at all, but my schedule as a college student varies so much it's hard to find a time to take it consistently. If I had a steady schedule where I could take a pill every day at the same time, I would much rather do that than have an injection.
I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
I was on the depo injection for a year everything was fine, till I've come off it dec 4th as I missed my appointment that day to get the next injection I started bleeding that day and haven't stopped and its been months is that normal???
Im a 17 year old girl who has been sexually active for over a year now, I was put on the depo provera injection 6 months ago but came off it last month because I started bleeding during sex. And now after being off it for a month, still am bleeding during sex. It is not alot of blood but still enough to be extreemly annoying and embarrassing. I have gone to many different docters about this but none have given me an answer to why this may be hapening? And what i can do to stop it.
No I am definitely not trying to get pregnant. I had one depo provera injection in November and the side effects were terrible so I haven't been back since. My period has only been back 2-3 months and I haven't found a contraceptive that agrees with my body and I've been practicing safe sex. I'm worried because I know that condoms aren't 100% safe.
i was on the depo provera shot for 9 months, i have gone of it now for 3 months approx. i have missed 2 afs and i am getting some pain discomfort in lower part of stomach. i have tender breasts that hurt more when i take of my bra. i have no discharge, or any other symptons. i have an ingrown hair on my pubic hair line and i am unsure if this could be causing mu discomfort in my lower stomach. any advice would be appreciated. and i have been to the doctor.
I was on the depo injection for about 6 months then was due to have it again in Feb 2000. I didn't go back for it as was ttc so next had af July and August that year. I conceived in the September and now have a gorgous 5 year old DD. I went back on the injection a few years later in 2004 - was due to go back to have it in May 2004 and fell preg in Jan 2005.
My LMP was January 1 2006, I was on depo-provera a while back (Dec 2004 was my last injection) and I just started getting my menses (on time) again in august...I haven't been using any birth control since then....and obviously I'm now extremely late and annoyed.....I've taken so many HPT and they're all negative...I had nausea bad about 4 weeks ago and the only other symptom related to pregnancy I have now is I'm real tired all the time....
A bit like Clareol, but not. I used to have irregular periods and was on depo provera injection up until about 2 years ago. My last period was 16th October, for a week (normal time and duration), not had one since. I have many of the early pregnancy symptoms; nausea (on and off throughout day), running to the toilet more often (5 times today already and it only 11.
i have noticed this problem for at least a couple of years and initially my doctor thought it was because i was in depo provera and had abnormal bleeding all the time. i have been on the pill for over 7 months and my periods are back to normal except after this occurrence following orgasm. in april i had an abnormal pap smear that indicated i had HGSIL (high-grade intraepithelial lesions) of the cervix.
Never had one problem with it. Now, I can't seem to do anything to get my period back. I was prescribed provera which makes the lining in your uterus shed, FORCING you to have a period. It didn't work. I have a child, but I am horribly concerned that I will not be able to have another one in the future. I am not on ANY medications/prescriptions. I do not use drugs and only drink alcohol on occasion (once a month...about two mixed drinks).
I had to have an abdominal laparoscopy done to remove the cysts, because they were large. My OBGYN told me that if I didnt want anymore cysts to get on the depo provera shot. so I started taking the shot and I have not had one cyst that I know of since. I have a pelvic ultrasound done every 6 months to check for them and the ultrasound is always negative.
By April, I stopped taking the vitex (chasteberry) and decided to contact my ob/gyn to inquire about starting clomid. I took provera to start my period and then tried 50 mg of clomid. I hoped I was pregnant, but my bbt did not show more than 3 days of a higher temperature, and by CD 38 I still had not had a period, and pregnancy test came back negative.
I did need an HCG injection to make me ovulate because I was not ovulating on my own. My morning sickness was pretty much 24/7 and it seems to have eased a little. What seemed to help me was to have a little something in my stomach, because if it was empty that was when I felt the worst. On my post a few weeks ago I was asking about HCG numbers and could they be just high and still have a singleton pregnancy? Turns out I am having TWINS. Whoops! Didn't think that would happen to me.
stress, dieting, excessive exercise, hormonal imbalance, long term use of the pill or depo-provera injection, eating disorders, POS, tumors on the ovaries.....the list goes on and on. Some of these can be corrected through lifestyle changes (don't diet, don't exercise as much, find ways to relieve stress, etc) and others require medical attention. If you're concerned that you're having anovulatory cycles and don't know why, then I would definitely schedule an appt w/ your doc.
I was previously told my reason for having no periods was because I had been on the depo injection and it could take a long time for it to come out of my system. I was given the contraceptive pill and told to take it and hopefully it will create a false period and over time expell all the fluid in my uterus. It did work after about 6 months.
In November I had the depo provera shot. I didn't have my period for 2 weeks and then it came and has not stopped. It's now 3 days until August. I have a doctor appt. for the 1st and that was the soonest I can be seen. I want it to go away. I'm scared it won't. I think I'm getting anemic and that might explain some of my severe exhaustion etc. But it's been 8monthes almost 9. Know one told me this was a possible side effect.
I'm hoping for some good info here. I'm currently in Japan and had to have a d and c b/c of mmc at 8 weeks. I can barely understand my doc and he can barely understand me. I bled for about a week after the d and c and then had constant spotting for 2 weeks. At which time I felt like my uterus was hard and rigid. I went to the doc and he said it was infected and I took anitbiotics.
I admit I'm still wrapping my head around it because you hear a new pill being advertised on tv every day but then a class action lawsuit five years later. I myself took depo provera and that was a big mistake. Still, Wilko1956 wants to do it and it's worth a try. The good news his liver can't get any worse as explained by the doctor so I'm hoping the betting the only way now is up! Thanks meNtoby!
Clomid helps you produce follicles but it doesn't guarentee ovulation. I have to be given an HCG injection when the follicles are ready to guarentee ovulation. I will be on 150 mg of Clomid this cycle. I have been on it for 6 cycles or so... with a couple breaks in between because of hyperstimulation (I was not being monitered at this time and the follicle grew so huge and didn't release). I'm hoping that this 150 mg will work count days 3-7 as well.
I also took clomid 50mg last month and never ovulated, so the cycle was a bust and the doctor prescribed provera again casue it could be some time before i get my period. He upped my dosage to 100mg and i'm on day 3 today of clomind. I'm basically taking clomid cd 2-6 as the specialist wanted and then he will start monitoring me on CD 9. I'm also getting IUI done so hopefully tis would help but if I don't ovulate then this cycle would be a bust also. I'm crossing my fingers as well.
I am going to schedule a physical and ask that they do COMPLETE bloodwork. I am also overweight but I have been a lot heavier (20 times heavier) in KS with no problems so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I am also stressed and kind of depressed cause my husband is in Iraq. But like I said, in KS I was fine......
Massive doses of birth control pills (which we don't want, because of all the side effects), or to take provera, which is a hormone. We chose the provera. Last night I took the last pill... I was told to take it for 5 days and then I should start my period again. She said if this period lasts longer than 2 weeks to come back. I haven't started up again yet, but it hasn't even been 24 hours since my last dose. So hopefully this turns out well.
I was on the depo provera shot for a little over 13 years with no periods. I have been off of the shot since October 2006. In January, my periods started back, however, I have bright red blood frequently, and almost always HUGE blood clots. Sometimes I can feel myself pushing them out. My period has been on since January, with the exception of maybe two to three weeks. I am afraid that I am or will be anemic or worse soon if the bleeding doesn't stop.
Hello I am needing help and hope someone can help I took depo provera one shot last oct 5th 2009 did not go back it caused me to gain some weight and lost my periods from nov 2009 to march 2010 then ive had a period every monh from april to aug and had no problems it came every month on time and lasted 4 or 5 days then this month i did not have a period and had some lower stomach pains been nauseated loss of sleep cranky but im am 10,days late went and had ablood test it says im not preg what co

I plan to keep taking the hpt's once a week for the next couple of weeks and just wait it out until I can know for sure. I just wanted to follow up with you guys to see how things are turning out for you since we seem to be in very similar situations. If you get a chance please post an update. My significant other and I weren't planning for this but we would be extremely excited if it turned out that I was pregnant.
