1310814 tn?1310654901 I'm new here, was wondering if anyone else has had DEPO (provera) Birth Control injections, and now TTC? I was on it for 10 years, and have heard/read horror stories of the difficulty of TTC afterwards..(I did not have AF at all during those 10 years) ~ I'm curious if anyone has any positive success stories. I stopped taking DEPO in Sept. 2009, and finally got first AF in Feb. 2010 and so far have been regular.
6789572 tn?1395629939 The injection you are talking about is Depo Provera. I don't like it at all. It's supposed to get rid of your period, but I was always spotting, which was worse than a period, because you never knew when it was going to happen. It also causes weight gain.
Avatar f tn Hello! I've had deja vu seizures (auras) for about ten years now. I never had them until after I got off the awful Depo shot. I then 't have any while I was pregnant with my daughter, but they started up again after I had her. They seem to be related to my cycle. I was basically just really hoping to hear success stories about people who have dealt with seizures caused by birth control and are now seizure-free. PLEASE don't tell me any horror stories.
Avatar n tn ) in less than a year off depo and only 4 months actively trying. So excited and shocked it happend so fast after all the horror stories.
Avatar n tn I am worried about taking it though as have heard some horror stories about it. Is it safe? What can i expect from it? Husband and I trying to conceive. Stopped taking my pill in Dec 07.
Avatar f tn Hiya I am trying to conceive after the dep too. I hope it won't take as long as some of the horror stories you read about!! Good luck!
10228675 tn?1423881456 I don't trust the IUD, I've hear too many horror stories. I also don't like the shot because of the weight gain.
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar f tn t u just hate when ppl who are suppose to be ur friend fill ur mind with doubt and worry?? All week I have heard horror stories from the girls from work (who are nurses) girls we gotta remember that no pregnancy is the same and personally I feel listening to girls drag us down makes us feel waaay worse. I ended up booking a private scan cos I was so torn up by what ppl were telling me about my nausea symptoms stopping. If ur not sick ur whole pregnancy something is wrong?!?!? I was terrified.
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
Avatar n tn Hello, Irregular bleeding like you describe is a common side effect of Depo Provera. Your girlfriend should have been counseled about this possibility when initiated on the medication. If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. So today I just got my very first depo injection. I did read into some, but I don't think enough. I've recently just lost 40 pounds going from 190-150. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week and dont eat crap anymore. I'm reading horror stories everywhere of people gaining weight and I am REALLY freaking out BADLY! I feel like now I did all that work for nothing. I was just wondering on average how much weight is gained during the first shot?
Avatar f tn Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.

5363805 tn?1366917950 I am suffering from depression and anxiety due to depo-provera (already talked to an OB, and she said that it HAS to be from that), and I am barely coping. It's been 6 days and I'm already ready to give up on myself, and I see no end in sight. I'm losing hope. I wish I had never taken it. I'm also suffering from fatigue and headaches. My head feels so heavy, I can barely hold it up.
