Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera how long does it take to work

depo is suppose to take a while to come out of your system well it doesn't always take that long. they can never really explain it to you. Everyone is differnt but if there was every a law suit against depo I would sign on the dotted line in a heartbeat. I also have a friend who had way more complications then me on depo so really look into really, really well. Good luck choosing the correct contiseptive for you.
In July I had the same bleeding but the spotting didn't last as long and would only happen after intercourse. I am not going to take the shot and I was wondering how long would it for me to be able to concieve after only one shot. It is only the second day after my scheduled shot but it seems like by body is starting to feel funny. This too has consumed my life, and I see no end to it all since it took so long to diagnose but the damage was done to my bladder, ureters and bowels. So I am always in pain with those areas. It ***** not going to lie but I was glad I researched and found the best surgeon for my first surgery as I have read and met women with horror stories of having 24+ surgeries because of the lack of skill of surgeons. Its a nightmare and the awareness has to be out there in order for things to change.
) BUT, it has vastly altered many aspects of my health and if you were a friend or relative, I would STRONGLY suggest that you NOT take the chance that it does to you what it has done to me and to so many other women, many of whom have experienced side effects after the very first shot.
I am in a group where all the women are trying to conceive after the depo provera. Many have been trying to conceive for years, and no luck. And it seems like those who do conceive have miscarriages soon after. Its like 80% of the women who get pg have a miscarriage. Is this linked to the depo? Age? Im 22 and am trying to conceive #2. (my son is 6 now) I am so scared that it might happen to me.
hi, I have just started provera to induce my period.
) but it doesnt take long ... just a while for it to get back to normal .

I believe that the depo has had an affect on my thyroid and I want to stop taking it as I feel it may have a "reverse affect" - but after reading all your notes - I"m not sure what to think. Muscle pain, joint inflamation etc. was diagnosed by one doctor as Fibromyalgia - which in context of my family history could be true - but the massive weight gain must have it's own answer.
this is my 1 time getting depo and my period has ben on for all most a 10 days...i have look up how long it pose to be on but no help...also i got my shot when i was on my period dose that have any thing to do with it....
While the depo may not be a direct cause, it could have some bearing on it. You need to ask your doctor for some simple blood work to test thyroid function. the tests you need are Free T4, Free T3 and TSH. Don't just settle for the TSH that most doctors want to order and be done with it. TSH is a pituitary hormone and does not provide the full picture. FT3 and FT4 are actual thyroid hormones, so they will tell you what the thyroid is actually producing.
My doctor recomended the Pill first but after not being able to remember to take it due to my active schedule he told me about depo Provera. I started it and immediately loved it because i had no period at all after 3 months. It's brownish/red and a pretty decent flow. We'll see how long it lasts. If it seems to be a problem I'll comment again, otherwise it usually just lasts about 3-5 days. Overall, I have yet to want to go off the shot and I'm pretty happy with it.
After stoppage of depo-Provera one can become pregnant as soon as three to four months after the last shot. It varies women to women. It may take some women up to a year or two to conceive once they stop using depovera. It does not depend on how long you have been using depovera. If you do not get your periods according to the stipulated time it will be best to consult a gynecologist. Do keep us posted. Take care and regards!
Usually doctors want to make sure you aren't pregnant before taking it as it has been associated with birth defects, but on the other hand, I've read that the used to prescribe PRovera to women a long time ago to try to reduce chances of miscarriage, but later found out it wasn't nec. good for pregnancy afterall. IF you are charting, YOu won't really be able to tell if you're pregnant now unless you take a pg. test.
We need to keep in mind that this is our first round and it may take a bit for our bodies to get use to the hormone. At least we now have help. I believe that we should keep the internet searching to a minimum and keep connected with people like ourselves through this site for support and to hear others personal experiences. I hope that I have somewhat helped you with my long long response lol. It all comes from my heart. Because my heart goes out to everyone trying to conceive.

No AF!!! how long does it take once you get your IUI done for you to know if you are prego? I know someone who just had IVF done on April 6th and was told she can test on the 19th. So that is 13 days. It takes time to implant, correct? So if you haven't started yet, then hopefully you are prego!! Please do keep us all posted on here, I am anxious to hear what happens!! I really appreciate the support and luck you are sending my way! Thank you again! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

actually, i just realized by typing this that i was on the pill and patch when i was a teenager due to very long periods. maybe that has something to do with it? i will research that, but does any1 know?
also the reason i got off is b/c my obgyn told me (only after i asked if it was true b/c a friend had told me this and it happened to her) if you take depo for a long time it has made some women become sterile and not be able to have kids and then usualluy it takes a long to conceive after you get off. sometimes it takes a year or so.
